(p. 20) akrōṭukāya , నాటు అక్రోటుకాయ akrōṭukāya. [Skt.] n. Alcurites moluccana, the Belgium or Indian walnut; the candle nut (Watts.)

(p. 23) agalucu or అగల్చు agaluṭsu. [Tel. causative of అగలు.] v. a. To cause to break, burst. పగులగొట్టు, బద్దలుచేయు 'కేలగలిచిపట్ట' P. 4. 374. టీ చెయ్వ బిగబట్టి 'మోమాటనలరు తమ్ములతావులగలింప.' ib. 4. 132. టీ పోగొట్ట.

(p. 27) agrahāramu agra-hāramu. [Skt.] n. A street or village inhabited by brahmins. A village of which the old and hereditary cultivators are brahmins. A village granted to brahmins by government for charitable or religious purposes; either rent free, or at a favourable assessment. The conditions on which these villages are held are specified thus, సర్వాగ్రహారము a village free from all tax. శ్రోత్రియాగ్రహారము a village granted at a certain fixed assessment. జోడి అగ్రహారము, or బిల్మకా అగ్రగారము or, కట్టుబడి అగ్రహారము a village granted at a rent which fluctuates with the produce. అగ్రహారికుడు a brahmin belonging to such a village. అగ్రహారమనుభవించేవాడు he who enjoys a village free from tax.

(p. 28) acciuṇḍu acchi-unḍu. [Tel.] v. i. To be indebted to. వాడికి అది అచ్చిఉండి యిచ్చినాను it was my bad luck and I had to give it to him. See. అచ్చు.

(p. 28) accivaccu acchi-vaṭṭsu. [Tel.] v. n. To be cheap. To prosper, be advantageous. మేలగు, కలిసివచ్చు. వానికి గుర్రములు అచ్చిరావు he has no luck in horse flesh. ఆ యిల్లు మాకు అచ్చివచ్చినది. we got the house cheap, or we have prospered in that house. See. అచ్చి ఉండు.

(p. 29) accudala or అచ్చుబాటు aṭṭsu-dala. [Tel.] n. Debt. ఋణముతగులుట. వానికి ఆవులు అచ్చుదలలేదు (lit: the cattle do not owe him anything) he has no luck in cattle.

(p. 29) ajamōda aja-mōda. [Skt.] n. The seed of Bishop's weed. Sison Ammi. ఓమము, Common Carroway, the species called Ajwaen (Lingusticum Ajwaen), and especially a species of Parsley, Apium Involucratum.

(p. 35) aḍalucu aḍaluṭsu. [Tel.] v. a. To daunt. భయపెట్టు.

(p. 44) adṛṣṭamu a-drishṭamu. [Skt.] n. Fortune, luck, chance, fate. భాగ్యము దురదృష్టము bad luck. అదృష్టవంతుడు or అదృష్టశాలి or అదృష్టపురుషుడు a fortunate man. అదృష్టహీనుడు an unfortunate man. అదృష్టఫలము the consequence of (one's) good luck.

(p. 50) anayamu anayamu. [Skt.] n. Ill-luck, bad fortune; calamity. Vice, transgression. నీతికానిది, అశుభము, వ్యసనము, విపత్తు.

(p. 61) apacayamu apa-chayamu. [Skt.] n. Loss, detriment. The act of plucking flowers. హాని, అపహారము, పువ్వులు కోయడము. పుష్పాపచయము (Swa. iv. 116.) gathering flowers.

(p. 67) abbu abbu. [Tel.] v. n. To come into one's enjoyment, possession, or reach; be obtained or gained. చిక్కు, దొరుకు, లభించు. ప్రాప్తించు. ఇది వీనికి అబ్బేసొమ్ము కాదు the luck is too good to last; that is, he is not worthy of such good fortune, and it will not stick by him. దీన్ని వానికి అబ్బనియ్యరు they will prevent his getting it.

(p. 68) abhāgyamu a-bhāgyamu. [Skt.] adj. Unfortunate, luckless, wretched. దౌర్భాగ్యమైన, దురదృష్టమైన.

(p. 89) alucu aluṭsu. [Tel.] n. A dull or stupid man. మందుడు. భార. విరా. iii.

(p. 125) ālōlamu ā-lōlamu. [Skt.] adj. Agitated, shaken, fluctuating, tremulous, quivering. ఆలోలుడై eager, desirous. ఆసక్తిగల. A. vi. 132.
