To interpose, to help; to obstruct, impede. విఘూతమగు, వారించు. నా పనికి అడ్డుపడ్డాడు he threw obstacles in my way. భార్యను కొట్టబోతే కొడుకు అడ్డుపడినాడు as he was going to strike his wife his son interposed. నేనడ్డపడకపోతే వాండ్లు వత్తురు had I not interposed they would have died. అడ్డపాటు aḍḍa-pāṭu. [Tel.] n. Obstacle, hindrance, obstruction. అడ్డి, విఘ్నము. అడ్డబాస aḍḍa-bāsa. n. A nose jewel. బులాకి. అడ్డబొట్టు aḍḍa-boṭṭu. A cross mark worn by the Hindus on their fore-head. అడ్డమాను aḍḍa-mānu. A cross bar. వాడు అడ్డవాట్లు వేస్తున్నాడు he throws impediments in the way.

(p. 51) anādi an-ādi. [Skt.] adj. without beginning, eternal. అరంభములేని, నిత్యమైన. అనాదిబీడు immemorial waste, i.e., land that never has been brought under the plough. అనాదీయము [Skt.] adj. Immemorial, aboriginal, of unknown origin. పూర్వీకపు. అనాద్యము adj. Without origin, of unknown origin, everlasting. నిరంతరమైన, ఎన్నటికిని ఉండే. అనాద్యంతము without beginning and end.

(p. 77) araka araka. [Tel.] n. A plough with bullocks complete. సర్వావయవములుగల నాగటికి ఎడ్లను పూనినది. అరకలుకట్టు to harness a team. అరకలువిప్పు to unyoke the cattle. ఒక యెద్దు చనిపోయినది, అరకసాగక తొందరగానున్నది I cannot carry on my ploughing well as one of my bullocks is dead. అరకట్టరక a plough with a pair of bullocks. విడిచికట్టరక a plough with a change of bullocks. అరకాడు ara-kāḍu. (from అరక+కాడు) n. A cultivator, a ryot.

(p. 85) arru arru. [Tel.] n. The neck. కంఠము, పశుజాతి, మెడపంపు, కుతిక, ఆపద, హాని. A sore on a bullock's neck occasioned by ploughing. ఆ యెద్దు యొక్క అర్రు కొట్టు కొనిపోయినది the bullock's neck is hurt (by the yoke.) 'అందని ఫలముల కర్రుచాపగనేల.' Kalahasti.

(p. 119) āyaparacu āya-paraṭsu. [Tel.] v. a. To cultivate, bring under the plough. సాగుబడిచేయు.

(p. 123) ārya ārya. [Skt. √ ār = to plough.] n. The Skt form of Tel. అయ్య. ఆర్యపుత్రుడు ārya-putruḍu. n. (In dramas) Husbānd. ఆర్యావర్తము āryā-vartamu. The land of the Aryans, a name applied to northern India, between the Himalayas and the Dekkan. ఆర్యుడు āryuḍu. n. An Aryan; a good or respectable man, one worthy of reverence.

(p. 138) iru iru. [Tel. cognate with రెండు.] adj. Two, both. ఇరుకెలకులు or ఇరుగడ both sides. ఇరుగోరు both shares, the whole, the gross crop. ఇరుచక్కి both sides. ఇరుచాళ్లదుక్కి a second ploughing. ఇరుతిగ or ఇత్తిగ six at dice: ఇరుతూము or ఇద్దుము two bushels.
