(p. 173) ūkara ūkara. [Tel.] n. To say ఊ ఊ while listening to what another says. ఊకొట్టుట. ఊకరగొట్టు ūkara-goṭṭu. v. i. To crow or make indistinct sounds, as an infant. G. iii. 46. BD. v. 967.

(p. 173) ūkoṭṭu or ఊకొను ū-koṭṭu. [Tel.] v. n. To hum or make an indistinct sound, resembling ఊ, ఊ, denoting that one is listening to what another is saying.

(p. 317) koṭṭu koṭṭu. [Tel.] v. a. To strike, knock. smite, beat, thrash. To attack (as rats do.) To rob, as highwaymen do. To quash, refute, defeat, dismiss, nonsuit. To strike off (the head) or behead. To strike out or rescind (a word). దారులు కొట్టు to rob (on) the high road. గోడను కాగితముకొట్టు to put (or stick) a paper on the wall. చప్పట్లుకొట్టు to clap the hands. అచ్చుకొట్టు to print. కొర్రుకొట్టు to impale. ఈతకొట్టు to swim. నన్నుముకొట్టు to whitewash. నన్ను దొంగలుకొట్టినారు thieves robbed me. చెంపకొట్టు to give a slap on the cheek. బుడ్డికొట్టు to crack a bottle, i.e, drink liquor. తలకొట్టు to behead, to ruin. పిండికొట్టు to pound flour. డేరాకొట్టు to pitch a tent. ఊడగొట్టు to loosen. చెడగొట్టు to spoil or ruin. తేలగొట్టు to set afloat. దిగగొట్టు to drive in. నలియగొట్టు to bruise. పండ్లు రాలగొట్టు to knock out a man's teeth. పగలగొట్టు a break to pieces. పడగొట్టు to throw down. పోగొట్టు to lose. విరుగగొట్టు to break; సాగగొట్టు to beat out (metal). ఊకొట్టు to hum in assent while listening. బుసకొట్టు to hiss. వాడు చేసిన దౌర్జన్యము వాణ్ని కొట్టినది his wickedness has fallen on his own head. నా నోట్లో మన్ను కొట్టినారు they have cast earth into my mouth, i.e., cheated or ruined me. కొట్టించు koṭṭinṭsu. v. t. To cause to beat.

(p. 1178) vinu vinu. [Tel.] v. a. To hear, to listen to, ఆకర్ణించు. To pay attention to, give heed to, obey. మాటవినని disobedient. విన్నావా did you year? వింటివా have you heard? did you hear? వినడాయె he did not listen. పెద్దలమాటవిను listen to the advice of your superiors. స్కాందపురాణమువిన్నాడు he had the Skānda Purana read to him. వినబడు vina-baḍu. v. n. To be heard, విను. నాకు వినబడినది. I heard it. వినమి vinami. n. Not hearing, not obeying. వినకపోవడము. వినవచ్చు vina-vaṭsṭsu. v. n. To be heard. వినబడు. ఆ చప్పుడు వినవచ్చినది that noise reached my ears. వినికి, విన్కి or వినికిడి viniki. n. Audience, hearing, listening. వినడము. నాకు అట్లావినికి I have heard so. వినిపించు or వినుచు vinipinṭsu. v. a. To cause to hear. వినజేయు. To tell, to read out or aloud. ఆ జాబు నాకు వినిపించినాడు he read the letter to me. v. n. To be heard వినవచ్చు. నాకు వినిపించినది I heard it. తుపాకిలాగు వినిపించినది it sounded like a gun. వినుకత or విన్కలి vinukali. n. Hearing. వినికి, వినుట. వినుకలికంటి vinukali-kanṭi. n. A snake. వినువారిమాటలు slander, backbiting, చాడీమాటలు.

(p. 1261) śravaṇamu ṣravaṇamu. [Skt.] n. The ear. Hearing, listening. చెవి, వినడము, వినికిడి. శ్రవణేంద్రియము the sense of hearing. శ్రవస్సు or శ్రవము ṣravassu. n. The ear. చెవి. P. i. 466. శ్రవణీయము ṣravaṇīya-mu. adj. Worthy to be heard, fit to be heard, audible.

(p. 1338) sukhamu sukhamu. [Skt.] n. Happiness, welfare, health, safety, pleasure, enjoyment, delight. ఆనందము, ఆరోగ్యము, సౌఖ్యము, క్షేమము. Heaven, స్వర్గము. నయనసుఖము the delight of one's eyes, the name of a kind of cloth. adj. Pleasing, delightful, agreeable, comfortable, easy, happy, well, cheerful, healthy. ఆనందమైన, ఆరోగ్యమైన, క్షేమమైన. సుఖసత్కథానినోదంబున నుండగా while he was passing his time agreeably in listening to a pious story. సుఖజీవనము sukha-jīvanamu. n. A happy or easy life. కష్టములేనిబ్రతుకు. సుఖజీవి sukha-jīvi. n. A prosperous or happy person. కష్టములేక జీవనముచేయువాడు. సుఖ ప్రసవము an easy and safe accouchement. సుఖభోగి one who lives at ease. సుఖభోగులు sukha-bhōgulu. n. A sort of grain. ధాన్యవిశేషము. H. iv. 157. సుఖముగా sukhamu-gā. adv. Happily, safely, in good circumstances. సంతోషముగా, క్షేమముగా, మీ తండ్రి సుఖముగానున్నాడా is your father well? సుఖవాసి or సుఖప్రాణి sukha-vāsi. n. A delicate, luxurious person, one who lives at ease. సుకుమారము గానుండేవాడు. సుఖసంకటము or సుఖరోగము sukha-sankaṭamu. n. (lit. the pains of pleasure) Venereal disease. మండలరోగము. సుఖాసీనుడు sukh-āsīnuḍu. n. One who is seated at his ease. హాయిగా కూర్చున్నవాడు. సుఖి sukhi. n. One who is happy, one who possesses happiness or pleasure, one who is in good health, సుఖముగలవాడు, సుఖించు or సుఖియించు sukhinṭsu. v. n. To be happy, well or at ease; to be glad, rejoice, be comforted. ఆనందించు, హర్షించు.
