(p. 694) pacca paṭsṭsa. [Tel.] n. Lit: Leaf colour. Green, yellowish green, yellow colour, (a leaf being first green, then fading into yellow.) An emerald, మరకతము. Any figure punctured or tattooed into the skin, because it is coloured green. A green plant or tree. cf. 'పైరుపచ్చ' adj. Green, yellow, sallow. (The word పచ్చ radically means Bright, fair-coloured.) పచ్చ పొడుచుకొను to tattoo the skin. ఆకుపచ్చ or హరిదళపచ్చ yellow. కలంకారిపచ్చలు a sort of cloth, or painted chintz. See on పచ్చి. Various shades of green are called కప్పుపచ్చ a still lighter tint, రాతిపచ్చ emerald green, చిలకపచ్చ bright green, మక్కిపచ్చి dirty dark green. వాని కండ్లు పచ్చపారినవి he has the jaundice. వారు ఇప్పుడు పచ్చగానున్నారు they are now in prosperous circumstances. కాపు పచ్చగా నుంటే రాజు చూడలేడు the king cannot bear to see a thriving farmer. పచ్చనరాలు the blue veins. పచ్చగువ్వ a bright yellow green bird; the green pigeon. పచ్చపైకము a good coin. Green coloured camphor: crude camphor. This is the name of a brilliant white drug, used to curve the eye, which real camphor injures. It is not in lumps but is a powder. పచ్చకామెరలు paṭsṭsa-kāmerulu. n. Jaundice. పచ్చజిట్ట paṭsṭsa-jiṭṭa. n. The common Iora (a small green and yellow bird.) Ӕgithina tiphia. (F.B.I.) ఈగపులి the fly tiger, i.e., a spider. పులి౛ున్ను cheese of 'tiger's milk' equivalent to 'pigeon's milk' వాడు పెద్దపులి నలెమండిసాడు he was fierce, or, he acted in a many manner. పులిని చూచి నక్క వాత పెట్టుకొనినట్లు as a jackal brands itself to look like a tiger: a proverb meaning 'to ape another person.' పులికోచ puli-kōṭsa. n. The tarantula, a large venomous spider. పులిగోరు puli-gōru. A tiger's claw, used as the central ornament of a necklace. పులిచెవులాకు puli-chevul-āku. n. Tiger's ears; a certain medicinal plant. పులి౛ూదము puli-ḍzūdamu. A game like drafts. One sort is called గుమ్మడికాయపులి౛ూదము, because played with gourd seeds H. iv. 148. పులిటెంకి puli-ṭenki. n. Variegated colour. పొడలపురుగు a spotted worm or serpent. పొడకట్టు poḍa-kaṭṭu. v. n. To make an appearance, to seem, appear, be visible, కనబడు, ప్రత్యక్షమగు, తోచు. నాకు ఆలాగు పొడకట్టినది it struck me so. పొడగను, పొడగాంచు or పొడచూచు poḍa-ganu. To see, view, behold. చూచు. A goat. మేకపిల్ల a kid. మేకవన్నెపులి a tiger of the color of a goat. i.e., a wolf in sheep's clothing. వెంటిమేక a she-goat. మేకపోతు a he-goat. పిల్లలుమేకలుగలవారము I am the head of a large family containing many individuals of both sexes. The Indians goat has excrescences like teats on the neck: as these are useless, వాడు వట్టిమేక మెడచన్ను denotes He is a mere useless burden or appendage. మేకతిండి meka-tinḍi. n. That which feeds on goats, i.e., a wolf, తోడేలు, మేకము [borrowed by Skt. from Tel.] n. Same as మేక. మేకమేయనాకు mēka-mēyan-āku. n. A certain poisonous herb. H. iv. 14.
