(p. 126) āvamu āvamu. [Tel.] n. A potter's kiln. కాళ్ల ఆవము a 'kiln on legs,' i.e., one built with interstices through which fuel is supplied. పందిటియావము 'a shed kiln,' one built solid on a layer of fuel, pots or tiled. Vish. ii. 58.

(p. 168) uri uri. [Tel.] n. A noose or slipping knot: a snare. ఉచ్చు. కాలురి a snare for the feet. ఉరికోల uri-kōla. n. A rod attached to a noose. ఉరితాడు uri-tāḍu. n. A halter, a tether, a rope to tie a cow's legs when it is being milked. ఉరితీయు or ఉరిపోయి uri-tīyu. v. t. To hang: strangle. ఉరు పోసికొను uri-pōsi-konu. v. i. To hang one self. ఉరియాడు uri-yāḍu. To move, tremble, fear, చలించు, భయపడు. M. ix. ii. 105. ఉరియాట moving to and fro. చలించుట, ఊగులాడుట.

(p. 169) urrukaṭṭu urru-kaṭṭu. [Tel.] v. t. To tie up a cow's legs while milking. పాలు పిదుకు నపుడు ఆవు కాళ్లను కట్టు.

(p. 212) oyyāramu or ఒయారము oyyāramu. [Tel.] n. Bloom, grace, shapeliness, the pride of beauty. సౌందర్యగర్వము. ఒయ్యారపు మాటలు pretty language, bragging. వయస్సు తప్పినా ఒయ్యారము తప్పదు old as he is he has still a sweet tooth in his head. ఒయ్యారకాడు oyyāra-kāḍu. n. A fop, a beau. ఒయ్యారి oyyāri. adj. Blooming, graceful, shapely, pretty. ఒయ్యారిపిక్కలు pretty legs. ఒయ్యారి or ఒయ్యారకత్తె oyyāri. n. A beauty, a graceful woman. A coquette.

(p. 229) kacca kaṭṭsa. [Tel.] n. A truss. The tuck of cloth, or modesty piece between the legs. గోచి. కచ్చడము kaṭṭsadamu. n. A tuck or truss. గోచి. A large strong cart. కచ్చడపు బండి. ఇనుప కచ్చడాలు కట్టినాడు he was rigorously chaste. Manu. ii. 82.

(p. 256) kalamamu kalamamu. [Skt.] n. The finest sort of rice. కలమగర్భము a swelling ear of corn: వరిపొట్టకరకు: (to which poets compare the calves of the legs) కలమపు టెండుగలు (A. i. 85.) sun-dried grain ఎండబోసిన సన్నధాన్యము.

(p. 257) kalahaṃsa or కలహంసము kala-hamsa. [Skt.] n. A swan with reddish beak, legs and wings ధూమ్రవర్ణములైన ముక్కు కాళ్లు రెక్కలుగల హంస. A king swan రాజహంస. The best of kings రాజశ్రేష్ఠుడు.

(p. 277) kālu kālu. [Tel.] n. A leg, a foot, a claw, a talon. మోకాలు the knee. మిగాలు the upper surface of the foot. A pillar. నూరుకాళ్లమంటపము a portico built on 100 pillars. A quarter or fourth part. ముక్కాలు being three legs, or quarters. Bilh. ii. 154. కాళ్లకడ at the feet. కాళ్లజెర్రి a centipede. కంపకాలు a fence: lit. a fence-foot. కాలిడొంక (A. vi. 16) a foot path. కాలుత్రవ్వు to paw the ground, to be eager for fighting. M. XII. ii. 301. A. v. 87. సన్నద్ధుడగు. నా కొడుకు పెండ్లాన్ని బిడ్డలను నాకాళ్లగట్టిపోయినాడు my son died and left a widow and children on my hands. మూడుకాళ్ల ముసలి (P. i. 322.) a three legged old woman, because leaning on a staff. తే 'మరుడుశైంగార వీధులేలర్పరచితనదు పేరనోవకపేటకట్టి సంప్తీతితోర ణాలనుంచిన కాలుకంబాలనంగ కలికియూరులు చెలుగు పై కాంచి మెరయ.' (p. 315) koṇḍikāḷlu konḍi-kāḷḷa. [Tel.] n. The legs that support the stem of a drill plough.

(p. 345) g ga. [Tel. & Skt. formed from the shape of the legs in walking.] The letter G as in great. Some Telugu words at pleasure change the letter G into V. Thus పగలు or పవలు, తీగ or తీవ. So in English, thus: guile and wile; gate and way; guard and ward; guise, and wise.

(p. 352) gaḍi gaḍi. [Tel.] n. A limit, a boundary. ఎల్ల. గడికొల్లలు plundering on the borders. గడినేలలు boundary lands. గడిమెకము a cunning animal which evades the hunter వేటకుచిక్కని మృగము. గడితేరు to be expert, నిపుణుడగు, కడలేరు. plu. గళ్లు. గళ్లుచేయు to mark the boundaries. గడి gaḍi. n. (p. 353) gaḍusu gaḍusu. [Tel.] adj. Hard, difficult. Cruel, reckless, unfeeling, inflexible. Firm, steadfast. Pertinacious, stubborn, intractable, obstinate, bluff, freespoken, bold, sharp, stout. అసాధ్యము. కఠినము, ప్రౌఢ గడుసునేల hard ground. కుత్సితమైన. గడుసుడిక్కలు stout calves of legs. గడుసువాన a sharp shower of rain. గడుసు n. Hardness, determination. Shrewdness, bluffness. కాఠిన్యము, ధైర్యము. గడుసరి gaḍusari. n. A stubborn man, an unfeeling man, a bold man అసాధ్యుడు, కఠినుడు, ధైర్యముగలవాడు. గడుసరితనము gaḍusari-tanamu. n. Stubborness, unfeeling conduct. గడుసుపడు gaḍusu-paḍu. v. n. To become bold. ధీరుడగు.

(p. 369) gilaka or గిలుక gilaka. [Tel.] n. A child's rattle, the wheel of a pulley, a capstan. A small handmill for cleaning cotton. The name of the letter ్. గిలకకర్ర gilaka-karra. n. A rattle. గిలకతాడి gilaka-tāḍi. n. The male palmyra. గిలకబండి gilaka-banḍi. n. A low built dray, a creaking cart. గిలకల కోళ్లమంచము a cot with small bells hung on the legs. గిలకచెట్టు gilaka-cheṭṭu. n. A tree with rattling pods and a yellow papilionaceous flower, called Crotolaria juncea: సంకలీ వృక్షము. నూనెగిలక (Rox. ii. 357.) the tree called Cœalpinia Oleosperma.

(p. 376) gudiguṃzalu gudi-gunzalu. n. Stick planted at the entrance of a pen or fold. పశువుల దొడ్డిద్వారమునకు నిలువుగా పాతిన కర్రలు. గుదిగ్రుచ్చు or గుదికూర్చు gudi-gruṭsṭsu. v. n. To arrange. సవరించు. 'మున్నిటికథలు గుదిగ్రుచ్చుకొనిచెప్పుకొని పోవవలదు.' L. vii. 74. గుదిత్రాడు gudi-trāḍu. n. A halter, a tether. దూడ కాలికి కట్టే తాడు. గుదిత్రోయు to tie up the legs and push away కాళ్లు కట్టి త్రోయు.
