(p. 4) aṅgavradakṣiṇamu anga-pradakshiṇamu. [Skt.] n. Rolling the body like a log to the right for a distance or round a temple, as a religious vow or penance. ప్రార్థన చేసికొనువాడు గుడి మొదలగువాటికి ప్రదక్షిణముగా దొరలుట.

A recluse, an ascetic, devotee. తపస్విని a female recluse. తపోధనుడు tapō-dhanuḍu. adj. Renowned for self-mortification, distinguished in sanctity తపస్సేధనముగా గలవాడు. తపము [Skt. from తప = తాపము] n. (p. 619) dhanamu dhanamu. [Skt.] n. A herd of cattle. ఆవులమంద. (Gf. Lat. pecus.) Treasure, property, resources, wealth. In mathematics, it is the equivalent of the word 'plus.' (Warren.) (Metaphorically) a talent 'అభిమానంబు ధనంబుగా' (Bobbili Padya. ii. 129.) surely honour is wealth. క్రయధనము the price paid, the cost price, the purchase money. స్త్రీధనము dowry or pin-money. ధనద్విగుణము అయినది the interest equalled the principal. ధనదాయపరులు beneficent persons. ధనంజయుడు dhanan-jayuḍu. n. A title of Agni or Vulcan, the god of fire: as being the 'vanquisher of wealth.' Also, of Arjuna, అర్జునుడు. ధనంజయపురము dhananjaya-puramu. n. A volcano. The యోని, as being the abode of vital heat. అగ్ని మండలము or అగ్నిపురము. ధనడము dhanadamu. adj. Beneficient, liberal. ధనదుడు dhanduḍu. n. A beneficent or liberal man. దాత. A name of Kubēra, the god of riches. ధనికుడు, ధనవంతుడు, ధని or ధనుడు dhanikuḍu. n. One who is rich, a wealthy man, a rich man. పాండిత్యధనుడు one who has a richly stored mind: a highly accomplished man. తపోధనులు great saints: those who abound in penances. పుణ్యధనులు those who are rich in good works. (p. 847) prāyamu prāyamu. [Skt.] n. Age, time of life, జీవితకాలము, ఈడు, వయస్సు. Puberty, youth, prime, bloom. యౌవనము. లేప్రాయము fresh age. ప్రాయపువాడు a young man. ప్రాయపుది a young woman. A preparation for dying దేహత్యాగార్థివ్రతము, ప్రాయోపదేశము. Death, చావు. Exceeding much, a multitude, సమూహము, బాహుళ్యము. adj. (used in composition.) like, resembling, సమానము. పశుప్రాయుడు a brutish man. మృతప్రాయుడు one who is as good as dead. అది వానికి తృణప్రాయము he values it no more than a straw వానికి అబద్ధము తీర్థప్రాయము telling lies is all his delight. ప్రాయశః prāyaṣah adv. Frequently, for the most part. బహుశా. ప్రాయశ్చిత్తము prāyaṣ -chittamu. n. Expiation, propitiation, penance, absolution, recompense, retribution, పాపరిహారముకొరకు చేయుకర్మము. జీవప్రాయశ్చిత్తము certain expiatory ceremonies performed over a dying person. తనకొమారునికి ప్రాయశ్చిత్తము చేయించినాడు he had his son purified by expiatory rites. ప్రాయోపవేశము or ప్రాణాచారము prāy-ōpavēṣamu. n. Fasting in order to die, starving to death voluntarily. పస్తుపడియుండి ప్రాణమును విడిచిపెట్టడమనేవ్రతము. ప్రాయోపవేశముచేయు or ప్రాణాచారముచేయు prāy-opavēṣamu-chēyu v. n. To meet death by fasting in fulfilment of a vow.

(p. 1059) raṅku or రంకుతనము ranku. [Tel.] n. Adultery, whoredom, fornication. జారత్వము. Trouble, ill. రంకులుకట్టు too accuse one of adultery. To slander. మారు నోములు ఒక రంకుతో పోయినవి one act of impurity will ruin a hundred years' penance. నాకెటు పోయినా రంకే whichever way I go I get into trouble. 'రంగకుటెలదీగెబోణులు.' loose women. P. iv. 255, 256. రంకాట rank-āṭu. n. Committing adultery. రంకాడుట, జారత్వముచేయుట. రంకాడు or రంకుపోవు rank-āḍu. v. n. To commit adultery, జారత్వముచేయు. రంకుబోతు ranku-bōtu. n. An adulterer or adulteress. జారుడు, జారిణి. రంకుమగడు ranku-magaṭu. n. A gallant, a man of loose conduct. జారపురుషుడు. రంకురాలు, రంకులాడి or రంకెత ranku-ṭ-ālu. n. An adulteress, a loose woman. వ్యభిచారిణి. రంకుతెవులు or రంకుజాడ్యము a veneral disease, మేహరోగము. రంకులరాట్టము or రంకులరాట్నము rankula-rāṭṭamu. n. The machine called a merry go-round, పిల్లకాయలను కూర్చుండబెట్టి తిప్పే యంత్రము.

(p. 1176) vidhi vidhi. [Skt.] n. An order, command, rule, law. నియోగము, విధానము. An act prescribed by the Vedas; an ordinance; duty. వేదశాస్త్రోక్తవిధి, ఏర్పాటు. Providence. Fate, destiny, luck. భాగ్యము. Brahma, God. విధిలేక వెళ్లినాను having no alternative I went there పదిదినములు నీవు ఇక్కడ ఉండక విధిలేదు there is no alternative, you must remain here for ten days, నావిధినేముందును this is my fate, what can I say? విధవశమున దొరికినది, లేక, చిచక్కినది it was found by chance. యథావిధిగా నడిచినది it was done according to rule. విధించు vidhinṭsu. v. a. To order, command, ordain, prescribe, allot, adjudge, assign. ఆజ్ఞాపించు, నిర్ణయించు, ఏర్పాటుచేయు, కట్టడచేయు. వానికి ప్రాయశ్చిత్తము విధించినారు they appointed him a penance. ఈ శీక్ష విధింపబడినది this punishment was awarded. యాభైరూపాయలు అపరాధము (లేక, జులమానా) విధించినారు they sentenced him to pay a fine of Rs. 50. విధ్యుక్తము vidh-yuktamu. adj. Prescribed, legal, యథావిధియైన. విధ్యుక్తముగా vidh-yuktamu-gā. adv. Legally, in proper form or manner, యథావిధిగా.
