To send, forward, despatch. పంపు సాగనంపు to accompany a friend a little way so as to set him on his journey. పిలవనంపు to send for one. అంపించు. same as అంపు or పంపు to send. అంపుదోడు ampu-dōḍu. n. A companion in a journey. దారికి సహాయముగా వచ్చేమనిషి. వాడు అంపుదోళ్లకు బిడ్డకాన్పులకు తిరుగుతున్నాడు he employs himself as a companion and as a nurse.

(p. 50) analpamu an-alpamau. [Skt.] n. Not little, much. అనల్పఘోషము very noisy.

(p. 50) anavaṭillu anavaṭillu. [Tel.] v. to. To settle, dry and cool a little so as to be fit for eating, as boiled rice. ఉమ్మగిల్లు. అన్నము ఉడికి చల్లారు.

(p. 51) anāmika a-nāmika. [Skt. lit. the nameless finger] n. The ringfinger, the one next to the little finger. ఉంగరపు వేలు, చిటికిన వేలికి ఇవతలి వేలు.

(p. 73) amaṇḍamu a-mandamu. [Skt.] adj. Not slow, violent, not little, great, extreme. అమందవ్యధ deep grief. అమందసౌభాగ్యము great wealth.

(p. 75) amma amma. [Tel. cf. Aryan root 'Ma.'] n. Mother. తల్లి. Madam. అమ్మక్కచెల్ల, అమ్మచెల్ల alas! ah! oho! అమ్మణ్ని, అమ్మద్యు or అమ్మా or అమ్మల్ల interj. My dear, my love. అమ్మవారు amma-vāru. goddess. The small pox. బ్రాహ్మణస్త్రీ, పోలేరు, మశూచికము. ఆ సత్రములో వుండే అమ్మవారిని పిలువు call the Brahmin woman who is in the lodge. అమ్మవారికి పొంగలి పెట్టినారు they offered a sacrifice to the village goddess. వానికి అమ్మవారు పోసినది he has got the small pox. అమ్మవారి చుక్కలు, అమ్మ చుక్కలు pock marks. అమ్మవారి చుక్కలగల or అమ్మచుక్కలుగల pitted with the small pox. అమ్మవారు పోయించు to inoculate. అమ్మవారిధూము an outbreak of cholera. అమ్మాయి ammāyi. [Tel.] n. A little girl. పడుచు అమ్మి or అమ్మాళు n. Missy, my dear, my love.

(p. 78) aratni aratni. [Skt.] n. A cubit, distance from the elbow to the extremity of the little finger. విస్తృతకనిష్ఠాంగుళి ముష్టికహస్తము, మోచేతినుంచి చితికెన వ్రేలుదాక. The elbow. మోచెయ్యి.

(p. 89) aluvamu alupamu. [Skt. అల్పము] adj. Small, little, trifling. అల్పమైన, అలుపాలస్ (=అల్ప కార్యములచేత.) భార ఊద్యో iii.

(p. 90) alpamu alpamu. [Skt.] adj. Trifling, mean, slight, small, little, petty. స్వల్పమైన, నీచమైన, చిన్న. అల్పకార్యము a small matter. అల్పజ్ఞుడు one that knows little, an ignorant man. అల్పకృష్టి short-sightedness, narrow-mindedness. అల్పప్రాణి a weak creature. అల్పబుద్ధి little-mindedness. అల్పవయస్కుడు one who is tender in age, a mere youth. అల్పాచమనము Urine. అల్పాయుస్సు Tender age. అల్పాయుష్కుడు A short lived man. అల్పారంభము A small beginning. అల్పాహారము A light meal. అల్పుడు n. (p. 103) astōkamu a-stōkamu. [Skt.] adj. Not a little, not trifling, great. బృహత్తైన, అల్పముకాని. అస్తోకత్వము astōkatvamu. n. Greatness.

(p. 111) āṭu āṭu. [Tel.] v. n. To suffice: to last, to be enough దాన్ని పోడిమిగా వాడితే యింకా నెల దినములకు ఆటివచ్చును with caution it may suffice for a month. అది ఆటదు or ఆటి రాదు it is not enough. కట్టెలు ఒక మాటుగా తీసికొంటే ఆటివస్తుంది, చిల్లరచిల్లరగా తీసికొంటే ఆటిరావు if you buy your firewood in the lump it will last; if you buy only a little at a time it will not. ఆటు n. Striking. కొట్టుట. Shooting, or rheumatic pain: పోటు (M. VIII. i. 218:) throbbing. నాకు ఆటుపోటుగానున్నది I am in great pain. ఆ పుంటిలో ఆట్లుపోట్లు ఎత్తినవి the boil throbbed much.

(p. 112) āḍu āḍu. [Tel.] adj. Female. ఇవి ఆడుమాటలు these are a woman's words. ఆడుచందము āḍuṭsandamu. The female shape, feminine disguise. B. viii. 445. ఆడుమొర A woman's shriek. R. v. 207. ఆడుతోడు āḍu-tōḍu. [Tel.] A female companion. ఆడుది āḍudi. A woman. ఆడుబిడ్డ āḍu-biḍḍa. A little girl. The sister of a woman's husband. ఆడుముండ āḍu-muṇḍa. An abusive word for a woman: equivalent to slut, jade, wretch. ఆడువీడు woman's town, a place without brave men. See ఆడ adj.

(p. 126) āva āva. [Tel.] n. A flat or marsh glebe, low ground. A lake. Mustard seed. Recollection. ఆవపారు āvā-pāru. [Tel.] v. i. To come to recollection. జ్ఞప్తికి వచ్చు. అది నాకు ఆవపారదు I do not recollect it. ఆవద్రావినజోకనటమటిల్లు they were sick at heart. V. P. ii. 58. ఆవకాయ āva-kāya. n.
