Formerly, of old. తత్పూర్వము previously, before which, before that (time or occurrence.) n. Former or ancient times, days of old. పూర్వ pūrva. n. The east. పూర్వకము pūrvakamu. adj. Originating in, made of, arising from. బుద్ధిపూర్వకమైన intentional, originating in purpose. వ్రాతపూర్వకమైన in writing. When added to many nouns it makes them adjectives as వినయపూర్వకమైన humble, humbly expressed. పూర్వకముగా pūrvakamu-gā. adv. As a token of. As, through, by way of, a token of. As, through, by way of, in accordance with. ప్రమాణపూర్వకముగా on oath. దానపూర్వకముగా willingly, voluntarily. మంత్రపూర్వకముగా by means of spells, magically. వినయ పూర్వకముగా humbly. పూర్వగంగ pūrva-ganga. n.The river Narbada. పూర్వజ pūrvaja. n. An objection to an argument. నామాటలు పూర్వపక్షములే all my words were mere statements. పూర్వపక్షమైపోయిన refuted, rebutted. పూర్వపర్వతము or పూర్వాద్రి pūrva-parvatamu. n. (p. 822) pōhaṇa pōhana. [Tel.] n. Joining, uniting, కూర్పు. Skill, నేర్పు. A fact or occurrence, సందర్భము, వ్యవహారము, పని. 'మనపురికావలి వారిని, దనరగబిలిపించియడుగ దగువారలుపోహిణయిటువలెవచ్చినదని, వినిపింతురు నడచుగతులు పృధ్వీనాధా.' Bdj. iv. 67. పోహణించు pōhaṇinṭsu. v. a. To string together. గుంభనచేయు, కూర్చు. 'సీ పాసగముత్తెపుసరుల్ పోహణించినలీల తమలోన దొరయుశబ్దములు గూర్చి.' KP. i. 88.

(p. 1088) roṭṭe or రొట్టియ roṭṭe. [H.] n. Bread, a loaf. భక్ష్యభేదము. రొట్టెరిగి నేతిలో బడుట (proverb) the bread broke and fell into the butter. Used of a happy occurrence. to denote one's luck.

(p. 1192) viśēṣamu vi-ṣēshamu. [Skt.] n. Sort, kind, species, variety, భేదము, విధము. A particularity, speciality, peculiarity, singularity. A specific quality, a distinguishing property, a characteristic. A particular thing, an individual, an object distinguished by some attribute or adjunct. Merit, excellence; something noteworthy or distinguished, a remarkable occurrence, news. చూడదగిన యుత్తమవస్తువు. అతిశయము, వింత, వింతరూపము. A charitable or virtuous action. సత్కార్యము, పుణ్యము. ఈ వైద్యునికి హస్తవిశేషముకద్దు this doctor has a fortunate hand. ఓషధివిశేషము a sort of herb. అక్షక్రీడావిశేషము a kind of diceplay. నేడేమివిశేషము what is there particular to-day? What is the matter to-day? ఆయన విశేషజ్ఞుడు he is a great scholar. adj. Extraordinary, eminent, remarkable, unusual. Much, more, abundant, greater, exceeding, surpassing. అతిశయమైన, వింతైన, అత్యంతమైన. విశేషమైన కార్యము a good deed. ఈ శ్లోకమునకు ఒక విశేషార్థమున్నది this verse has a secondary or recondite meaning. విశేషణము vi-ṣēshanamu. n. (In grammar). An adjective. విశేష్యలక్షణములనుచెప్పేది, గుణవాచకశబ్దము. విశేషించు vi-ṣēshinṭsu. v. n. To excel. అతిశయించు. విశేషించి or విశేషముగా vi-ṣēshinchi. adv. Abundantly, plentifully, much, exceedingly. తరచుగా, విస్తారముగా, మిక్కిలి, మిగుల. అతనితో విశేషించి సహవాసము చేయవద్దు you should not associate much with him. 'ఈ యత్రికుమారునింబోషించెదవిశేషించినేట నుండియు బ్రాణపదంబుగాగారవించెద.' T. ii. 178. విశేష్యము vi-ṣēshyamu. n. (In grammar), a noun or substantive. నామవాచకపదము, వస్తువాచకశబ్దము.

(p. 1272) saṅgatamu san-gatamu. [Skt.] adj. Joined, united, come together, coherent, consistent, proper, just, adequate, reasonable, suitable, appropriate, applicable. యుక్తమైన, యోగ్యమైన, సంలగ్నమైన, సంయుక్తమైన. 'కమనీయ వజ్రసంగతక వాటములు.' HD. i. 13. n. Friendship, స్నేహము. Meeting, చేరిక. సంగతి san-gati. n. A circumstance, matter, case, subject, affair, business, event, occurrence: the contents of a writing. Association, junction, union, company, society. Fitness, decorum, propriety. కార్యము, వ్యవహారము. పని, విషయము, సహవాసము, సాంగత్యము, యుక్తము, యోగ్యము, సంపర్కము. అతడు చెప్పిన సంగతి ఏమంటే he stated as follows. ఈ సంగతి నాకు తెలిసి on knowing this. ఆ సంగతి నేను వినలేదు I did not hear of it. అతడు బ్రతికియుండే సంగతి చనిపోయిన సంగతి తెలియలేదు I do not know whether he is alive or dead. సంగతిని or సంగతిగా san-gati-ni. adv. Properly, fitly. యుక్తముగా, తగినట్టుగా. 'పట్టు వస్త్రములు భూషణముల్ గల చందనంబులున్, సంగతిగట్టియుందొడిగి సయ్యనజూచె.' ప్రసన్న రాఘవశతకము. సంగతించు san-gatinṭsu. v. n. To happen, occur. సంభవించు. ప్రసక్తించు. సంగతుడు san-gatuḍu. n. (In composition,) one who is accompanied by, or beset by. కూడుకొన్నవాడు. 'అపరాహ్ణసంగతుండగుత పనుంగని ప్రొద్దుగ్రుంక దడవేగుదురీరిపులన.' M. VI. ii. 341.

(p. 1299) samakonu sama-konu. [Skt.+Tel.] v. n. To be got, to be obtained; happen, occur. లభించు, ప్రాప్తమగు, సిద్ధించు, కలుగు v. a. To attempt, to aim at. యత్నించు.
