(p. 13) andagiñcu andaginṭsu. [Tel.] v. n. To be adorned, to be pretty, to look well. సొగసుగానుండు. ఈ రత్నము ఇక్కడ అందగింపలేదు this gem does not look well here.

(p. 14) andāyattugānuṇḍē , or అంతాయత్తైన andāyattugānunde. [Corrupted from అందముగా] adj. Neat, pretty, handsome. సొంపుగానుండే. ఈ బండి అందాయత్తుగా నున్నది this carriage is neat.

(p. 61) apadēśamu apa-dēṣamu. [Skt.] n. Pretext, pretence. వ్యాజము, సాకు.

(p. 64) apārthamu apārthamu. [Skt.] n. Misinterpretation. తప్పు అర్థము. అపార్థముచేయు or అపార్థము చెప్పు to misinterpret or misconstrue.

(p. 71) abhiruciramu abhi-ruchiramu. [Skt.] adj. Very pretty.

(p. 122) āru āru. [Tel.] v. n. To teem with, be full of నిండు; to be or have. సొంపారిన beautiful. ఇంపారిన delightful. నిండారుగానున్నది it is full. అలరారు blooming. చెన్నారిన lovely. పొల్పారిన charming (compare the affix ఆరి as నేర్పరి, సొంపరి, &c.) గోజారు to trouble. సొంపారు to bloom, to be pretty. In such phrases as నూరారు వెయ్యారు the word అరు is not the numeral six, but is a form of అరు to be full; so వెయ్యారు means full thousand and నూరారు full a hundred. నూరారుముద్దులు a full hundred kisses. చేతులారంగ శివుని పూజింపడేని if he sacrifice not to Siva with his own hands. చేతులార రూకలు చెల్లిస్తిని I paid the money with my own hands. పని ఆరుమూడు అయినది the work is all in confusion, at sixes and sevens.

(p. 120) ārazamu ārazamu. [Tel.] adj. Elegant, pretty, bland, fine. ఇంపైన. n. Prettiness, grace, elegance. ఇంపు, సొగసు. ఆరజంబుగా ārajambu-gā. adv. Elegantly, gracefully.

(p. 156) utpātamu ut-pātamu. [Skt.] n. A prodigy, a preternatural phenomenon such as an earthquake, a comet, or an abnormal birth. ఉత్పాతపిండము a wonderful genius. త్రివిధోత్పాతములు marvels or signs in air, earth, and heaven. A. iv. 300.

(p. 170) uluku uluku. [Tel.] v. n. To start, quiver, (See the casual ఉలుచు) ముద్దులుకు కన్నులు eyes quivering with prettiness. 'కలికి లేనడు ములికికులికెన్.' she wagged her waist at him in derision. ఉలుకు n. Timidity, fright. జడుపు.

(p. 171) uḷakki or ఉల్లక్కి uḷakki. [Tel.] n. A lie. a joke, pretence. వట్టిది. Vasu. iii. 163.

(p. 203) aina aina. [Tel. for అయిన. relative p of అగు] p. p. 1. Being, existing. One who or which is or has become. యజమానుడైన రామయ్య Ramaya who was (his) master. Becoming, suitable, fit; అయిన గుణములు proper principles. అయిన దినము a fit day. అయిన వడ్డి the interest that accumulated. వాకయిన మనిషి my friend. As a conjunction it is thus used ఐన or అయినా or అయినను but though it were so, yet, వాడయినా వీడయినా be it that man or this, either one or the other. It is added to interrogatives as ఎక్కడ. &c., and it gives a strong emphasis as ఎక్కడనైనా wheresoever. ఎవ్వడయినా whosoever. ఎప్పుడయినా whenever. రెండుకోసులయినా at least two miles. ఎవ్వడైననేమి never mind who it was. It turns nouns into adjectives as సొగసైన pretty, having elegance. Else-where it is translated who is (and is added to adjective nouns, thus) కవి అయిన భీమన the poet Bhīmana. విద్వాంసుడైన కవి a poet who is a man of learning. Thus also in the plural ధనికులైన వర్తకులు merchants who are rich. ఐనను or ఐనప్పటికిన్ని although. but, అందుకు అయిన క్రమము the price of that. నాకైనను even to me మేనల్లుడైన అంతఃకరణవల్ల through the affection arising from his being a nephew. ఐనట్టయితే See ఐతే. మీది అయినట్టయితే should it be yours. ఐనప్పటికిన్ని conj. When it is so, even then, nevertheless, still, yet.

(p. 211) onaru onaru. [Tel.] v. i. To happen, chance, be. To become, suit, or agree. To be pretty, proper or agreeable. To appertain or belong to, to be attached to. కలుగు, పొసగు, సరిపడు, ఒప్పు. ఒనరు n. Convenience, facility, వీలు, వాటము, పొందిక. Elegance, gracefulness ఇంపు. ఆ దుర్గములో ఒనరులు చూచి లగ్గలెక్కినారు they spied out the convenient places in that fort or hill and then escaladed it. ఒనరగా onara-gā. adv. Elegantly, becomingly, fitly. ఒనరజేయు onara-jēyu. v. a. To grace or adorn. To fit or accommodate పొసగజేయు. ఒనరుపడు onaru-paḍu. v. i. To agree with పొందుపడు. ఒనరించు or ఒనరుచు or ఒనర్చు onarinṭsu. v. t. To make, form, do, effect, perform. చేయు. To celebrate (as a sacrifice.) To compose or frame, to write (a book). బాగొనరించు to do good, or benefit. ఎగ్గొనరించు to do harm, to injure. నాదమొనర్చి uttering a sound. ఊడిగము లొనరించి having served. యుక్తములగనొనర్తువు thou shalt render them acceptable. యుద్ధమొనర్చు to wage war.నగుబారొనరించును it will make them laugh.

(p. 212) oyyāramu or ఒయారము oyyāramu. [Tel.] n. Bloom, grace, shapeliness, the pride of beauty. సౌందర్యగర్వము. ఒయ్యారపు మాటలు pretty language, bragging. వయస్సు తప్పినా ఒయ్యారము తప్పదు old as he is he has still a sweet tooth in his head. ఒయ్యారకాడు oyyāra-kāḍu. n. A fop, a beau. ఒయ్యారి oyyāri. adj. Blooming, graceful, shapely, pretty. ఒయ్యారిపిక్కలు pretty legs. ఒయ్యారి or ఒయ్యారకత్తె oyyāri. n. A beauty, a graceful woman. A coquette.

(p. 216) osapari osa-pari. [Tel.] adj. Agreeable, pretty, lovely, nice, sweet. ఒసపరి n. A fine-looking man సుందరుడు. ఒసపరితనము osa-paritanamu. n. Agreeableness, prettiness, sweetness. సౌందర్యము.

(p. 223) kaṅkuḍu kankuḍu. [Tel.] n. One who pretends to be a Brahmin. కపటబ్రాహ్మణుడు. A savage who lives on eagles రాపులుగులను చంపి తిను బోయవాడు. Yama, the regent of death. యముడు Yudhisthira యుధిష్ఠిరుడు.
