(p. 75) amṛtamu a-mritamu. [Skt.] n. Nectar, ambrosia. Water, milk, clarified butter, the residue of a sacrifice. Final emancipation from matter and absorption in the Deity. సుధ, ఉదకము, దుగ్ధము, ఘృతము, యజ్ఞశేష ద్రవ్యము, మోక్షము, (వాడుకగా) మజ్జిగ. పంచామృతములు the five nectars, namely, water, milk, curds, ghee and honey. అమృతమునకు అంటులేదు nothing can defile buttermilk. వానిది అమృతహస్తము. he has a healing hand. వానిది అమృతవాక్కు his tongue is inspired. అమృతముహూర్తము n. An auspicious hour. శుభముహూర్తము. అమృతాంధసుడు n. One whose food is ambrosia, a god. దేవత. అమృతాంశువు n. That which gives forth soft beams of light, i.e., the Moon. చంద్రుడు.

(p. 78) araguṇḍetanamu ara-gunde-tanamu. [Tel.] n. Courage, spirit. గుండె, ధైర్యము. 'అద్దిర భక్తుని యరగుండెతనము.' BD. v. 207.

(p. 79) aravamu aravamu. [prob. Skt. అ+రవము without sound, i.e., having no aspirated. See Caldwell] n. Tamil ద్రావిడము. అరవలు Tamilians, Tamil people. నీకు అరవము వచ్చునా do you know Tamil?

(p. 89) alipiri alipiri. [Tel.] n. A lean man. బక్కవాడు. అలిపిరిది n. A lean woman.

(p. 98) aśarīravāṇi a-ṣarīra-vāṇi. [Skt.] The speech of an invisible being, a voice from heaven. ఆకాశవాక్కు. అశరీరి a-ṣarīri. n. A spirit, an incorporeal being. దేహము లేనివాడు. 'తనకునబ్బాలుచే చావుగలదని యశరీరి చేవిని' (Vish. viii. 78.) being warned by a voice from heaven that this child should cause his death.

(p. 110) ācariñcu ācharinṭsu. [Skt.] v. a. To practise, to observe, to be used to, to do habitually. To put in practice (the precepts of religion), to perform (bathing, &c.) To celebrate (a religious festival.) ఆచరణము ācharaṇamu. n. Doing, performing. ఆచారము, నడత. ఆచారము ācharamu. n. Practice, custom. Rule, fashion, mode, a course of conduct, institute or observance, Religious observance. మతాచారముచొప్పున according to the principles of the creed. ఆచారి āchari. n. A caste title borne by the Vaishnavite Brahmins, the men of the blacksmith and goldsmith castes. సదాచారి a man of good principles. ఆచార్యత్వము āchāryatvamu. n. The office of a priest. ఆచార్యుడు āchāryuḍu. n. A teacher. A priest: a spiritual guide or preceptor: one who invests the student with the sacrificial thread and instructs him in the mysteries of the religion.

A suicide or self murderer. ఆత్మజుడు ātma-juḍu. n. A son, as springing from oneself. ఆత్మజ్ఞుడు ātmagnyuḍu. n. A sage, who knows God and his own heart. ఆత్మనేపదము ātma-nē-padamu. n. The grammatical name for the middle voice in కొను; as వ్రాసికొను. ఆత్మవంచన ātma-vanchana. n. Self delusion. ఆత్మస్తుతి ātma-stuti. n. Self applause. ఆత్మార్థము ātmārthamu. adv. For oneself. ఆత్మీయము ātmīyamu. adj. One's own. తనది.
