(p. 128) āśaucamu ā-ṣauchamu. [Skt. ఆశుచి] n. Pollution. అంటు. Mourning on the death of a relative; or imaginary pollution proceeding from the birth of a child; మయిల, సూతకము, (లేక) పురుడు. The former is commonly termed మృతాశౌచము the latter జాతాశౌచము. Hence ఆశౌచము పట్టు to go into mourning.

(p. 189) ennu ennu. [Tel.] v. a. To count, reckon; think, esteem, believe. To care for, regard. To narrate ఎంచు, గణించు. ఎన్నువ ennuva. n. Reckoning ఎన్నిక. A song of mourning in which the virtues of the deceased person are extolled. ఆడువారు ఏడ్చినపుడు పాడే చచ్చినవారి చారిత్రము.

(p. 505) taddinamu tad-dinamu. [Skt. తత్+దినము.] n. Lit. 'That day,' i.e., a commemoration anniversary, or annual mourning for deceased persons. తద్దినముపెట్టు to keep or celebrate 'that day.' తద్దినముకొని తెచ్చుకొను (proverb) to run one's head against a wall.

(p. 866) badde badde. [Tel.] n. The fag end or selvage of a web, వస్త్రముమొదలు, వస్తి, బట్టమొదటిభాగము. A slip of cloth. వస్త్రఖండము. బద్దె మెడకు వేసుకొని కర్మము జరిగించెను he performed the funeral rites putting on a slip of cloth round his neck as a mark of mourning. Also, a thin or flat piece of wood as వింటిబద్దె or కావటిబద్దె. నవారుబద్దె a tape. బద్దెగుండ్లు baddè-gunḍlu. n. Little balls like marbles flicked from the finger-ends.
