(p. 381) guruvu or గురుడు guruvu. [Skt.] n. A teacher, a preceptor, a master, a superior, a learned man, a father. A title or name of Brihaspati, tutor of the Gods, who was the husband of Tāra. గురువారము. guru-vāramu. n. Thursday. దొంగలగురువు a master thief, a ringleader. గురువు guruvu. n. Greatness గౌరవము, weight భారము. పూర్వజన్మార్జిత భూరికర్మముల గుర్వణగించునా కొడుక రావయ్య, BD. iv. 218. A long syllable, in prosody. Fast running వేగపు పరుగు. adj. Heavy, weighty, great, large, bulky: difficult, arduous. Reverend, venerable. గురుకార్యము a weighty matter. గురువుగా or గుర్వుగా positively or greatly అధికముగా. 'సర్వమాన్యము నీకు గుర్వుగానిత్తు.' BD. iv. 490. గురువుతేరు guruvu-tēru. v. n. To swell,వులుపారు to run very fast వేగపు పరువుగాపారు. To excel అతిశయించు. గురుత్వము gurutvamu. n. Greatness, weight, importance. Esteem. Heaviness, or languor. గురునాథుడు guru-nādhuḍu. n. The name of a certain village god, whose image is usually a mere block of stone, under a tree.

(p. 1027) mēka mēka. [Tel.] n. A goat. మేకపిల్ల a kid. మేకవన్నెపులి a tiger of the color of a goat. i.e., a wolf in sheep's clothing. వెంటిమేక a she-goat. మేకపోతు a he-goat. పిల్లలుమేకలుగలవారము I am the head of a large family containing many individuals of both sexes. The Indians goat has excrescences like teats on the neck: as these are useless, వాడు వట్టిమేక మెడచన్ను denotes He is a mere useless burden or appendage. మేకతిండి meka-tinḍi. n. That which feeds on goats, i.e., a wolf, తోడేలు, మేకము [borrowed by Skt. from Tel.] n. Same as మేక. మేకమేయనాకు mēka-mēyan-āku. n. A certain poisonous herb. H. iv. 14. (As Shakespeare says, 'The green sour ringlets whereof the ewe not bites.')

H. i. 245. మొనలారిపోయినకత్తి a knife with a blunt point. adj. Last, furthest, utmost. కడపటి. మొనకట్టు mona-kaṭṭu. v. n. To attempt with enthusiasm, ఉత్సహించు. n. Joy, rejoicing, enthusiasam, ఉత్సాహము. An amulet or drug used as a charm, పెట్టుమందులలో నొకటి. ఒకానొక స్తంభనమాలిక. 'ఇదిదారికట్టు మొనకట్టిది, కాంతావశ్యకరణమిది.' S. i. 18. 'జలాగ్నిస్థంభములును, మొనకట్టును వాకట్టును.' H. i. 174. adj. Rejoicing, enthusiastic, ఉత్సాహకరమైన. మొనకాడు or మొనగాడు mona-kāḍu. n. A leader of an army, a hero, a principal; a ringleader, శూరుడు, సేనాధిపతి, ముఖ్యుడు. దొంగలమొనగాడు a ringleader among thieves. మొనకొను Same as మొనయు. (q. v.) మొనచేయు mona-chēyu. v. n. To face or front in battle. మోహరించు. మొనచన్ను mona-tsannu. n. A nipple. Lit the tip of the breast. చూచుకము. మొనతప్పు mona-tappu. v. n. To be turned away as the face, to turn away from, విముఖమగు. 'మొనతప్పితిమి రణమున మన మకట మువ్వురము.' భార. సౌ. i. మొనయు monayu. v. n. and v. a. To be, appear, happen, కలుగు. To busy oneself. to engage in. To prepare, be ready, attempt, పూను, పనిపడు.
