(p. 32) aṭṭi aṭṭi. adj. pron. Such, like that అటువంటి Such a man అట్టివాడు అట్టిట్టు n. (lit. that way and this way.) Confusion. అయినమట్టుకు వాడు ఈ ఊరిని అట్టిట్టుచేసి వెళ్లినాడు he ruined this place. అట్టిట్టుగా adv. In a confused state. వానికి ఇప్పుడు అట్టిట్టుగానున్నది he is in a very critical state. అట్టిద it is such or is it such? అటువంటిదే.

(p. 37) aḍugu aḍugu. [Tel.] n. The foot, the footstep, a pace, step, the bottom, basis. A foot in length containing twelve inches. A line of verse. Thus four 'feet' make one stanza, or quatrain. చెట్టు అడుగు the foot of a tree. అడుగురాయి a stone at the bottom కొండ అడుగుననుండే ఊరు a village at the foot of a mountain. ఆ కథను అడుగునుంచి చెప్పు tell the story from the beginning. కుండ అడుగు the bottom of a pot. అడుగంటకోయు to cut off by the root. అడుగుతో పెళ్లగించు to eradicate, to root out. అడుగారిపోవు to be utterly ruined. నా మాటకు అడుగుదాటకు do not transgress my command. వాని అడుగుల జాడ పట్టుకొని పోయినారు they traced his footsteps and followed him. అడుగడుగున or అడుగడుగునకు step by step, now and then, often. అన్నము అడుగంటినది the rice has burnt at the bottom of the pot.

(p. 39) aṇagu aṇagu. [Tel.] v. n. To be suppressed, humbled, abated, quelled or calmed. To be ruined; to be concealed. మట్టుపడు, శాంతించు, నశించు, దాగు అణగగొట్టు aṇga-goṭṭu. [Tel.] v. a. To beat down, suppress, crush. Subdue, keep under, control. కుంగగొట్టు, క్షీణింపచేయు. అణచు or అణుచు aṇaṭsu. [Tel.] v. a. To depress, humble, abate, quench. To ruin, destroy. క్రిందికి అదుము, శాంతిపొందించు, నశింపచేయు.

(p. 47) adhōgati adhō-gati. [Skt.] n. A low state. Perdition, utter destruction. తక్కువస్థితి, నాశనము. అధోగతుడు a ruined man. తక్కువస్థితిని పొందినవాడు.

(p. 81) aru aru. [Tel.] v. n. To be lost, be ruined or destroyed, be broken. తగ్గు నశించు, ఛేడమగు, తెగు, లేకపోవు. 'శ్రమమ్మర.' R. iii. 41. 'అరన్ బాలుండెక్కడ బండియెక్కడ నభోభాగంబు పైబెంపరన్ కాలందన్నుట యెక్క డాపడుచుల్.' BD. vii. 11.

(p. 118) āmūlamu ā-mūlamu. [Skt.] adv. Radically, to the root. ఆమూలము adj. Entire, root and branch. ఆమూలాగ్రముగా (lit. from the root to the top.) Through and through, completely. ఆమూలాగ్రముగా పని చెడినది it is ruined root and branch.

(p. 135) iḍiyu or ఇడిసిపోవు iḍiyu. [Tel. విడు.] v. n. Split, crack, fall to pieces. చీలు, బద్దలగు. To fall in, as a well. ఇడిసినబావి a ruined well. ఇడియగొట్టు. iḍiya-goṭṭu. To demolish.

(p. 156) utsannamu ut-sannamu. [Skt.] adj. Rooted up, destroyed, decayed, ruined. పెల్లగింపబడిన.

(p. 200) ēru ēru. [Tel. Tamil ఆరు] n. A river. నది. (Genitive ఏటి, plural ఏళ్లు) ఏటికిపోవు to go to the river to answer the calls of nature. ఏట్లో కలిసిపోయినది it is completely ruined or shipwrecked. Lit. it is swept away by the river.

(p. 212) obbiḍi obbiḍi. [Tel.] n. Trimness, propriety, thrashing of corn. adj. Trim or clean, as grain; right and tight. చక్కబెట్టడము, నూర్చడము. Ruin నాశము. పని ఒబ్బిడి అయినది the matter is now finished గరిగరిగానున్నది వడ్లన్ని ఒబ్బిడి యైనవి the paddy is all spoiled or ruined.

(p. 217) ōṭari ōṭari. [Tel.] n. Ruin, defeat, the loser at a game. ఓటరు or ఓటారు ōṭaru. [Tel. from ఓటు and పారు.] v. n. To be ruined or wrecked; ఓటారిన cracked, broken or gone to pieces. బద్దలయిన.

(p. 249) karakkāya karakkāya. [Tel.] n. The fruit of the కరక (q. v.) వాని నోట్లో కరక్కాయపడ్డది he is ruined: వానినోట కరక్కాయ కొట్టినాను I have ruined him.

(p. 269) kāḍu kāḍu. [Tel.] n. A funeral pile; a burying ground, or burning ground, శ్మశానము. కాటికి కాళ్లు చాచుకొనియున్నాడు he has one foot in the grave. A forest, a wilderness అడవి. (infl. కాటి.) Ruin నాశము. కాడుచేయు kāḍu-chēyu. v. t. To ruin, destroy. నాశముచేయు. కాడుపడు or కాడ్పడు kāḍu-paḍu v. n. To be confused కలతపడు. To be ruined. To be lost కసబడకపోవు, నష్టమగు. కాడుపరుచు to ruin.

(p. 315) kompa kompu. [Tel.] n. A house. ఇల్లు (used as a term of contempt or reproach.) వాని కొంపపోయినది he is ruined. నా కొంప తీయనలెననిఉన్నాడు he seeks to ruin me. నా కొంప అమ్మివేస్తాడు he will sell the house over my head.

(p. 317) koṭṭu koṭṭu. [Tel.] v. a. To strike, knock. smite, beat, thrash. To attack (as rats do.) To rob, as highwaymen do. To quash, refute, defeat, dismiss, nonsuit. To strike off (the head) or behead. To strike out or rescind (a word). దారులు కొట్టు to rob (on) the high road. గోడను కాగితముకొట్టు to put (or stick) a paper on the wall. చప్పట్లుకొట్టు to clap the hands. అచ్చుకొట్టు to print. కొర్రుకొట్టు to impale. ఈతకొట్టు to swim. నన్నుముకొట్టు to whitewash. నన్ను దొంగలుకొట్టినారు thieves robbed me. చెంపకొట్టు to give a slap on the cheek. బుడ్డికొట్టు to crack a bottle, i.e, drink liquor. తలకొట్టు to behead, to ruin. పిండికొట్టు to pound flour. డేరాకొట్టు to pitch a tent. ఊడగొట్టు to loosen. చెడగొట్టు to spoil or ruin. తేలగొట్టు to set afloat. దిగగొట్టు to drive in. నలియగొట్టు to bruise. పండ్లు రాలగొట్టు to knock out a man's teeth. పగలగొట్టు a break to pieces. పడగొట్టు to throw down. పోగొట్టు to lose. విరుగగొట్టు to break; సాగగొట్టు to beat out (metal). ఊకొట్టు to hum in assent while listening. బుసకొట్టు to hiss. వాడు చేసిన దౌర్జన్యము వాణ్ని కొట్టినది his wickedness has fallen on his own head. నా నోట్లో మన్ను కొట్టినారు they have cast earth into my mouth, i.e., cheated or ruined me. కొట్టించు koṭṭinṭsu. v. t. To cause to beat.
