Water in general. ఈ బావి గంగ మంచిది the water of this well is sweet. నేను వాని యింట్లో కొంచెము గంగనైనా తాగలేదు I did not take so much as a draught of water in his house. గోదావరి గంగ the waters of the Godavery. ఆకాశగంగ the river of heaven, మందాకిని, పాతాళగంగ the river of nether world, భోగవతి. గంగోదకము gang-ōdakamu. n. Holy water from the Ganges. [Tel.] adj. Large పెద్ద. గంగరావి the large Pepul tree. Venerable పూజ్యము. గంగగోవు a venerable cow పంచగంగలు the five great rivers, i.e., the Cauvery, the Tungabhadra, the Krishna, the Godavery and the Ganges. గంగచిప్ప ganga-chippa. n. A large white cockle shell. గంగడోలు ganga-ḍōlu. n. The dewlap of cows and other animals.

(p. 641) nāgamu nāgamu. [Skt. from నగ a hill.] n. Lit: That which pertains to a mountain. A serpent, పాము. Particularly, a cobra. An elephant, ఏనుగు. Various species of పాములు are called కంపునాగము, చింత N. దుంప N. పీత N. శంకు N. జొన్న N. కృష్ణ N. కోడె. N. adj. Large, పెద్ద. When used as the second part of compound, (సమాసము) it means Excellent. శ్రేష్ఠము. నాగకంకణుడు nāga-kankanuḍu. n. Siva who wears a 'bracelet of snakes.' నాగకేసరము nāga-kēsaramu. n. The small tree termed Mesua ferra. Rox. ii. 605. నాగగన్నేరు a large species of Oleander. నాగగొలంగ nāga-golanga. n. A plant called Murraya exolica. Rox. ii. 374. నాగజెముడు nāga-jemuḍu. n. A plant called కుంజర or నాగస్ఫోటము. నాగపడిగలు nāga-paḍigalu. n. Earrings in the shape of the expanded head of the cobra de capella. నాగపడిగలదండ a necklace. నాగపాశము nāga-pāṣamu. n. The serpentine weapon of Varuna. Nooses twining like serpents. W. on Vish. P. 140. నాగబంధము nāga-bandhamu. n. The serpent's embrace, i.e., both wound together in an upright position as shown in various sculptures. అభినయసంయుత హస్తభేదము. నాగబెత్తము nāga-bettamu. n. A cane with a metal tip at the end. నాగమళ్లె nāga-malle. n. The prickly pear; the plant named Justicia nasuta, అష్టపత్రిక. Rox. i. 120. నాగలోకము nāga-lōkamu. n. Lit: The serpent world, i.e., the nether world, పాతాళము. నాగవాసము nāga-vāsamu. n. The subterranean world of Nagas or fairies, నాగలోకము. A staple or a ring for a hasp, because shaped like a snake's head. తలుపుగొళ్లెముబైట తగిలించేది. The iron stays that diverge from the poles of a palanquin. A dancing house or theatre; a set of dancing girls, a troop of strolling players, నాట్యశాల. వేశ్యలమేళము. నాగస్వరము or నాగసరము nāga-svaramu. n. A hautboy, a kind of clarionet. A pipe used by snake players, పాములవాడు ఊదు బుర్ర. నాగాంతకుడు nāg-āntakuḍu. n. Lit: The killer of serpents, i.e., the eagle, గరుత్మంతుడు. నాగాననుడు nāgānanuḍu. n. Lit: 'Elephant faced', an epithet of Gaṇēsa. నాగు, నాగులు, నాగువు or నాగుబాము nāgu. n. A cobra. నాగము. నాగులుచీర a sort of petticoat woven with red stripes. నాగులచవితి nāgula-ṭsaviti. n. A festival devoted to serpent worship, held in the month of భాద్రపదము. నాగేంద్రుడు nāgēndruḍu. n. The kind of the Naga fairies.

(p. 737) pātāḷamu pātāḷamu. [Skt.] n. The nether world, Hades, క్రింది లోకము. ఆ గుంట పాతాళము వలెనున్నది that pond is as deep as Hades. ఈ బావిలో నీళ్లు పాతాళములో నున్నవి the water is very low down in this well. 'పాతాళప్రశ్నలుమాని మేల్కొనుము.' A. vi. 77. టీ పాతాళప్రశ్నలుమాని అధోగతి ప్రశ్నలు విడిచిపెట్టి, దూరప్రశ్నలుమాని, నిండా గూఢముగా నుండేదానిని అడగడమును చాలించుకొని పాతాళగంగ. పాతాళగంగ pātāḷa-ganga. n. The name of the river that flows through the Hindu Hades. Also, the name of that branch of the Krishna which flows past Sri Sailum. పాతాళభది pātāḷa-bhēdi. n. A grappling hook or drag to recover things sunk in a river.

(p. 738) pādu or పాది pādu. [Tel.] n. A garden bed or plot smaller than a మడి. Also, the watered earth round a tree. The area or areola round the nipple or round a sore. Underneath, the nether portion, క్రిందు. Steadiness, నిలుకడ. పాదుకట్టు pādukaṭṭu. v. n. To divide into beds. పాదుకొను or పాదునిలుచు pādu-konu. v. n. To be grounded, established firm. To take root or gather strength have a footing. నాటుకొను, నెలకొను, తగులుకొను, నిలుచు. పాదుకొన్న being well grounded. పాదుకొలుపు pādu-kolupu. v. a. To fix, to ground, to establish. నాటునట్లుచేయు, స్థిరపరుచు. 'భక్తియుక్తిప్రసన్నత పంకజాక్షు, పాదపద్మంబులందునే పాదుకొలిపె.' Vish. i. 3.
