(p. 18) aṃsamu amsamu. [Skt.] n. A shoulder, భుజశిరస్సు. అంసకూటము, a bull's hump. అంసపాదికట్టె a small forked prop which supports the woodwork on which a roof is laid. A small forked stake used at intervals to relieve the shoulders of those who bear a car, &c., in procession. అంసఫలకము, the upper part of the spine.

(p. 18) akamu akamu. [Skt. from ఆ = not & క = happiness.] n. Ache, pain, affliction. Sin. దుఃఖము, పాపము నాకము = న+అకము = heaven, the sinless place.

(p. 73) abhyudayamu abhy-udayamu. [Skt.] n. Welfare, happiness, prosperity. మంగళము, శుభము, అభ్యుదయపరంపరాభివృద్ధిగా so that his prosperity may ever increase.

(p. 103) asukhamu a-sukhamu. [Skt.] Want of happiness, misery. సుఖములేమి.

(p. 115) ānandamu ānandamu. [Skt.] n. Happiness, bliss, delight. ఆనందబాష్పములు tears of joy. ఆనందించు ānandinṭsu. v. i. To be glad, to rejoice.

(p. 129) āsuramu ā-suramu. [Skt. from ఆసుర.] n. The Asura's fashion: the custom of the Asuras, such as rapine, murder, and violence. ఆసుర వివాహము. The marriage custom of the Asuras, by which the bride was purchased. ఆసురి āsuri. n. A female Asura.

(p. 138) immu immu. [Tel. imperative of ఇచ్చు] v. t. Give (thou.) See ఇచ్చు. ఇమ్ము n. A place, a home, Opportunity, convenience. State, plight. Beauty. ఇంపు. Expediency ఉపాయము, happiness, ease సుఖము ఇమ్ములేని inconvenient, pinched. ఇమ్ములను well, suitably బాగుగా. ఇమ్ము adj. Convenient, suitable, opportune, fitting. అనుకూలము, యుక్తము. whole, entire, ఆమూలము. Pleasant, fine. మనోజ్ఞము. Plain, evident. స్పష్టము. ఇమ్మెయి immeyi. adv. Thus. (See మెయి.) ఇమ్ముకొను immu-konu. v. i. To dwell, to live. వసించు, ఇమ్ముతప్పు immutappu. n. Difficulty. ఇక్కట్టు, సంకటము.

(p. 144) īḍgilabaḍu īḍgila-baḍu. [Tel.] n. To be supine, on the back. Same as ఈడగిలబడు. (q. v.)

(p. 146) īsapiṭṭa īsa-piṭṭa. [Tel.] n. The porcupine fish (Diodon hystrix). It is nearly globular and is covered with prickles.

(p. 147) īsapōvu , ఈసరపోవు īsa-pōvu. [Tel.] v. n. To pine, shrink. శుష్కించు. ఈసరపోనీక without omitting anything. రవంతైనా విడువక. 'వనితల నూరార్చి వారాలచ్చటికిన్ జనిమరలి వచ్చిన విధంబీసర పోనీక పూస గుచ్చిన తెరంగున నెరింగి.' HK. ii. 185.

(p. 155) uttānamu uttānamu. [Skt.] adj. Not deep. Turned on one's back. lying supinely, reclining. లోతులేని, వెలికిల తిరిగిన. ఉత్తానశయుడు n. One who lies on one's back.

(p. 168) uriyu uriyu. [Tel.] v. a. To sweat or leak. ఉప్పురిసిన గోడ a wall out of which salt oozes. ఇల్లు ఉరుస్తున్నది the house leaks. ఈ ఊరు ఉప్పురిసినందున as the land of that village turned saltish. Also, to move చలించు. To turn grey, as hair నెరయు. To ripen పక్వమగు. To pine away పరితపించు. ఉరుపు urupu. n. Leaking, soaking through. ఉరియుట.

(p. 190) eriyu eriyu. [Tel.] v. n. To burn; to pine, to sorrow. కాలు, మండు, బాధపడు, పరితపించు. ఎరియించు eriyinṭsu. v. a. To cause to burn. To inflame, afflict, hurt.

(p. 195) ēkāru ēkāru. [Tel.] v. i. To whimper, whine, fawn, long for. To languish, pine away. కృశించు, ఉడుగు. పాలకు ఏకారి ఉండే a child that is pining for milk 'వెతల నేకారుమదినిట్లువిటులజూచి.' H. ii. 112.

(p. 198) ēdu or ఏదువంది ēdu. [Tel.] n. A procupine. ముండ్లపంది. One species is called కోడియేదు but in the south it is called ఒంటరికాడు. HD. i. 512. ఏదుపెరికినట్లు or ఏదుపంది ముండ్లు తీసినట్లు like pulling out the porcupines quills. ఏదువాసన a disgusting smell like that of a porcupine. cf. 'It stinks like a badger.' ఏదుకర్రలవంకెలు (H. iv. 159.) a sort of grain. ఏదుగడ్డి ēdu-gaḍḍi. n. Andropagon contortus, or the Spear grass. (Watts.) ఏదువేట ēdu-vēṭa. n. A kind of chase. వేటలో నొక భేదము.
