(p. 129) āsuramu ā-suramu. [Skt. from ఆసుర.] n. The Asura's fashion: the custom of the Asuras, such as rapine, murder, and violence. ఆసుర వివాహము. The marriage custom of the Asuras, by which the bride was purchased. ఆసురి āsuri. n. A female Asura.

(p. 619) dhanamu dhanamu. [Skt.] n. A herd of cattle. ఆవులమంద. (Gf. Lat. pecus.) Treasure, property, resources, wealth. In mathematics, it is the equivalent of the word 'plus.' (Warren.) (Metaphorically) a talent 'అభిమానంబు ధనంబుగా' (Bobbili Padya. ii. 129.) surely honour is wealth. క్రయధనము the price paid, the cost price, the purchase money. స్త్రీధనము dowry or pin-money. ధనద్విగుణము అయినది the interest equalled the principal. ధనదాయపరులు beneficent persons. ధనంజయుడు dhanan-jayuḍu. n. A title of Agni or Vulcan, the god of fire: as being the 'vanquisher of wealth.' Also, of Arjuna, అర్జునుడు. ధనంజయపురము dhananjaya-puramu. n. A volcano. The యోని, as being the abode of vital heat. అగ్ని మండలము or అగ్నిపురము. ధనడము dhanadamu. adj. Beneficient, liberal. ధనదుడు dhanduḍu. n. A beneficent or liberal man. దాత. A name of Kubēra, the god of riches. ధనికుడు, ధనవంతుడు, ధని or ధనుడు dhanikuḍu. n. One who is rich, a wealthy man, a rich man. పాండిత్యధనుడు one who has a richly stored mind: a highly accomplished man. తపోధనులు great saints: those who abound in penances. పుణ్యధనులు those who are rich in good works. See ధన్యము.

(p. 764) puccukonu puṭsṭsu-konu. v. a. To take This verb like 'To take' in English is used in many senses, thus: To receive; to purchase. To eat, to drink to take medicine, poison, &c. To exact (service.) సెలవుపుచ్చుకొను to take leave or retire. సమ్మతిపుచ్చుకొను to take (one's) consent. అతడు వైష్ణము పుచ్చుకొన్నాడు he embraced the Vaishnava creed. పుచ్చుకోలు putsṭsu-kōlu. n. The act of taking, or receiving, పుచ్చుకొనుట.

(p. 901) bēramu bēramu. [Tel.] n. Trade, dealing, a bargain, బేరముసారము or బేరసారము trade, &c. (సారము being a mere expletive.) బేరకాడు bēra-kāḍu. n. One who makes a bargain, a purchaser, buyer. కొనువాడు, బేరమాడువాడు. బేరకత్తె bēra-katte. n. A woman who bargains or purchases. బేరమాడు or బేరముచేయు bēram-āḍu. v. n. To bargain. బేరముపోవు to go on a trading journey. బేరి bēri. n. A man of the Beri or merchant caste.

(p. 1189) vilucu or విల్చు viluṭsu. [Tel.] v. a. To buy, purchase, కొను. To sell, మ్ము. 'వేలులకనిమున్ను విలిచినగొరియ, బాల్పడి తేకున్న బండువసేయు.' BD. v. 113. కొలిచితిమోపెరి వేల్పుల, నిలిచితమో శూలధరుని నించించునెడన్, తలచితిమో దుర్వృత్తులు, విలిచితిమోవేదమంత్ర విద్యాతతులన్.' Chen. v. 428.

A species of loan on mortgage. ౛ట్టికాడు a middleman, క్రయనిర్ణయము చేసికొన్నవాడు; a buyer కొనువాడు; one who buys in order to sell to profit కొని అమ్మువాడు. ౛ట్టి బేరము a wholesale purchase. ౛ట్టికొను or ౛ట్టితీసుకొను ḍzaṭṭi-konu. v. t. To buy వెలకు తీసుకొను. ౛ట్టియిచ్చు ḍzaṭṭi-y-iṭsṭsu. v. t. To sell wholesale. అమ్ము, విక్రయించు.
