(p. 398) grukka grukka. [Tel.] n. Swallowing. మింగుట. Breath. గుక్క. గ్రుక్కగొను grukka-gonu. v. a. To swallow or devour. మింగు గ్రుక్కలుమింగు to desire. అపేక్షపడు; to hesitate సంకోచించు. గ్రుక్కిలి or గ్రుక్కిళ్లు grukkili. n. A gulp, swallowing, or deglutition. గ్రుక్కిళ్లు మింగు to sob, to lick the lips, expressive of desire. అపేక్షపడు; to hesitate సంకోచించు. గ్రుక్కుమిక్కను to open the mouth to speak మాటాడనోరెత్తు.

(p. 412) ciṭuku , చిటుక్కు or చిటుకుపొటుకు chiṭuku. [Tel.] (anuk.) n. A low soft sound, clicking, chirruping: a just audible sound, as the sound of the crack of the finger joints, a splashing, pattering, or dripping sound. చీమ చిటుక్కుమంటే నిద్రనుండి లేస్తాడు the sound of an ant will awake him. చీమ చిటుక్కుమంటే వినబడును the tread of an ant might have been heard. చిటుక్కుమ or చిటుక్కుమను chiṭukk-anu. v. n. To give a crackling sound like the sparks of a Leyden jar.

Manner or mode. ఓడపాయ the wake of a vessel. మంచిపాయలో పడినాడు he has taken to good ways. వాన పాయeరు నాపాయవేరు his way and mine are different పాయగొమ్మ pāya-gomma. (పాయ+కొమ్మ.) n. A forked branch, పంగలకొమ్మ. పాయపడు or పాయపారు pāya-paḍu. v. n. To split, చీలు. To separate, to avoid, తొలగు. To move out of the way. దారివిడిచితొలగు. To be excommunicated, వెలిపడు.

(p. 866) badde badde. [Tel.] n. The fag end or selvage of a web, వస్త్రముమొదలు, వస్తి, బట్టమొదటిభాగము. A slip of cloth. వస్త్రఖండము. బద్దె మెడకు వేసుకొని కర్మము జరిగించెను he performed the funeral rites putting on a slip of cloth round his neck as a mark of mourning. Also, a thin or flat piece of wood as వింటిబద్దె or కావటిబద్దె. నవారుబద్దె a tape. బద్దెగుండ్లు baddè-gunḍlu. n. Little balls like marbles flicked from the finger-ends.

(p. 989) mīṭu mīṭu. [Tel.] v. a. To fillip, fling, toss. వీణెమీటు to touch the lute. గోటమీటు to flick away or fling from the nail. గుర్రమును మీటు to spur a horse. చెక్కుమీటు to touch or scratch (the cheek) with the nail. తేలుమీటినది the scorpion stung (him) 'నిజాంగుష్ఠంబునగొని పరియోజనములు పోవగమీటెన్.' N. vii. 158. మీటు. n. A touch, fillip, toss. Greatness, grandeur. ఉద్రేకము, పెంపు, గొప్ప. 'అలరితొలకరి తరి పేరియాటవాడు, మీటువాటిల్ల వలరాజుమెచ్చువడసి.' R. vi. 18.

(p. 1085) reparepa repa-repa. [Tel. (anuk)] n. The flickering noise made by a flame. అగ్ని జ్వాలధ్వని. A faint flutter (of leaves, &c. as when a wind blows.) రవంతకొట్టుకొనడము, కొనప్రాణముతోనుండడము. రెపరెపమను or రెపరెపలాడు repa-repa-m-anu. v. n. To be faint or fluttering with weakness. రవంతకొట్టుకొను. కొనప్రాణము రవంతకొట్టుకొను, కొనప్రాణముతోనుండు. To be hungry, రవంత ఆకలియగు.

(p. 1104) lihat lihat. [Skt.] adj. Licking. A word only used in compounds as అభ్రంలిహత్ sky-high; lit. 'licking the skies,' ఆకాశమును అంటే.

(p. 1109) lēhanamu lēhanamu. [Skt.] n. Licking, నాకుట. లేహము lēhamu. n. Food, భోజనము. లేహ్యము lehyamu. adj. That which can be licked, నాకదగిన. n. An electuary, a medicine. Nectar, ambrosia. నాకి భుజింపదగినమందు, నాకి భుజింపదగిన వ్యంజన విశేషము. కల్కద్రవ్యములుచేర్చి ముద్దగా చేసిన మందు. అమృతము.

(p. 1110) loṭṭa loṭṭa. [Tel.] n. A smack or cluck with the tongue. Hollowness of the eyes of cheeks. Low ground, a pit, పల్లము. ఆముదపులొట్ట the dried stem of the castor oil plant. adj. Sunken, hollow. Dried up, wasted away (as an eye), అణగిగుంటగానుండే. మిట్టపండ్లునుపెనులొట్టకన్గవయును.' Jagannad. i. 54. లొట్టకన్నుజిట్ట loṭṭa-kannu-jiṭṭa. n. The bird called Prinia socialis. See జిట్ట. లొట్టపోవు loṭṭa-pōvu. v. n. To be sunken, అణగు. To be injured. వానికన్ను లొట్టపోయినది his eye is injured. చావుతప్పి కన్ను లొట్టపోయినది (proverb) he escaped death but his eye is injured. చ లొట్టవేయు lotṭa-veyu. v. n. To click or smack the tongue against the palate. దేనినైనను తిని నాలుకతో చప్పుడుచేయు. లొటతాటకత్తె loṭa-tāṭa-katte. n. A cunning wench, a deceitful woman మాయలమారి. 'వెడలిపోజూచెదో వేసాలుపన్నిలోకంబులోలేని లొటతాటకత్తె.' HD. 1901.
