The body, a limb, member, part, division or branch. అంగవంచకము = ఉపాయము, సహాయము, దేశకాలవిభజనము, ఆపదకు ప్రతిక్రియ, కార్యసిద్ధి. అద్భుతాంగులు beings having wondrous forms. అష్టాంగములు = the eight forms or stages of meditation, i. e, యమము, నియమము, ప్రాణాయామము, ప్రత్యాహారము, ధ్యానము, ధారణ, మననము, సమాధి. చతురంగములు the four divisions of an army, i. e., రథములు, ఏనుగులు, గుర్రములు, బంటులు. పంచాంగము the Indian calendar giving particulars of each day, as తిథి, వారము, నక్షత్రము, యోగము, కరణము. రాజ్యాంగములు the various departments of Government. షడంగములు or వేదాంగములు the six sciences dependent on the Vedas. i. e., శిక్ష, కల్పము, వ్యాకరణము, నిరుక్తము, జ్యోతిషము, ఛందస్సు. సప్తాంగములు = the seven constituents of a Government. స్వామి, అమాత్యుడు, సుహృత్తు, కోశము, రాష్ట్రము, దుర్గము, బలము. సాష్టాంగ ప్రణామము prostrate homage, touching the ground with eight members of the body, i. e., eyes or chest and forehead, hands, knees and feet.

Vishṇu, from whose navel (నాభి) sprung the lotus containing Brahma when he was sent to create the world. పద్మబాంధవుడు padma-bāndhavuḍu. n. The Sun. పద్మరాగము pādma-rāgamu. n. The chrysolite or ruby of the finest class: a gem of a pink colour called మొక్కళి, ఉదయసూర్యకాంతిగలకెంపు. పద్మవెలమలు or పద్మనాయకులు padma-velamalu. n. Plu. The name of a certain Sudra caste. The goddess Lakshmi, so named because her dwelling (ఆలయము) is in the lily (పద్మము.) పద్మాసనము padm-āsanamu. n. A sitting posture used in religious meditation in which the Bauddha statues are represented; so called because Vishṇu is represented in that posture when throned on a lotus. పద్మి padmi. n. An elephant. పద్మిని padmini. n. A lovely woman, like a Penclope, or an Eve. The Hindu poets divide all beautiful women into four classes called (1) హస్తిని, (2) శంఖిని, (3) చిత్రిణి and (4) పద్మిని; which answer to Juno, Flora, Venus and Minerva, respectively: See Addison's Spectator No. 209. పద్మిని n. A bed of lilies. పద్మినీవల్లభుడు the Sun, as being the lover (వల్లభ) of the lotus.

(p. 951) manasu or మనస్సు manasu. [Tel.] n. The internal organ of cognition, the intellect, understanding, mind. Inclination, wish, will, pleasure, ఇష్టము. adj. Liking. ఇష్టము. మనసగు manas-agu. (మనసు + అగు.) v. n. To like, ఇష్టమగు. మనోవేగముగా పోయినాడు he went as quick as thought. మనోవ్యాధికి మందులేదు there is no cure for the heart-ache or for a mental disease. వాణ్ని పిలవడానకు నీకెట్లా మనస్సు వచ్చినది how could you find it in your heart to call him? నీకు మనస్సు వచ్చినదానిని తీసికొనవచ్చును you may take which you choose. దానిని చేయడానకు వానికి యింకా మనస్సు రాలేదు he is not yet inclined to do this. తమరు మనస్సు పట్టితే అవును if you once set your heart upon it it will be done. వానికి మనస్సువస్తే ఒకటి, మనస్సు రాకపోతే ఒకటి he is guided by fancy or whim. మనస్సే కైలాసము heaven is in the heart. వానిమనస్సు అభేద్యము his thoughts are inscrutable. వాని మనస్సును ఎందుకు నొప్పించెదవు why should you grieve him or his heart? వానిమనస్సు విరిగినది he is heart-broken. ఈమాట నీమనస్సులో ఉండనీ you must keep this to yourself. అది యేడ్చితే వానిమనస్సు తాళలేదు he could not endure to see her weep. వాని మనస్సు తిరుగలేదు he has not altered his opinion. వానికి మనస్సులో ఒకటి, బయట ఒకటి he has one thing in his heart and another in his mouth. నామనస్సు ఒకవిధముగానున్నది I know not what to think, my mind is confused. 'ఇంద్రియములు మనస్థ్సములు' the senses are dependent on the mind. M. XII. v. 596. మనస్థ్సమైనమాట the thought of his heart. మీ మనస్సు as you please, your pleasure. వానిమనస్సువచ్చినట్టు as he chose, as he pleased. మనసియ్యలేదు he did not tell his real thoughts. నీ మనస్సు వచ్చినట్టా or నీమనస్సు పోయినదే దోవా what! are you to do as you like! మనస్సు ఉంచు to give close attention. మనస్సులోనిమాట one's real opinion. తన మనస్సు వచ్చినపనులు whatever jobs he pleased. ఇట్లుచేయుటకు మనస్సురానందున as (he) could not find it in (his) heart to do this. నా మనస్సున పట్టినది it was impressed on my mind. నాలుగు దినాలు మనస్సుపట్టుకొని (లేక. నిలుపుకొని) ఉండు you must keep yourself quiet or restrain yourself for a short time. మనసరి manas-ari. (మనసు + అరి.) n. A wise man. బుద్ధిమంతుడు. 'క అనయమునిజ ప్రచారం, బనయముగాకుండ నచట నతిశౌర్యమునన్, మనసంయేకేసరియని, మనసరిరాకొమరుమూక మనుమను రీతిన్.' R. i. 123. మనసా manasā. adv. Mental distress, displeasure, anger, vexation. ఆమెకు మనస్తాపముగానున్నది she is annoyed or grieved at this. మనస్ఫూర్తిగా or మనఃపూర్వకముగా manas-phūrti-gā. adv. Willingly. మనస్వి manasvi. adj. Attentive, fixing the mind upon anything. Intelligent. జాగరూకుడు. Goodhearted. మంచి మనస్సుగల. మనోజ్షము manōgnamu. adj. The name of a certain flower with a rank smell, apparently a sort of arum. మనోరథము manō-rathamu. n. A wish, desire. ఇచ్ఛ. నామనోరథము తమరు త్వరగా నెరవేర్తురని నమ్మియున్నాను I trust that you will soon grant what I so earnestly wish. మనోమలికితము manō-malikitamu. n. Misunderstanding. మనోహరము manō-haramu. adj. Heart-stealing, i.e., charming, lovely, alluring, captivating, fascinating, ఇంపైన. n. Vermicelli.

A magic girdle worn by ascetics. యోగదృష్టి the second sight, obtained by devotion, superhuman sagacity or perspicacity. యోగాభ్యాసము the keeping the body in a fixed posture for spiritual worship, the practice of abstract contemplation. యోగనిద్ర or జ్ఞాననిద్ర the divine sleep, or supernatural stupor which yōgis or saints strive to attain. యోగమాయ supernatural stupor. యోగవాగలు, యోగవాగములు or యోగవాగాలు yōga-vūgalu. n. A sort of lapis lazuli having a sky blue or lilac tint. Deep meditation on the Deity, devout abstraction, absorption of thought. దేవునియందు తదేకధ్యానముగానుండడము. సమాధిస్థానము a place where a recluse sits when praying or meditating. దేవధ్యానము మీదనుండునప్పుడు కూర్చుండేచోటు. వారు జలసమాధిని పొందిరి they found a watery grave.

(p. 1302) samāhitamu sam-āhitamu. [Skt.] adj. Well placed, settled, assembled, compiled, చక్కగా ఉంచబడిన. Promised, agreed, or assented to, అంగీకరింపబడిన, అంగీకృతమైన. Absorbed in meditation, engaged in devout meditation. Attentive, cautious. సమాధియందున్న, సమాధిస్థము, వినిహితము, సావధానమైన, సమాహితుడు sam-āhituḍu. n. One who is well placed. చక్కగా ఉంచబడినవాడు.

(p. 1381) haṭhamu haṭhamu. [Skt.] n. Obstinacy, violence, severity, contumacy. మూర్ఖత, మొండితనము, ముష్కరత. బలాత్కారము. A kind of meditation, యోగభేదము. హఠముసాధించు to presevere in obstinacy. హఠము తీర్చుకొను to pay a grudge. హఠముపట్టు to be obstinate. adj. Stubborn, obstinate, pertinacious, resolute, determined. ముర్ఖమైన, మొండి, పిడివాదముగల. హఠంబుగా haṭhambu-gā. adv. Pertinaciously, stubbornly. మూర్ఖముగా, ముష్కరముగా. This is generally a method of austre devotion, such as standing on one leg, holding up the arms, inhaling smoke, with the head inverted, &c. It is opposed to Raja yogam. కఠినమైన తపస్సు. హఠవాది haṭha-vādi. n. A violent man, a determined or obstinate man. పట్టిన పట్టు విడువనివాడు. హఠాత్, హఠాత్తుగా or హఠాత్తున haṭhāt. adv.
