(p. 222) ḥ The H, as in the words దుఃఖము duhkhamu, స్వతః swatak, or, swataha. It is denominated విసర్గ Visarga and pronounced Aha and is used only in Sanskrit words.

(p. 17) aṃśamu amṣamu. [Skt] n. A share, part, portion, a fraction; the denominator of one; a degree of latitude or longitude (Geog.); a subject భాగము, విషయము, దేవుని యంశమున పుట్టినవాడు he who is born from a portion of the deity, he who is of divine origin; అంశపురుషుడు a fortunate man, a man of talent or parts. వర్ణనాంశము a descriptive part or passage in a poem. ఈ అంశము నాకు తెలుసును I am acquainted with this subject. ఈ అంశములో in this respect. వాడు అన్ని అంశములు తెలిసినవాడు he knows every thing. అంశచక్రము a table consulted by astrologers in casting nativities, an astrological diagram for ascertaining the degree of the sun in any sign. దశాంసము the tenth part; అంశసవరణ = reduction of fractions; అంశనీయము or అంశ్యము = that which is divisible.

(p. 69) abhidhānamu or అభిధేయము abhi-dhānamu. [Skt.] n. A name, an appellation, a title నామము, పేరు. అభిధాయకము adj. Designated. పేరుగానుండే ఈ శబ్దములు ప్రథమావిభక్త్య భిధాయకములుగావున as these words express the nominative.

A tenor note, similar to that of the cook when crowing; also, a note like that of the linnet or cuckoo. The musical treble. 'The five faced;' an epithet of Siva. పంచాక్షరి panch-ākshari. n. The 'five syllables.' that is, a certain spell or holy name 'నమశ్శివాయ' Na-mas-Si-vā-ya or 'Salutation to Siva,' similar to the five syllables 'A-ve-Ma-ri-a.' పంచేంద్రియములు panch-ēndriyamulu. n. A. vi. 75. ఆమె పసుపుకుంకుమ యెన్నటికిని పోదు lit: She will never lose her turmeric and red paint, i.e., she will never become a window. పసుపుకుంకుమ a phrase for pin money, or dower, because it is money given to a bride, nominally to supply her with yellow and red paint for the forehead. పసుపు కుంకుమముపుచ్చుకొను to ratify a marriage by accepting these on behalf of the bride. పసుపు చాయ pasupu-ṭsāya. n. Yellow colour. పసుపుపిట్ట or పసుపుముద్ద n. Lit. The saffron bird. The Baya, or Weaver bird, Ploceus baya. (F.B.I.) గిజిగాడు.

(p. 837) prayōgamu pra-yōgamu. [Skt.] n. An application, use or employment, as of a weapon, tool, word, or a spell. Administration of a medicine, నడుపుట. A usage. In grammar, a voice. కర్తృ కర్మ క్రియల కూడిక. మహాబిల్వాదిప్రయోగము a prescription of Bilwa and other drugs. దీనికి కాళిదాస ప్రయోగమున్ణది Kalidasa has used this word. యక్షీణీప్రయోగముచేయు to bewitch or send a devil into (a person.) ఈ ఔషధప్రయోగముచేసినాడు he administered this medicine. విషప్రయోగముచేసి చంపినాడు he killed him by means of poison. బాణప్రయోగముచేసినాడు he used an arrow, i.e., discharged it. ప్రయోగించు pra-yōginṭsu. v. a. To use, practise, administer; use, as a weapon. ఉపయోగించు. ప్రయోజకుడు pra-yōjakuḍu. n. One who uses. The original instigator of any act. A clever man, a genius. కార్యమును నెరవేర్చువాడు. వాడు శుద్ధ అప్రయోజకుడు he is quite a useless person. ప్రయోజనము pra-yōjanamu. n. Use, advantage, profit. A thing to be kept or observed, as a holy day, or a feast పండుగ. An affair, business. కార్యము. A cause, motive. హేతువు. శుభప్రయోజనము a happy occasion (as a wedding.) రేపు మాయింట్లో కొంచెము ప్రయోజనము గనుక రావడానికి వల్లలేదు I cannot come to-morrow as there are some rites to be observed at home. అక్కడికి నీవుపోయినందుకు ఏమి ప్రయోజనము what is the use (good, or advantage) of your going there? ప్రయోజనప్రస్తుతములకు వారిని మేముపిలువడములేదు we do not invite them to parties. In Grammar, ప్రయోజ్యకర్త the indirect agent (in the instrumental case.) ప్రయోజకకర్త the direct agent (in the nominative case.)

(p. 896) beṇḍu benḍu. [Tel.] n. Cork, pith. A float used in angling. The shrub termed Aschynomine aspera. జీలుగు. adj. Sapless, నిస్సారమైన. బెండ్లదంట్లు sapless stalks. Middling, that is neither good nor bad, poor, indifferent. నడితరము, నడుమనుండే. మధ్యపువెండి inferior silver, much alloyed. మధ్య madhya. n. A girl of from 13 to 18 years of age.
