(p. 21) akṣaramu aksharamu. [Skt. lit Eternal. imperishable.] n. A letter, a single syllable, a character of the alphabet, hand writing. A single syllable, whether of one letter or more. Thus the word సంస్కృతం Sam-skru-tam is termed a word of three letters. ఏకాక్షరము a monosyllable. సంయుక్తాక్షరము two or more letters united in one syllable, as స్త్రీ wherein four letters are united. త్య్రక్షరి try-ak-shari; the sacred or mystic syllable (ఓం AUM, or O'M a name of the Deity) that contains three letters. అక్షరజ్ఞుడు a man of letters. అక్షరాభ్యాసము beginning to learn the alphabet or the first principles of a language; మంత్రాక్షరము a cypher of syllable used in magic. ఇది ఆయన అక్షరము కాదు this is not his handwriting. నీవద్ద అప్పుగా తీసుకొన్న రూ 300 అక్షరాల మున్నూరు రూపాయీలు i.e., 'Rs. 300 (three hundred Rupees.)' here the same sum is denoted in writing as well as in figures. వాడు నిరక్షరకుక్షి he is an illiterate man. వానికి నోట్లో అక్షరాలు లేచియున్నవి his mouth is inflammed. అక్షరవిన్యాసము, the array of letters, writing.

(p. 127) āvāhanamu āvāhanamu. [Skt.] n. Calling, attraction (as opposed to విసర్జము repulsion.) The invocation (of the deity or evil spirits by mystical words, the bringing down the spirit of a god into an image.)

(p. 289) kuṇḍalamu kunḍalamu. [Skt.] n. An earring. చెవిపోగు, కుండలి kunḍali. n. One who has earrings. పోగులు గలవాడు. A snake or serpent పాము. A mystic phrase for the spinal marrow. A circular dance. కుండలాకారనృత్యము. (భార. విరా. i.) కుండలిస్థానము or కుండలిని or కుండలిశక్తి the pineal gland. సుఘమ్న (Vasu. Pref. 71.) Heyne says, a name of the తెల్ల ఉప్పిడి చెట్టు. కుండలినాడి. కుండలించుkunḍal-inṭsu. v. t. To put or mark a cipher round anything సున్నచుట్టు. (చంద్రా. i.) కుండలీ కరణము kunḍali-karaṇamu. n. To cancel by drawing a circle round an erroneous line. Giving or making a cipher సున్నచుట్టుట.

There are said to be fourteen of these Manus, viz., స్వాయంభువు, స్వారోచిషుడు, ఉత్తముడు, తామసుడు, రైవతుడు, చాక్షషుడు, వైవస్వతుడు, సూర్యసావర్ణి, దక్షసావర్ణి, బ్రహ్మసావర్ణి, ధర్మసావర్ణి, రుద్రపావర్ణి, రౌచ్యుడు, భౌచ్యుడు. మనుజుడు or మనుష్యుడు manujudu. n. (p. 1052) yantramu yantramu. [Skt.] n. A contrivance, machine, implement, instrument, apparatus. A diagram or figure of a mystical nature, an astrological character: a talisman, or amulet. A pump. సాధనము, యుక్తియుక్తమైనకరణము. 'జిలుగుకెంపుల యంత్రములమేతలంటక చాలసోలుచుతూలు శారికలను.' Ila. iv. 58. ఇక్షుయంత్రము a sugarcane mill. A. ii. 94. 'కలయంత్రధారలకప్పికప్పి.' (p. 1236) vyāhāramu vyāhāramu. [Skt.] n. Voice, speech, a word. వాక్కు, ఉక్తి, వచనము. వ్యాహృతము vyā-hṛitamu. adj. Uttered, spoken, announced. ఉక్తమైన, కథితమైన, పలుకబడిన, వచింపబడిన. వ్యాహృతి vyā-hṛiti. n.
