(p. 22) akhaṇḍamu a-khaṇḍamu. [Skt.] adj. Whole, entire; abounding; imperishable. సకలమైన, విస్తారమైన. అఖండానందము eternal bliss. అఖండైశ్వర్యము abounding wealth. అఖండకావేరి the main stream of the Cavery. అఖండము n. A permanent lamp in a temple. నిరంతరము మండే దీపము. అఖండిత adj. Unbroken, undivided. Untorn, undisturbed, uninterrupted, unrefuted, continous, imperishable. ఖండింపబడని, అనశ్వరమైన, అఖండతలక్ష్మి imperishable riches.

(p. 38) aḍḍamu aḍḍamu. [Tel.] n. Obstacle, hindrance, A screen. అభ్యంతరము, ఆటంకము, చటు. A pledge తాకట్టు నీ మాటకు అడ్డము లేదు no one will resist you. వాండ్లకు మాకు గోడ అడ్డముగా ఉండినది there was a wall between them and us. ఒక నగను అడ్డము పెట్టి యిరువైరూపాయలు తెచ్చినాడు he pawned a jewel and got twenty rupees. నా పనికి అడ్డము వచ్చినాడు he opposed my endeavours. మొగుణ్ని అడ్డముపెట్టుకొని తానే అన్ని పనులు చూచుకొనిపోయినది she used her husband as a screen and carried on the business. వాడు తండ్రికి అడ్డమాడుతాడు he opposes or contradicts his father. తిరుపతికి పోయేలోగా మూడేళ్లు అడ్డమువస్తవి there are three rivers to cross on the way to Tirupati. ఏదో ఒకటి వచ్చి అడ్డముపడినది something has got in the way. వానికి అడ్డము తగిలినారు they interrupted him. కొంతదూరము దోవనే పోయి అవతల అడ్డము తిరిగినాడు or అడ్డము తొక్కినాడు he went along some way and then cut across. 'కరాగ్రములు దృష్టులకడ్డమిడుచు.' BD. iv. 1532. అడ్డముగా aḍḍamu-gā. [Tel.] adv. Crosswise, across, transversely. చెట్టు కండ్లకు అడ్డముగానున్నది the tree intercepts the view, నేను అడ్డముగా నిలిస్తిని I stood in his way.

(p. 96) avicchittugā a-vichchittu-gā. [Skt.] adv. Undisturbedly, uninterruptedly. నిరాటంకముగా. అవిచ్ఛిన్నము adj. Uninterrupted, unintermitting. ఎడతెగని, నిరంతరమైన. అవిచ్చిన్నముగా adv. Uninterruptedly. ఎడతెగక, నిరంతరముగా.

(p. 534) tīyu tīyu. [Tel.] v. a. To take. To draw out, take out, extract. ఈడ్చు. To open. excavate, dig. To deduct, take away, subtract. To find (a place in a book), to discover, bring to light. To turn out, discharge, remove. To exact, receive (payment.) To collect, gather, levy as a tax, a fine, పన్ను, లేక అపరాధమునుతీయు. To pull off, take off. To extinguish or put out. To buy. కొను. See తీసికొను. దెబ్బతీయు to give a blow. చెరువుతీయు, బావితీయు. to sink or dig a well or tank. పాతరతీయు to open a pit or granary. పాలుతీయు to milk. జాడతీయు to trace, detect. చేరదీయు to draw towards, to patronise, take into one's service, to embrace. సానదీయు to whet on a stone. గోళ్లుతీయు to cut the nails. దోవతీయు to clear the way, to prepare a path. అతనిసిగ్గుతీసిరి they disgraced him. తాళముతీయు to unlock. వాకిలితీయు to open a door. విడతీయు to loosen or separate. వేరుగాతీయు to separate. ఎండకంచు తీసినట్టు ఉన్నది the sun is a dazzling as (though reflected from) polished metal. తీయు. v. n. To go off, cease, diminish, disappear, be dispelled, intermit, desist from. To draw back, withdraw, retire, stand aside. To contract, shrivel, crack, open, split. జ్వరముతీసినది the fever went down. వెన్నుతీయు to come forth, or be produced (as a sprout,) to bud. కాళ్లు తీయుచున్నవి my legs throb or ache. ఏరు తీసిపోయినది the river has gone down. వెనక తీయు to fail, retire, withdraw, retreat, hesitate, or flinch. నాలుకతీసినది my tongue is dry, I am thirsty. వాని ఒళ్లు మిక్కిలి తీసిపోయినది he is greatly fallen away in flesh. నీళ్లు తీసిపోవు to dry up, sink, diminish, be exhausted. బలమంతా తీసిపోయినది my strength has gone. పాతర తీసియున్నది the granary was opened. తీయక unintermittingly, without intermission. వెనకతీయక without hesitation. తియ్యకుండా unfailingly, uninterruptedly, without intermission. తీయని incessant, unceasing. తీయించు tīyinṭsu. v. a. To cause to remove, get removed. తీసివేయు tīsi-vēyu. v. t. To take away. To dismiss. To sever ఖండించు. తీసివేతకాకితాలు tīsi-vēta-kāki-talu. n. Outside sheets of paper: paper that is taken away. తీసిపోవు tīsi-pōvu. v. n. To diminish. తగ్గు. తీసుక for తీసుకొని bringing. తీసుకరా bring. తీసుకపో take away. తీసికొను or తీసుకొను tīsi-konu. v. a. To take, &c.; to buy; to eat or drink, &c. పనితీసుకొను to exact service. వాడు చాలా దినములనుంచి తీసుకొంటున్నాడు he has been lingering for a long time. దండముతీసుకొనెను he acknowledged or accepted the salutation.

(p. 597) dīkṣa dīksha. [Skt.] n. A vow. Sacrificing, offering oblations. Worshipping, యజ్ఙాది క్రియారంభమునందు అనుష్ఠింపబూనుకొనే ఆచార నియమము. A marriage vow. వ్రతాదులయందు నియమమును పూనుకొనడము వానిని చంపకవిడువను అని దీక్ష చేసుకొన్నాడు he vowed he would slay them. గర్భదీక్ష a vow whereby the husband remains unshorn pending the wife's pregnancy. వివాహదీక్ష a marriage vow. ఏకదీక్షగా uninterruptedly. దీక్షాగురుడు dīkshā-guruḍu. n. A spiritual adviser, వానికి అతడు దీక్షాగురువు. దీక్షాలయము dīksh-ālayamu. n. A convent, a hermitage, a cell. దీక్షించు dīkshinṭsu. v. n. To make a vow. దీక్ష వహించవు. దీక్షితుడు dīkshi-tuḍu. n. One who is under a vow. దీక్షవహించినవాడు.

(p. 622) dhārāḷamu dhārāḷamu. [Skt.] n. Freedom from restraint. అడ్డపాటులేమి., Openness, want of hesitation, generosity, liberality. adj. Liberal, free. అడ్డపాటులేని. ధారళముగా dhārāḷamu-gā. adv. Easily, plain ly, uninterruptedly, with ease, at free will. ధారాళవృష్టి plenteous rain. R. v. 3. and 31.

(p. 631) naḍumu naḍumu. [Tel.] n. The middle, the waist, or loins. కాను. The middle portion మధ్యబాగము. నడుముకట్టుకొను naḍumu-kaṭṭu-konu. v. n. To undertake, to make oneself ready. To gird up the loins, to be ready. సిద్ధపడు. To take a vow of chastity, నడుమంతరము or నడుమంత్రము naḍu-mantaramu. (నడుము+అంతరము.) adj. Extraordinary, unprecedented, unthought of, as a windfall. n. The waist, కొను. An interval, మధ్యకాలము. adj. Middling, neither here nor there. నడమంతరపేరు an alias. నడమంతరపు ఐశ్వర్యమునకును వరము మీది పుండునకును చురుకు అధికము those who have recently become rich and an ulcer on a nerve give great trouble. నడమంతరముగా nada-mantaramu-gā. adv. Unexpectedly. నడుచొచ్చు naḍu-ṭsoṭsṭsu. v. n. To come in the middle, to interpose, నడుమ ప్రవేశించు. నడుదింపు naḍu-dimpu. n. The flesh in the loins. మాంసవిశేషము. నడుములో చెక్కు to pocket, because they stick a handkerchief, &c., in at the girdle. నడుముపడిన gone in the loins, broken down, debilitated. నడుము వదిలినది there was an emission of semen. నడుమ or నడమ naḍuma. adj. Middle, centrical. నడుమును. adj. and postp. In the middle, meanwhile,. through, between. ఈ నడుమ presently: (also) lately. ఆ నడుమ meantime. నడమ వచ్చినారు they came between or interposed; they came as messengers or representatives. నడుమ వచ్చినవానికి ఇంత అధికారమా is an interloper to presume thus? నడుమ మాట్లాడు to interrupt one while speaking: or to intercede, to mediate. నడాన or నడుమను nadāna. adv. In the middle; midway.

(p. 661) nilcu or నిలుచు niluṭsu. [Tel.] v. n. To stand. To remain, exist, last, live. continue. To stay, stop, halt. నిలిచిపోవు. To be still or quiet, as a fluid in a vessel. To be firm or steadfast. To bear, be patient, restrain one's feelings. To be repressed, allayed, slackened. వాని మాట నిలిచినది he kept his word. నిలిచికురియదు it does not rain steadily. ఆ బడి నిలిచిపోయినది the school is now closed. పని నిలిచిపోయినది the work has stopped. M. XII. v. 459. నిలుపాటి or నిలువుపాటి long, పొడుగైన. నిలువబెట్టు to set up , erect. నిలువతీయు to set one on his legs. నిలుచుండు or నిల్చుండు niluṭs-unḍu. (నిలిచి+ఉండు.) v. n. To remain standing, to continue to stand. నిలుచుండు. నిలుడుకొ Same as నిలుచుండు. నిల used for నిలువ. నిలబడు, నిలువబడు or నిల్వబడు nila-baḍu. v. n. To stand. నిలుచుండు. To be stopped. అడ్డుపడు. To be set up, ప్రతిష్ఠతమగు. నిలక, నిలకడ, నిలుకడ or నిల్కడ nilaka. n. Standing; steadiness, constancy, firmness. స్థైర్యము. ఈ యేరు నిలక యివ్వదు I cannot keep my footing in the current. కాలు నిలకడచేసికొను to gain a firm footing నిలకడయిన ఉద్యోగము permanent (not acting) employement. నిలుకడగానుండే firm. నిలితము nilitamu. n. Delay: endurance, (Vizag.) నిలువెడుఎత్తు or నిలువుఎత్తు niluveḍu-y-ettu. n. A fathom high, lit: one man's stature. నిలుపు nitupu. v. a. To cause to stand, నిలువబెట్టు. To fix, to set up, to place, to erect, ప్రతిష్ఠించు. To stay, restrain, interrupt, repress, అడ్డగించు. To support, maintain, keep firm, establish, స్థిరపడు. To retain, keep back, reserve, నిలిపిఉంచు. To set aside, exclude. నిలుపు n. Standing, a halt, &c. నిలుచుట, ఉండుట. అది నిలుపుగానున్నది it is suspended or in abeyance. నిలుపుచేసినారు they stopped the work, &c. detained (me) &c. నిలుపు or నిల్పు nilupu. adj. That which stops. నిలుపునది. Firm, స్థిరమైన. నిలుపోవు nilup-ōpu. (నిలుపు+ఓపు.) v. n. To endure, to bear, to put up with, ఓర్చు. సహించు. నిలుపుదల nilupu-dala. n. Stopping. suspension. నిలువ or నిల్వ niluva. n. A remainder, something that is left over, శేషము, నిలిచియున్న వస్తువు. నిలువరి niluv-ari. adj. Steadfast. n. A steady man. నిలువు niluvu. n. The standing crop. మూడు నిలుపుల నీళ్లు water three fathoms deep. వాని నిలువెల్లా విషము he is a villain from head to foot. నానిలువెల్లదోచుకొన్నారు they fleeced me or stripped me. వానికి నిలువుగుడ్లు పడినవి his eyes are set, he is dying. నిలువాటి, i.e., నిలువుపాటి standing, erected. నిలువు adj. Upright, standing, High, tall. నిలువుచెంబు a cup with upright sides, a mug. నిలువుఅంచనా reckoning upon the standing crop. నిలువుటద్దము niluvu-ṭ-addamu. n. A pier glass, a full length mirror. నిలువుకొలువు or నిలువుజీతము service in which one has to stand up always and is not allowed to sit. నిలుచుండిచేయు సేవ. నిలువుకాళ్లు stilts. నిలవరము, నిలువరము or నిల్వరము nilava-ramu. n. Firmness, steadfastness. The truth, certainity. A deposit, money lodged. adj. True, certain, fixed, firm, stable, sure, స్థిరమైన. నిలవరించు, నిలువరించు or నిల్వరించు nilavarinṭsu. v. n.
