(p. 39) aṇaka aṇaka. [Tel.] n. The act of bringing the yoke under the neck. అణకలు వేసికొను v. n. To go wrong, turn restive, as a bullock which turns the wrong way in the yoke. ఎద్దుగాని గుర్రముగాని నోగ కెదురు తిరుగు. 'వెగడొందిరవితేరి నమొగలగట్టినయట్టి వాహంబు లణకలువైచికొనియె.' విక్ర iv. 51. తిన్నగా జరగనీయక మటిమాటికి అణకలు వేసికొంటాడు instead of going on smoothly he now and then turns restive.

(p. 40) atimadhuramu ati-madhuramu. [Skt.] adj. Very delicious; delightful. నిండా రుచిగల, రమ్యమైన. అతిమధురము n. Liquorice, Glycyrrhiza glabra or the root of the Abrus precatorius which is used instead.

(p. 63) apasavyamu apa-savyamu. [Skt.] adj. Contrary, opposite to, on the wrong side ప్రతికూలమైన, దక్షిణమైన, అనగా కుడిదైన, అపసవ్యలిపి letters written the wrong way as in a seal. అపసవ్యము n. Putting the braminical thread the wrong way: that is, on the right shoulder and letting it fall on the left side instead of lying on the left shoulder. జందెమును కుడిభుజము మీద నుంచి యెడమభుజమునకు కిందితట్టుగా వేసుకోవడము.

(p. 202) ai The vowel AI as the i in pride. The shape ఐ is used as an initial in the dictionary and in poetry, but elsewhere the Telugus use a secondary form అయి 'AYI' instead: The secondary form అయి ayi is used in poetry as a dissyllable, whenever the metre requires two short syllables for AI, which is one long. The Y in అయి is not pronounced. Thus అయిదు is not pronounced ayidu, but ai-du. In Telugu words there is this liberty of spelling; but the longer form ayi ought never to be used in words of Sanscrit origin.

(p. 205) ompu ompu. [Tel.] n. Crookedness, curve, twist. వంపు. A knee of timber. The worm of a still. A small kettle used instead of a still.

(p. 333) krāra or క్రారవడి or క్రారావడి krāra. The name of the letter R. U in a conjunct letter as in క్రా. Also a conversational word used instead of శ్రాద్ధము.

(p. 501) tagu tagu. [Tel.] v. n. To be fit, or proper, to suit or agree, suffice. యుక్తమగు. p|| తగిన or తగ్గ, fit, proper, moderate. Neg. p|| తగని unfit, unsuitable, immoderate, vast, horrid. It is often used impersonally: Thus అట్లు చేయదగునా is it fit to do so? పోదగదు it is not right to go. తెలిసికొనదగును it is possible to discover it 'తపసులుపురమునతగదువర్తింప.' DRK. 204. తగుమాత్రమైన sufficient, some. తగుమాత్రముగా moderately, well, amply. తగుమాత్రముగొప్ప pretty large. Here తగు is used as a p|| instead of తగిన. తగిన tagina (Rel. p|| of తగు.) adj. Fitting, proper, due, right, likely, probable, pretty. తగినమాత్రము pretty well. తగినట్టుగా tagi-n-aṭṭu-gā. adv. Fitly, properly.

(p. 555) tēlu tēlu. [Tel.] v. n. To float. To swim. To bathe. To succeed, be done, be settled, ratified, take place. To terminate, end, blow over or end (as a storm,) swell, ripen (as a boil,) to emerge, పొడచూపు To fall clear of, so as not to hit. To clear up, become known, or ascertained, be decided, as a question or doubt. To be found, come to light, result, come to pass, to be evident or revealed. To go off or depart, as sleep, sickness, &c. To escape or get off. నేను తేలే ఉపాయము ఇది this is the plan to save myself. ఏ సముద్రమందు పడవేసినా ఇది తేలును in whatever sea you place this boat it will float, i.e., this must prosper whatever may happen. తేలబలుకు (A. iv. 306.) to speak clearly. తేలిన swelling ఉబికిన; large. తేల్చి పలుకు to accent softly, to use the soft accent instead of the harsh one; as పోతన Pōtana for పోతన్న Pōtanna, and ఇపుడు ipuḍu for ఇప్పుడు ippuḍu. తేలదీయు to haul ashore, to pull out or drag out. తేలగిల్లు or తేలగిలబడు tēla-gillu. v. n. (p. 1332) siḍi siḍi. [Tel.] n. The cross beam of a picota or water lift. ఏతపుమ్రాను. 'క ఏతపుసిడిదావంగిన, బాతాళపునీరుదెచ్చు.' A hook or goad. A machine on which men were formerly suspended in the air by a hook passed through the sinews of the back and swung around in honor of the goddess పోలేరమ్మ. గంపసిడి a basket in which a devotee (instead of being hooked up) is seated and swung about. మ్రొక్కుచెల్లించుకొనువారు కొందరు వీపున తగిలించుకొని ఆడే గాలపుమాను. ఈ దేవతకు ప్రతిసంవత్సరమును మేకపోతు సిడి ఒకటియును నరసిడి ఒకటియును జరుపుచుందురు in honor of this goddess they swing a goat and a man every year. సిళ్లు or సిడులు silḷu n.
