(p. 845) prāṇamu prāṇamu. [Skt.] n. Air, wind, breath, life, vitality, the living soul. గాలి, హృదయమందలి గాలి, హృదయమందలిగాలి, ఉసురు. In Grammar, a vowel. ప్రాణముతోనున్నవాడు one who is yet living. కొనప్రాణముతోనున్నాడు he is nearly dead. ప్రాణమువిడిచెను he breathed his last, gave up the ghost. పంచప్రాణములు pancha-prāṇamulu. n. The five vital airs, called ప్రాణము, అపానము, సమాణము, ఉదానము, వ్యాసము. అతడు దానిమీద ప్రాణములు విడుస్తున్నాడు or వానికి దానిమీద పంచప్రాణములు he loves her very dearly. ప్రాణముమీదకువచ్చేపని a most perilous affair. వానిప్రాణము మీదికి వచ్చినది he is in danger of his life. ప్రాణముతో పట్టుకొనిరి they caught him alive. నా ప్రాణముపోయినా ఇట్లు చెప్పుదునా I will not say so even if it should cost me my life. వాడు పిడికిట ప్రాణములు పట్టుకొని వచ్చినాడు he arrived half dead. వానికి నేర్పుట ప్రాణసంకటమవును it would cost immense labour to teach him. ఆ విగ్రహమునకు ప్రాణప్రతిష్ఠచేసినారు literally, they gave life to the image, i.e., they performed the ceremony by which the god is supposed to be lodged in the image. ప్రాణత్యాగము suicide, ఆత్మహత్య. ప్రాణాతురము or ప్రాణసంకటము deadly peril. 'ప్రాణాతురమైనచో పరిణయంబులయందును బల్కుబొంకు సత్యాతిశయంబు.' M. III. v. 67. ప్రాణాపాయము mortal danger. ప్రానావనము saving the life. ప్రాణావసానకాలమున in his last moments. ప్రాణాహుతి the five morsels offered to the five vital principles. ప్రాణస్నేహము intimate friendship. ప్రాణదానముచేసినాడు he gave them their lives, he spared their lives. నా ప్రాణము ఉండేమట్టుకు as long as I live. ప్రాణగొడ్డము prāṇa-goḍḍamu. n. HD. ii. 1059. ముక్కు మొగము ఎగనట్టు మాట్లాడినాడు he talked as if I was a perfect stranger to him. ముక్కుపట్టనిముత్తెము a pearl not suited to the nose, i.e., a round man in a square hole. ముక్కుకమ్మిక a certain useless forest tree. ముక్కు mukku. v. n. To moan, groan. To mould or turn musty. To spoil or become half rotten. To strain or press, (as in pain.) ముక్క mukka. The frame in which the roller (పుల్లిరుసు) of a కపిల well rolls. ముక్కరము muk-ka-ramu. (ముక్కు + కారెము.) n. A nostril, నాసికారంధ్రము. ముక్కిడి mukkiḍi (ముక్కు + ఇడి) adj. Noseless. ముక్కులేని. ముక్కిడిరోగము caries of the bones of the nose. 'ముక్కిడి తొత్తుకు ముత్తెంపునత్తేల.' రామలింగశతకము. ముక్కిడి or కొండముక్కిడి. n. A certain large tree, Schrebera swietenoides. Rox. i. 109. ముక్కుదూలము or ముకుదూలము mukku-dūlam. n. The bridge or division of the nose. ముక్కునడిమియెముక. ముక్కుపురిడి or ముక్కుపూరేడుపిట్ట mukku-puriḍi. n. The common snipe. (Jerdon.) ఒకపక్షి. ముక్కుపొడి mukku-poḍi. n. Snuff. నస్యము, పొడుము. ముక్కుపోగు mukku-pōgu. n. A nose ring, ముక్కుమ్మి, నత్తు, ముక్కుబంతి or ముకుబంతి mukku-banti. n. A hole, aperture, orifice, fissure, opening, cavity, chasm. బొక్క, బె౛్జము, సందు. నవరంధ్రములు the nine apertures of the body; being the nostrils, ears, eyes, mouth, anus, and the private parts. వాడేవేళను నామీద రంధ్రాన్వేషము చేయుచున్నాడు he tries to pick holes in my conduct.

(p. 1375) svaramu svaramu. [Skt.] n. A voice, sound, noise, note, tone, tune. A vowel. An accent. Air breathed throough a nostril. కంఠధ్వని, రవము, ధ్వని, తానము; షడ్జాది సంగీతస్వరము, అచ్చు, ఉదాత్తాదివేదస్వరము, నాసాపవనము, ఒక ముక్కుగుండా విడువబడినగాలి. సప్త స్వరములు the seven notes of the gamut. స్వరభంగము a fluttering of the voice. అపస్వరము a false note. స్వరమండలము or స్వరమండలి a musical instrument composed of a number of reeds joined together and played on with the finger. H. v. 412. స్వరశాస్త్రము a certain mode of fortune-telling, wherein the breath is emitted from one or the other nostril, and this is taken as the basis of a certain calculation. ముక్కుగాలిని పట్టి ప్రశ్నచెప్పే శాస్త్రము. The breath that comes through the right nostril is called సూర్యనాడి and the breath that comes through the left nostril is called చంద్రనాడి. స్వరపేటిక svara-pēṭika. n. The larynx.
