(p. 61) apadūru apa-dūru. [Skt.] n. Calumny, infamy, undeserved blame. అపవాదము. అపదూరుపడు v. n. To be calumniated, defamed. అపకీర్తినిపొందు. అవదూరు పెట్టు v. a. To slander, spread an ill report of one. ఒకరిమీద తప్పుమాటలు చెప్పు.

(p. 181) ekku ekku. [Tel.] v. a. & n. To rise, increase, swell. To appear (by its effects as wine, water, poison, or medicine.) To affect the mind. To prevail as a report; to come to notice వాని తలకు మదము ఎక్కినది he is beside himself with pride or lust. వానికి మత్తెక్కినది he is intoxicated. వడ్డియెక్కినది interest has accrued. ఎక్కినవడ్డి the interest that accrued. వాని దుష్టగుణములు నీకు ఎక్కినవి you have caught his bad habits, or, followed his example. వార్తకెక్కు to become the theme or topic of discourse. వన్నెకెక్కినాడు he became celebrated, rose to distinction. వాసికెక్కిన celebrated, honoured. ఎన్నికకెక్కినాడు one who has risen to reputation. పది గంటలపొద్దు ఎక్కిన వేళ when it was ten o'clock, lit. when the sun has mounted (to) ten hours. ఆ పనికి ఎవరును ఎక్కలేదు no one came forward, or volunteered for the business. అతని మాట యెక్కదు his word will not do, or avail. తలకు నీళ్లెక్కి ౛లుబుగానున్నది the water has got into the head and I have a cold. To mount on, get upon. మంచమెక్కు to take to one's bed. ఎక్కుకొను ekku-konu. v. a. To mount on ఆరోహించు.

(p. 190) eruka eruka. [Tel. from ఎరుగు] n. Knowledge, understanding. తెలివి, జ్ఞానము; acquaintance పరిచయము; notice, information, report, intimation. Fortune-telling సోదె, ౛ోస్యము. ఎరుకచెప్పు to tell fortunes. ఎరుకచేయు to make known, to give notice, inform, intimate, signify. తెలియజేయు. ఎరుకపడు to be plain or evident. స్పష్టమగు. ఎరుకమాలిన senseless, foolish, brutish తెలివిలేని. ఎరుకువ erukuva. n. A hospital. A barrack room. ఎడ్లచావిడి a cowhouse. సూరెకారముచావిడి salt-petre works or a saltpetre manufactory. చావటిమాటలు town-talk, common report: What everybody know. తల చావిడి a gate house or hall. కచేరిసావిడి a reception room.

(p. 786) peṭapeṭa peṭa-peṭa. [Tel. anuk.] n. A crashing or gnashing noise, a loud sound. కొయ్యమొదలైనవి బద్దలగుధ్వని. పెటపెటమను or పెటపెటలాడు peṭa-peṭa-m-anu. v. n. To produce a crashing sound. పెటపెట అను ధ్వనికలదిఅగు. పెటులు, పెటలు, పెటిలు or పెట్లు peṭulu. v. n. To crack or split, as paint, or as grain does when roasted. To explode or go off, as a gun. పగుళ్లుపారు, చిట్లు. 'కల్పాంత దీర్ఘనిర్ఘాతసంఘంబులు పెళపెళపెళమంచు పెటిలిపడిన.' N. iv. 244. పెట్లుక్రోవి, పెట్లదిమ్మె or పెట్లకంబము peṭlu-krōvi. n. A matchlock, a gun rocket or small cannon fixed in processions, అదురువేటుగొట్టము. పెట్లమారి petla-māri. n. One who makes himself or herself liable to be constantly beaten, దెబ్బలు తిను స్వభావముగలవాడు, లేక, స్వభావము గలది. పెట్లప్పు peṭl-uppu. n. Saltpetre, nitre. పెట్లుప్పుద్రావకము peṭl-uppu-drāvakamu. n. Nitric acid. పెటుకు or పెటుక్కు peṭuku. n. A snapping sound, పెటుక్కుమనేధ్వని. Disgust, విరసము. వెటులు or పెట్లు peṭulu. n. plu. The explosions or reports of a gun rocket. అదురువేట్లు. 'సీ పెటులుచప్పుడులాత్మ భీరుస్వయంగ్రాహ పరిరంభసుఖము ఖేచరులకొసగ.' Swa. v. 52. టీ పెటులుచప్పుడులు, అదురువేట్లధ్వనులు. పెటిలించు, పెటలించు or పెట్లించు peṭilinṭsu. v. a. To explode, to burst. పేలినల్దిక్కులను చెదరునట్లుచేయు. 'పేరినలవణంపు ఘట్టములు దృస్యదిరమ్మద దావముల్ దవుల్కొనిపెటిలించు నార్బటులకోయనగా.' A. iv. 122.

(p. 830) pratīti pratīti. [Skt.] n. Knowledge, common report. traditional, belief, a general impression; notoriety, reputation, fame, వదంతి, ప్రసిద్ధి. ప్రతీతము pratītamu. adj. Famous, celebrated, renowned, known, ప్రసిద్ధమయిన. ప్రతీతుడు pratītuḍu. n. A famous man, ప్రసిద్ధుడు.

To obtain notoriety. ప్రసిద్ధినిపొందు. 'గువ్వకొరకుమేనుగోసిచ్చి శిబిరాజు వార్తకెక్కి చాలవన్నెకెక్కె.' Vēma. 289. వార్తలాడు vārtaḷ-āḍu. v. n. To talk, speak, converse. మాట్లాడు, సంభాషించు. వార్తావహుడు or వార్తికుడు vārtā-vahuḍu. n. A messenger, వెళ్లి వర్తమానమును తెలిసికొని పోయి చెప్పువాడు.
