(p. 63) apasavyamu apa-savyamu. [Skt.] adj. Contrary, opposite to, on the wrong side ప్రతికూలమైన, దక్షిణమైన, అనగా కుడిదైన, అపసవ్యలిపి letters written the wrong way as in a seal. అపసవ్యము n. Putting the braminical thread the wrong way: that is, on the right shoulder and letting it fall on the left side instead of lying on the left shoulder. జందెమును కుడిభుజము మీద నుంచి యెడమభుజమునకు కిందితట్టుగా వేసుకోవడము.

(p. 82) arupu or అరపు arupu. [Tel.] v. n. To remain or be left, to be saved, to be within one's power. దక్కు. అరపరాని unwiedly, not handy. అరపరానికడి a morsel too big to swallow. వాడు అరపరానికడిగానున్నాడు, అనగా, వాడు గుమ్మడికాయంత ముత్యముగానున్నాడు he is unwieldy.

(p. 94) avanamu avanamu. [Skt.] n. Preservation, protection, rescue. రక్షణము. 'గజప్రాణావమోత్సాహి' one who hastens to save the life of the elephant.

(p. 129) āsavamu āsavamu. [Skt.] n. Toddy, palm wine. కల్లు, సారాయి. (a generic term for all spirituous liquors.)

(p. 131) iñcu inṭsu. [Tel.] v. a. To increase. హెచ్చు. P. i. 198. Dasav. ix. 47. Parij. ii. 6. To wish. కోరు.

(p. 151) ucchvāsitamu uchchhvasitamu. [Skt.] n. Breathing, Dasav. VII. 91. ఉచ్ఛ్వాసము uchchḥvāsamu. n. Breath, a breathing sigh. ఎగఊపిరి. ఉచ్ఛ్వాసనిరోధము uchchhvāsa-nirōdamu. n. A stoppage of the breath from stitch or other bodily pain. ఊపిరికుట్టు.

(p. 155) uttariñcu uttarinṭsu. [Tel.] v. a. To cross or pass over. To amputate: to divide cloth into separate pieces, to refund, repay, restore. ఉత్తారకుడు uttārakuḍu. n. One who helps one to cross. A saviour, a deliverer. దాటించువాడు; రక్షకుడు.

(p. 156) utsavamu ut-savamu. [Skt.] n. A feast, festivity, mernment. నేత్రోత్సవము a feast for the eyes.

(p. 159) uddhariñcu ud-dharinṭsu. [Skt.] v. a. To raise, lift, set up, support, up-hold, re-establish, restore, rescue, deliver, preserve, protect. పైకెత్తు, కాపాడు. వేదములనుద్ధరించు to restore the Vedas. సంసారమునుద్ధరించు to support the family. 'నగరగలిసిన గ్రామము నుద్ధరించినాడు' he saved the village which had been sequestrated.

(p. 159) uddhāraṇamu or ఉద్ధారణ or ఉద్ధారము ud-dhāraṇamu. [Skt.] n. Lifting up. Protection. Sustaining. Rescuing, delivering, releasing, restoring. మతోద్ధారణచేయు to re-establish a religion. ఉద్ధారాంశము a share granted to the man who re-established something that has fallen into decay. పోయినదానిని మళ్లీ సాధించినవానికిచ్చే విశేష భాగము. ఉద్ధారము చేయు to sustain: support. ఉద్ధారకుడు ud-dhārakuḍu. n. He who sustains or nourishes, a saviour, a redeemer రక్షకుడు.

(p. 167) uyyala or ఉయ్యాల or ఉయ్యెల uyyala. [Tel.] n. A swing. ఉయ్యాలతొట్టి, ఉయ్యాల మంచము a cradle, a swinging bed. ఉయ్యాలో జంపాలో (Dasav. ix. 243.) Lullabies. ఉయ్యాల జిట్ల uyyāla-jiṭṭa. The wagtail ఉయ్యాల పులుగు. See. జిట్ట, సారసపక్షి.

(p. 173) ussu ussu. [Tel.] n. Ah! alas! 'ఉస్సను నూర్చుహాయనున్.' P. i. 246. ఉస్సని కూర్చున్నాడు he sighed and sat down. ఉస్సురను ussur-anu. v. n. To sigh. (from ఉస్సు alas! and అను to say; the R being inserted to save elision.) మిక్కిలి విసుకు. ఉస్సురనిపించు ussur-anipinṭsu. (causal of ఉస్సురను.) v. a. To grieve, to make one sigh.

(p. 196) ēca or ఏస ēṭsa. [Tel vulgarly వ్యాస] adj. Wild, rude, vulgar, savage, గ్రామ్యము. Crooked or distorted వక్రము. అక్కడి మాట యిక్కడియేచ, ఇక్కడిమాట అక్కడయేచ our language sounds rude to you, and your's sounds rude to us.
