(p. 40) atimātra ati-mātra. [Skt.] n. A 'pill too much,' i.e., excess in medicine. అధికమైన మందు. వాడు యిప్పుడు నిండా అతిమాత్రగానున్నాడు he has now gone wild. అతిమాత్రము atimātramu. [Skt.] adj. Exceeding; immoderate; excessive. మిక్కిలి మిక్కుటమైన.

(p. 56) anupānamu anu-pānamu. [Skt.] n. A vehicle in medicine, anything taken with medicine to make it less nauseous. మందుతో కూడా తీసుకొనే మధురమైన వస్తువు. 'తద్వచనౌషధంబు ప్రియానుపాన సహితంబై.' Anir. ii 108. యీ మందుకు పాలును అనుపానము చేసి పుచ్చుకో you must take milk as a vehicle to this medicine, you must take this medicine in milk.

(p. 76) ayi (past p|| of అగు to become.) Having become, turned into. మాకు అయి నిలిచినాడు he stood like a post., i.e., he has transfixed with surprise &c. దొంగ అయి తిరుగుతున్నాడు he has turned thief. పోకిరి అయిపోయినాడు he has become a wicked fellow. అయిన (past rel. p|| of అగు to become.) Accomplished, becoming, agreeable, suitable. అయినపని a work that is accomplished, a becoming art. అయిన పెండ్లాము a good wife. అయినమందు a suitable medicine. అయినమనిషి a useful or proper man. అయినవాండ్లు friends, relations. See కాని. అయిన is also used to change nouns into adjectives as సొగసైన పిల్ల, ఆశ్చర్యమైన కార్యము a wonderful deed. For other uses, see under ఐన.

To be contained in, to remain, to stay. ఔషధము అతనికి ఇమడకపోయినది the medicine did not stay on his stomach. ఈ సమాచారము వానిలో ఇమిడి ఉండదు he will not be able to conceal this news. ఇముడుకొను imuḍu-konu. v. n. To be held or contained, ఇమడ్చుకొను. ఇముడ్చు or ఇముడుచు imuḍṭsu. v. a. To contain, hold, include, retrench, contract, abbreviate. ఇమడజేయు. ఇమిడిక imiḍika. n. Brevity, compactness. అణగియుండుట, చేరియుండుట.

(p. 176) ūru ūru. [Tel.] v. n. To be full, steeped or soaked. To be puffed or fat. To increase or grow great. To exude, leak out, coze, or spring as water. To overflow as feelings. To sink as ink into paper. To take effect as a medicine. నోరూరుట the mouth watering. ఊరబెట్టిన చెక్క timber left to steep or steam so as to be seasoned. తేటలూరగా full of light. ఊరుగాయ or ఊరగాయ ūru-gāya. n. A pickled fruit, a pickle. ఊరుబిండి ūru-biṇḍi. n. A paste or chutney (used as sauce,) of fried grain and chillies. మోదములూర with overflowing love.

(p. 181) ekku ekku. [Tel.] v. a. & n. To rise, increase, swell. To appear (by its effects as wine, water, poison, or medicine.) To affect the mind. To prevail as a report; to come to notice వాని తలకు మదము ఎక్కినది he is beside himself with pride or lust. వానికి మత్తెక్కినది he is intoxicated. వడ్డియెక్కినది interest has accrued. ఎక్కినవడ్డి the interest that accrued. వాని దుష్టగుణములు నీకు ఎక్కినవి you have caught his bad habits, or, followed his example. వార్తకెక్కు to become the theme or topic of discourse. వన్నెకెక్కినాడు he became celebrated, rose to distinction. వాసికెక్కిన celebrated, honoured. ఎన్నికకెక్కినాడు one who has risen to reputation. పది గంటలపొద్దు ఎక్కిన వేళ when it was ten o'clock, lit. when the sun has mounted (to) ten hours. ఆ పనికి ఎవరును ఎక్కలేదు no one came forward, or volunteered for the business. అతని మాట యెక్కదు his word will not do, or avail. తలకు నీళ్లెక్కి ౛లుబుగానున్నది the water has got into the head and I have a cold. To mount on, get upon. మంచమెక్కు to take to one's bed. ఎక్కుకొను ekku-konu. v. a. To mount on ఆరోహించు.

(p. 200) ēravaṅga ēra-vanga. [Tel. probably ఏటివంగ] n. A certain medicinal plant called Solanum Speciosum. In Sanskrit గ్రంధిలా. See వంగకాయ.

(p. 204) ailāramu ailāramu. [Tel. for అయిలారము.] n. A root used as a medicine in dropsies.

(p. 220) ōṣadhi ōshadhi. [Skt.] n. An annual plant or herb, one that dies immediately after it seeds. ఫలించినతోడనే నశించుచెట్టు. A medicinal plant మందుచెట్టు. ఓషధీశుడు ōshadh-īṣuḍu. n. The lord or plants, i.e., the moon.
