(p. 497) taṅgēḍu or తంగెడు tangēḍu. [Tel.] n. The Tanner's Cassia. Cassia auriculata. నేలతంగేడు Ground Cassia or Senna, Cassia angustifolia. అడివితంగేడు the wild species used in tanning. పయిడితంగేడు the yellow flowering species, Cassia sophora. See కసింద (Watts). సీమతంగేడు the flower called Peacock's Pride, Cassia Sophera. తంగేటిజున్ను wild honey, a proverbial expression denoting the seeking of grapes from thorns, or milk from a stone (R. i. 127 and iv. 158). తంగేడుగోరింక tangēḍu-gōrinka. n. The Pied Crested Cuckoo, Coccystes jacobimes. (F.B.I.)

(p. 834) prapatti prapatti. [Skt.] n. Seeking or taking refuge గతివేరేలేదని పాదములను పట్టుకొనుట. శరణుచొచ్చుట. ప్రపన్నము prapannamu. adj. Taking refuge with, reaching, arriving at, seeking, adhering to. ప్రపత్తిచేసిన. ప్రపన్నుడు prapannuḍu. n. A votary, one who seeks refuge. శరణాగతుడు.

(p. 959) markaṭamu or మర్కటకము markaṭamu. [Skt.] n. A monkey, కోతి. A spider. సాలె పురుగు. A. i. 45. మర్కట కిశోరన్యాయము, 'like the monkey and its cub,' i.e., the weaker adheres to the stronger by instinct, కోతిపిల్ల కోతిని తానుగా పో యి కరుచుకోవడము. అనగా శిష్యుడుగాపోయి గురువును ఆశ్రయించడము. మర్జాల కిశోరన్యాయము like the cat and kitten, i.e., పిల్లి తన పిల్లను కరుచుకొని తీసుకొని పోవడము, that is, the instinct which leads the stronger to protect or carry the weaker, గురువు తానై అభిమానించి శిష్యునిని ఏలుకోవడము. The latter instance is used to illustrate the free grace of God: and the former is of man seeking divine aid.
