(p. 95) avalambiñcu avalambinṭsu. [Skt.] v. a. To take hold of any thing; depend on any person or thing. చేపట్టు, ఆశ్రయించు, ఆ మతమును అవలంబించినవారు Converts, those who embraced that creed. ధైర్యము నవలంబంచి picking up courage. ఆయనమాట నవలంబించినారు they embraced his opinion, or sided with him. అవలంబము or అవలంబనము avalambamu n. Taking hold of anything, hanging on or from. Adoption, or profession of certain views. గతి, ఆశ్రయము, మతావలంబనము the adoption of a religion. అవలంబితము adj. That which is adopted, as one's own.

(p. 435) cēyu chēyu. [Tel.] v. a. To do, make, perform. నొప్పిచేయు or నొప్పిపెట్టు to pain. వంటచేయు to cook. జగడముచేయు to quarrel. కైదుచేయు to imprison. స్వాధీనముచేయు to put in one's charge. నర్తకము చేయు to trade. మరుగుచేసికొను to take shelter, use as a screen. బేరముచేయు to settle the price. అప్పుచేయు to contract a debt. నన్ను ఆడదాన్ని చేసి looking upon me as a mere woman. ఈ బిడ్డ నెలఒళ్లుచేసినది the infant looks a month old already. బిడ్డయేమైనా ఒళ్లుచేసినదా is the child picking up flesh? కాజేయు to misappropriate, to settle, to kill. పల్లకి చేసికొన్నాడు he procured a palankeen. పెండ్లిచేసికొన్నది a wedded wife. చెయ్యిచేసికొనికొట్టె he closed his fist and beat them. అండచేసికొను to take refuge. రహస్యంబుచేసికొని యెరింగించెన్. (M. XIII. ii. 375) he told it as a secret. చేయు v. n. To do, act, behave. To be worth. అది పదిరూకలుచేయును it will be worth ten groats. వానికి జలుబుచేసినది he caught cold. చేయి chēyi. [lit: That which does or works.] n. The hand. చెయ్యి or చెయి. A ray కిరణము. A trunk తొండము. A wing. రెక్క Two cubit's length రెండుమూరలకొలది. A hold or grasp పట్టు. చేయించు chēyinṭsu. v. a. To cause to do or make. To get done.

(p. 766) puḍuku, puṇuku or పుణ్కు puḍuku. [Tel.] v. a. To pick up, to handle, to take with the five fingers. వ్రేళ్లతోతీసికొను. To pinch. To give a little, కొంచెముగా ఇచ్చు. To give, ఇచ్చు. నేలపుణుకు to grovel on the earth as in grief. ఆమె అన్నము పుణికిపుణికి పెట్టినది she gave good stintingly. n. A gift. ఈవి. Giving, ఇయ్యడము పుడుకుదొడుకు or పుడుకుపసి puḍuku-doḍuku. (పుడుకు+దొడుకు.) n. The cow that grants all that one wishes, కామధేనువు. పుడుకుగల్లు puḍuku-gallu. n. The stone that grants all that one wishes, చింతామణి. పుడుకుమ్రాను puḍuku-mrānu. n. The tree that grants all that one desires, కల్పవృక్షము. పుడకులు or పుణుకు puḍukulu. n. A kind of cake, భిక్ష్యవిశేషము. పుణికిరించు or పుడికిరించు puṇikirinṭsu. v. n. To give a little. కొంచెముగా ఇచ్చు. To fumble, to twitch or be convulsed, as the fingers picking the sheets, &c., పుణికిరింత or పుడికిరింత puṇikirinta. n. Fumbling; twitching. పుణికిళ్లు, పుడికిళ్లు or పుణుకులు puṇikiḷḷu. n. Poking, shoving. A romping game like Puss in the corner. 'మరియు బుడికిళ్లు మొదలుగామనసువచ్చినాటలన్నియు.' N. ix. 102.

(p. 1045) mōḍi mōḍi. [Tel.] n. The act of picking up a thing (kept at one's feet) by bending back like an acrobat, గణికాదులు మొగ్గవాలి కాలికిసమీపమందుంచిన వస్తువు నెత్తుట. Way, manner, air, style, విధము, రీతి. A whim, pettishness, crossness, ill humour, pique, malice, బింకము. Handwriting, దస్తూరి, వ్రాలు, వ్రాతయొక్క వైఖరి. రాజమోడి royal style, pomp, grandeur. A kind of craft, enchantment, connected with the concealment of a jewel or money, మంత్రగాడు పంతమువేసికొనిపెట్టేటిది. మోడివేయు to draw magic lines. మోడితీయు to break such a spell. మోడిఅక్షరములు or గొలుసుకట్టు a running hand. 'మోడిమానిసిన్ బలెజనితెల్పు మంచనిన.' Radha. i. 70. టీ మోడిమానిసిన్ బలె, ముర్ఖుడైన మనిషివలెనే.

(p. 1332) siddāyamu siddāyamu. [from Skt. సిద్ధాయః.] n. Saving in expenditure, economy. Embezzlement, pickings. A tax, fee. కర్చుకు ఇచ్చిన దానిలో కొంచెము కొంచెముగా తీసికొని కూడబెట్టడము, అపహరించడము, వర్తన, రుసుము.
