(p. 45) adhamamu adhamamu. [Skt.] adj. Inferior; vile, low, despicable. నీచమైన. అధమంసేవకావృత్తిః servitude is the meanest work. నరాధములు the vilest of men. అధమాంగము = the lowest member of the body, the foot. అధమత్వము n. Inferiority, vileness. నీచత్వము. అధమాధమము adj. The basest, the worst, the lowest of the low. అతినీచమైన అధమాధముడు n. He who is the meanest of the mean, or basest of the base. మిక్కిలి నీచుడు. అధముడు adhamuḍu. n. A low fellow. నీచుడు.

(p. 217) ōḍu ōḍu. [Tel.] v. n. or v. a. To fail, lose, to be defeated or worsted, అపజయపడు. To flow or be lost, as blood, పారు. To shrink, hesitate, fall back భయపడు, సంకోచించు. ఆట ఓడినాడు he lost the game. జీవహింసకోడి shrinking or hesitating to take away life. ఓడుపడు to be frightened. వర్రు ఓడ అనగా ప్రవాహముగా పారు to rush, as a flood. M. Xiii. ii. 451. మీమోము చూడనోడి unable to look you in the face. ఓడకోడకు fly not! flee not.

(p. 220) ōhaṭamu ōhaṭamu. [Tel.] n. Withdrawal, retreat వెనుక తీయుట. ఓహటించు or ఓహటిల్లు ōhaṭinṭsu. v. t. To retire, retreat, fall back వెనుకతీయు, to give way తొలగు, to be worsted ఓడు, యుద్ధపరాఙ్ముఖుడగు. 'పంజ్తిముఖుండు సంగ్రామంబున రామునికోహటించిపరాజయ దైన్యంబుసయింపజాలక.' Bry. 941.

(p. 329) kōlupaḍu or కోల్పడు kōlu-paḍu. [Tel.] v. n. To be lost, ruined. చెడు, నశించు. To lose పోగొట్టుకొను. To appear అగుపడు. Vasu. ii. 51. M. R. v 267. కోల్పడ్డ foiled, worsted, lost పోగొట్టుకొన్న. కోలుపాటు or కోల్పాటు kōlu-pāṭu. n. loss, deprivation. పోగొట్టుకొనుట. Ruin చేటు.

(p. 494) ḍindu ḍindu. [Tel.] v. n. To sink అడగు, క్రుంగు. To dry up ఇంకు. To be defeated, ruined, quenched, extinguished. ఓడిపోవు. To expire. v. a. To kill, to ruin. n. Defeat, extinguishment, ruin. అధఃకరణము, హీనత్వము, నాశము. adj. Defeated, worsted, ruined, less, inferior. డిందుపడు ḍindu-paḍu. v. n. To be calmed, or settled. నెమ్మదిపడు. Vaijayanti. iii. 49. డిందుపరచు ḍindu-paraṭsu. v. a. To defeat, ruin, do away with, remove. బడలిక డిందుపరచు to do away with fatigue, to allay suffering. డిందుపాటు dindu-pāṭu. n. Alleviation. ఉపకాంతి.

(p. 530) tirivaḍu tiri-vaḍu. [Tel. తిరి+పడు.] v. n. To fly, to be routed, worsted, put to flight, or driven back. To be confused. కలతపడు. తిరివెట్టు tiri-veṭṭu. v. t. To confuse. కలత పరుచు.

(p. 557) togaru togaru. [Tel.] n. Red colour, scarlet. ఎరుపు. Scarlet thread ఎర్రమాలు. (There are three species of red dye. The best sort is called చిరువేరుతొగరు; the next sort is మారుబేరము తొగరు; and the worst, మడ్డితొగరు.) A certain fragrant flower. adj. Red. ఎర్రని. తొగరుమల్లి togaru-malli n. A sort of crystal. తొగరు ముక్కుపులుగు the scarlet beaked bird, i.e., a parrot. తొగరుచెట్టు togaru-cheṭṭu. n. A tree from which a red dye is made. Logwood Morinda citrifolia. తొగరుకొను togaru-konu. v. n. To become red. ఎర్రనగు.

(p. 888) bīḍu bīḍu. [Tel.] adj. Waste. Base, low, inferior, poor, second-rate, as rice, or a colour. నాపని యిప్పుడు నిండా బీడుగా నున్నది my affairs are in a very bad condition. బీడుది యెందుకు I don't want the worst. బీడుభూమి waste land. n. A waste, uncultivated land, barren land. Worthless iron. మట్టపు ఇనుము. చేనిలో పుట్టునబీడు ఎక్కడికి పోవును shall I not do what I will with my own? వెదురుబీడు bamboo jungle. గడ్డిపట్టినబీళ్లు grass commons, meadows kept for grass.

(p. 911) bōde , or బోదియ bōde. [Tel.] n. The trunk of a tree, ప్రకాండము. The bulging part of anything. The pediment or chapter of a pillar, స్తంభముమీద దూలముకిందనుండేది. Also, a runnel or small channel for watering trees. మళ్లకుకట్టేకాలువ. 'పూచిన యొక్క పోకమనుబోదియజేరి.' Swa. ii. 33. 'అరుగులుసున్నంపుటెరమంటి పట్టెలుతీర్చినగోడలుతేజరిల్ల. నిండుసున్న పుపూతనెరచాలుబోదెలు దిద్దినదేవరమిద్దెవర.' H. i. 167. 'మిద్దెలో బోదియమీదనున్న తలపొందుగదీసుకరమ్మటంచు.' ib. i.224. బోదెకొయ్య a piece of wood for a doorstep, గడపకిందికమ్మి.

(p. 1021) meṭṭu meṭṭu. [Tel.] v. a. &n. To step, walk, tread. అడుగుపెట్టు, నడుచు, త్రొక్కు. 'మెల్ల మెల్లన మెట్టుచుదొలగి అల్లనల్లనతలుపులండకు జేరి.' BD iv. 1523. To tread on, to trample on. To kick, to thrust with the foot. To wear, as sandals. తొక్కు, కాలితోతన్ను, పాదుకలు వేసికొను. 'ఏయేతీర్థములందు గ్రుంకిడితి రేయేద్వీపముల్ మెట్టినారు.' Swa. i. 26. 'నీళ్లమునుగనేల జలధిమెట్టగనేల మొనసివేల్పులకును మ్రొక్కనేల.' Vēma. iii. 259. n. Treading, త్రొక్కుట. A step of a ladder or stair, సోపానము. A step, grade, degree, rank. A mount a hill, తిప్ప, కొండ. The total, వెరసి. A custom house, సుంకము పుచ్చుకొనుచోటు. A stop on the lute, వీణెసరకట్టు. Curds mixed with water, as పులిమెట్టు sour curds, పుల్లనిమజ్జిగ. మెట్టు a shoe, slipper. పాదరక్ష. plu. మెట్లు. sandals, పావకోళ్లు. మెట్టించు meṭṭinṭsu. v. n. To lead to make one walk, to cause to be trampled. To suggest, to stir the mind. నడిపించు, తొక్కించు. To kill, చంపు. 'మింటన్ మ్రోసినమ్రోత తాలిమిని లో మెట్టింపమున్నీపునా యింటన్ బుట్టెదవంచుకంసుడుతొడిన్ హింసించె నీయన్నలన్.' B. X. 102. మెట్టిక meṭṭika. n. A step , మెట్టు, సోపానము. See also మెటిక. మెట్టిమల్లాడు meṭṭi-mall-āḍu. v. a. To trample down or all over, to ruin, హతముచేయు, ధ్వంసముచేయు. 'కర్మంబుల కట్టడలకులోనుగాక మాయలనుమెట్టి మల్లాడి నిర్మలలింగసేవ నెట్టిభక్తిఘటించు.' L. xvi. 229. మెట్టుకు meṭṭu-ku. adv. On the whole, altogether. In fact, in all, at the most, at least, at any rate. In short, at the best or worst, once for all, finally, at last, in the end, after all, withal, yet still. తుదకు. మెట్టుకుపోయినాడు of course he is gone. మెట్టిల్లు (మెట్టిన + ఇల్లు) the mother-in-law's house, ఆడుదాని అత్తగారిల్లు. మెట్టుబ్రాలు sacred rice, తలబ్రాలు.
