Several different animals go by this name: as ౛వ్వాదిపిల్లి, భూతపిల్లి, నీటిపిల్లి, బావురుపిల్లి, ౛ంగుపిల్లి and some more. పునుగుపిల్లి, a civet cat. పిల్లికండ్లు blue eyes (lit: 'cat's eyes.') పిల్లికూత mewing. పిలికూన a kitten. పిల్లిలాగు like a cat, i.e., demurely, harmlessly. పిల్లిగుణము a feline disposition. కాలుకాలిన పిల్లివలె తిరుగుచున్నాడు he wanders about like a cat whose feet are burnt. పిల్లి n. A corruption of పల్లె as కొండపిల్లి, ఈడేపిల్లి, &c. పిల్లికన్రతనము (పిల్లికన్ను+రతనము) a precious stone, a cat's eye, వైడూర్యము. పిల్లిగడ్డ pill-gaḍḍa n. A root called Urtica tuberosa. Rox. iii. 583. A series or string of verses or songs. జపమాల a rosary or string of beads. గండమాల scrofula about the neck. వర్ణమాల the alphabet. మాలకరి or మాలాకారుడు māla-kari. n. A garland maker, a flower seller. A gardener, వనపాలకుడు. 'సురపొన్నలమరగట్టి మూడెత్తులుగజేసి మునుమాలకరివోలె.' G. vi. 49. మాలి māli. n. One who has a garland. A gardener. Radha. i. 74. మాలిక mālika. n. (p. 1080) rudurakka , రుదురాక or రుదురాచ్చ ruḍu-rakka. [for Skt. రుద్రాక్ష.] n. The berries of the Elœocarpus, of which rosaries are usually made. మాలాఫలవృక్షముయొక్కవిత్తు. 'సన్నంపురుదురాక సరములు మెడబూని.' Chenn. iv. 206.

(p. 1081) rudruḍu rudruḍu. [Skt.] n. A name of Ṣiva. శివుడు. Also, a name given to certain lesser deities. ఏకాదశరుద్రులు. ఈశానుడు మొదలగువారు. రుద్రజడ or రుద్ర౛డ rudra-jaḍa. [from Skt. రుద్రజట.] n. A plant termed Sweet Basil. Ocymum basilicum. జటావల్లి. రుద్రపాము rudra-pāmu. n. A certain venomous snake. సర్పవిశేషము. రుద్రభూమి rudra-bhūmi. n. A cemetery or place where the dead are burnt or buried. శ్మశానము, ఒలికిమిట్ట. రుద్రవీణె or రుద్రి rudra-vīṇe. n. A sort of lute. వీనావిశేషము. 'నీళ్లగిండియుగాజునిలువుటద్దమురుద్ర వీణెకిన్నెరవట్టి వేళ్లసురటి.' Surabh. 102. రుద్రాణి rudr-āṇi. n. The wife of Rudra, i.e., the name of Durga or Pārvati. పార్వతి, రుద్రునిభార్య. రుద్రాక్షము rudr-ākshamu. n. The tree termed Elœocarpus ganitrus, the seeds of which named రుద్రాక్షలు are much used for rosaries, by the Savities. రుద్రాక్షపిల్లి a hypocrite, lit. a cat with a rosary in her hand.

(p. 1224) vēru vēru. [Tel.] n. A root. మూలము. plu. వేరులు or వేళ్లు. వేరిడి vēr-iḍi. [వేరు+ఇడి.] n. A fool, a mad man. అవివేకి, వెర్రివాడు, వెర్రిస్త్రీ.' వృథాబోధకుండు వేరిడికాడే.' P. i. 729. వేరిడించు vēriḍintsu. v. n. To cause to become foolish, అవివేకమునుపొందజేయు. వేరుపారు or వేరుతన్ను vēru-pāru. v. a. To take root. వేరుపనస vēru-panasa. n.
