(p. 103) astamayamu or అస్తమానము astamayamu. [Skt.] n. Sunset, evening. ప్రొద్దుక్రుంకడము. ఇసుక కమ్ముకొని లోకమంతా అస్తమానమైనట్టున్నది clouds of sand obscured the face of nature. అస్తమించు astamiṭsu. v. n. (p. 139) irulu irulu. [Tel.] n. Shades, shadows, darkness. చీకటి, చీకట్లు. ఇరులుకొను irulu-konu. v. n. To become dark or obscure. చీకటిపడు. ఇరులగొంగ irula-gonga. n. The destroyer of darkness. i.e., the Sun.

(p. 178) ṛṣi ṛishi. [Skt.] n. A prophet or saint, gifted with supernatural powers. A sage. The author of a spell or prayer. cf. ముని and యోగి. సప్తర్షులు means (1.) the 'seven sages,' viz., మరీచి, అత్రి, అంగీరుడు, పులస్త్యుడు, పులహుడు, క్రతువు, వసిష్ఠుడు; (or) కశ్యపుడు, అత్రి, భరద్వాజుడు, విశ్వామిత్రుడు, గౌతముడు, జమదగ్ని, వసిష్ఠుడు; (2) the constellation of the Great Bear. A proverb says ఋషిమూలము నదీమూలము the origin of a sage is as obscure as that of a river.

(p. 372) gumbhanamu gumbhanamu. [Skt.] n. Composition, in verse or prose. Obscurity, secrecy, mystery. అది యింకా గుంభనముగానే ఉన్నది it is still kept secret. పదగుంభనము the art of framing compound phrases. గుంభించు gumbhinṭsu. v. a.
