Swa. iii. 163. ఆకట్టు (ఆక+కట్టు) ākaṭṭu. v. i. To prevent, hinder, check. నిరోధించు. ఆకపడు āka-paḍu. v. i. To intervene, to interpose. అడ్డిపడు, రామా: కిష్కిం: ఆకపెట్టు āka-peṭṭụ. v. t. To prevent.

(p. 85) arlupeṭṭu for అళ్లుపెట్టు arlu-peṭṭu. [Tel.] v. a. To set a branch for a creeper to spread over. పాకుడుపెట్టు.

(p. 90) allaṭapeṭṭu allaṭa-peṭṭu. [Tel. అల్లటము+పెట్టు] v. a. To annoy, harass. 'అల్లనమూ డేడులయ్యె నన్నింత యల్లటపెట్టెదోయయ్య నేనెరుగ.' Bhallā. 1. 455. అల్లటము allaṭamu. [Tel.] n. Annoyance. అల్లాటము.

(p. 120) āraṭamu āraṭamu. [Tel.] n. Distress, grief, వంత, ఖేదము, పరితాపము. ఆరటించు or ఆరటపడు āraṭinṭsu. [Tel.] v. n. To grieve. పరితాపడు, పరితపించు. అరటవెట్టు āraṭa-peṭṭu v. a. To distress, to grieve ఆయాసపెట్టు, పరితపింపచేయు.

(p. 120) āraḍi āraḍi. [Tel.] n. Scandal, disgrace, censure. నింద. ఆరడి adj. Vain, useless. వ్యర్థము. ఆరడిపడు āraḍi-paḍu. v. n. To incur censure, to be blamed. నిందింపబడు. ఆరడిపెట్టు āraḍi-peṭṭu. v. a. To scorn, slight, To grieve, afflict. ఆరడిపోవు āraḍi-pōvu. v. n. To be the sport of scandal, to be slandered. To grieve. ఉ 'మొల్లసుగంధినామనసు మోహమునారడిబెట్టినీవు న న్నొల్లకవీడనాడెద వయో తగవా.' V. P. ii. 240.

(p. 127) āśa āṣa. [Skt.] n. Love, attachment, desire, wish, hope, passion, inclination, curiosity, avarice. ఆశాపాశము or ఆశాబంధము the chain of our lusts, fleshly ties. ఆశకొలుపు āsa-kolupu. v. t. To cause to desire, to allure, tempt, incite, encourage, to hold out prospects. ఆశపడు āṣa-paḍu. To desire, covet, long for. ఆశాపాతకుడు āṣā-pātakuḍu. n. A covetous man. ఆసపెట్టు āṣa-peṭṭu. To raise hopes or expectations, give hopes, tantalize. ఆశాబంధము āṣā-bandhamu. n. The bond of love or desire.

(p. 181) ekkupeṭṭu or ఎక్కుడుపెట్టు ekku-peṭṭu. [Tel.] v. n. To brace a bow.

(p. 182) ekkulupeṭṭu ekkulu-peṭṭu. [Tel.] v. a. To stir up, to provoke, excite, tempt. పురి కొలుపు.

(p. 185) eḍapeṭṭu eda-peṭṭu. [Tel.] v. t. To remove out of the way తొలగించు. To keep aside for further use, as rice మారు వడ్డించుకొనుటకు అన్నమును వేరేగానుంచు.

(p. 187) ettupaḍu ettu-paḍu. [Tel. from ఎత్తు.] v. n. To perish, to be abolished or done away with, to fall చెడు. To grow feeble. లేవలేకపోవు. ఎత్తుపడిన bedridden, feeble, helpless. ఎత్తుపడ్డగుర్రము a horse that is worn out. ఎత్తుపెట్టు ettu-peṭṭu. v. To raise, to support, to prop up. To urge, stir up, incite. H. i. 128. ఎత్తుపోవు Same as ఎత్తుపడు.

(p. 207) oṭṭu oṭṭu. [Tel.] n. An oath శపథము. A penalty, curse, ban, interdiction నిరోధము. నిద్రపట్టితే ఒట్టు a curse on me if I slept! ఆ దారి చూపు, నేను పోకపోతే ఒట్టు shew me the way and it shall be my fault if I do not go. See ఆన. ఒట్టుపెట్టుకొను oṭṭu-peṭṭu-konu. v. i. To take an oath. ఒట్టుపెట్టు oṭṭu-peṭṭu. v. i. to adjure, to impose a vow or solemn promise. T. ii. 98. To ban or forbid by a curse. ఒట్టువిడుచు to remove an oath or interdiction ఆనవిడుచు.

(p. 213) orapeṭṭu ora-peṭṭu. [Tel.] v. t. To test gold by the touchstone. ఒరగొను.

(p. 228) kakku kakku. [Tel. from కరుకు] n. A notch. roughness: కక్కులు dents, notches: teeth: the rough part of a millstone or of a saw the toothed part of a file, sickle, or saw. కళ్లెకక్కులు teeth of a horse's bit. కక్కుపెట్టు kakku-peṭṭu. v. t. To set or sharpen a saw, &c. కక్కు వేయు kakku-veyu. v. t. To roughen, or set (a saw or mill stone.)

(p. 240) kanipeṭṭu kani-peṭṭu. [Tel.] v. n. To wait, expect. ఎదురుచూచు. To watch, guard, tend. To find out, discover. మిమ్మును కనిపెట్టుకొని ఉండేవారు your dependants.

(p. 241) kanupeṭṭu kanu-peṭṭu. [Tel.] v. n. Same as కనిపెట్టు.
