(p. 11) antarāḷakamu anta-rāḷikamu. [Skt.] n. The apartment in a pagoda, next to the shrine. గర్భగృహమునకును ముఖమంటపమునకును నడిమిచోటు.

(p. 29) ajaśṛṅgi aja-ṣringi. [Skt.] n. The shrub called Odina Wodier used as a remedy for sore eyes. జుష్టవుచెట్టు.

(p. 35) aḍavi aḍavi. [Tel. from Skt. అటవి.] n. A forest, wilderness. కాననము. adj. Wild, of the forest, or desert. వవసంబంధమైన. (All wild species of plants or animals are distinguished by prefixing అడవి to their names. e. g., అడవికంద, అడవికాకర, అడవికోడి, అడవిచెరుకు, అడవిపంది, అడవిమామిడి, అడవిమేక, &c.) అడవి అవిసె aḍavi-avise [Tel.] n. A tree, the Bauhinia parviflora. అడవి ఆముదపుచెట్టు aḍaviAmudapu-cheṭṭu. [Tel.] n. A shrub, the Jatropha curcas. కొండాముదపుచెట్టు. అడవి కుక్క aḍavi-kukka. [Tel.] n. The wild dog. అడవి కోడి aḍavi-kōḍi. [Tel.] n. The jungle fowl. అడవిచిక్కుడు aḍavi-chikkuḍu. [Tel.] n. A kind of beans which grow wild. Dolichos tetraspermus. అడవినెల్లికూరచెట్టు aḍavi-nellikūra-cheṭṭu. [Tel.] n. (p. 68) abvābu abvābu. [H.] n. (Lit. Doors, chapters.) Miscellaneous revenue accounts. 'The usual heads in Revenue accounts are Mal and Abwab. The Mal or Regular revenue is collected on land and customs, including taxes on liquors, &c The Abwab, or Miscellaneous includes the difference of exchange (often considerable) between that of the market and the fixed rate at which the revenue of the district is paid, casual aid or support of the Government officers, fees to the shroff, and contributions to various feasts.' (p. 88) alarkamu or అలర్కపత్రము alarkamu. [Skt.] n. A shrub, the three-lobed night-shade. Solanum trilobatum. ముండ్లముపై. ముళ్లయుచ్చిత చెట్టు, తెల్ల జిల్లేడు.

(p. 90) alli alli. [Tel.] n. The water plant called Nymphœa alba. అల్లికాడ is peduncle or flower stalk. అల్లిపువ్వు the flower of this water plant. ఉత్పలభేదము. ఆకాశపు అల్లి Menyanthes cristata, a water plant. అల్లి Nymphœa Lotus, a variety with a red flower. Rox. ii. 260, says. 'అల్లి is Memecylon Edule: a wild shrub, like broom, with beautiful fragrant flowers in bunches.' దాని ఒళ్లు అల్లికాడవలెనున్నది her body is like the stem of a water lily, she is very chilly. అల్లిరాగులు the fruit of the blue lotus.

(p. 91) alliceṭṭu alli-cheṭṭu. [Tel.] n. A kind of wild shrub, with beautiful and fragrant lilac flowers in bunches. ఒక అడవిచెట్టు అల్లికర్ర the wood of this plant. అల్లి బియ్యము the seed of this plant.

(p. 108) ākuñcanamu ā-kunchanamu. [Skt.] n. Contracting, drawing up, shrinking. Elasticity. ముడుచుట.

(p. 109) āgubbatillu or అగుబ్బుకొను āgubbatillu. [Tel.] n. To increase. అతిశయించు, వృద్ధిపొందు to be overjoyed. Swa. ii. See. తుబ్బతిల్లు. ఆగుబ్బు āgubbu. [Tel.] n. Greatness, vastness. ఆగుబ్బాగుబ్బైనకూత with a waxing and still swelling shriek. ఆగుబ్బుగా āgubbu-gā adv. All at once, heavily, in a thick shower, bitterly (weeping) భోరున.

(p. 112) āḍu āḍu. [Tel.] adj. Female. ఇవి ఆడుమాటలు these are a woman's words. ఆడుచందము āḍuṭsandamu. The female shape, feminine disguise. B. viii. 445. ఆడుమొర A woman's shriek. R. v. 207. ఆడుతోడు āḍu-tōḍu. [Tel.] A female companion. ఆడుది āḍudi. A woman. ఆడుబిడ్డ āḍu-biḍḍa. A little girl. The sister of a woman's husband. ఆడుముండ āḍu-muṇḍa. An abusive word for a woman: equivalent to slut, jade, wretch. ఆడువీడు woman's town, a place without brave men. See ఆడ adj.

(p. 143) īcu īṭsu. [Tel.] v. n. To shrivel, wither, dry up. ఈచ īṭsa. adj. Lank, withered, misshapen. ఈచపడు or ఈచపోవు īṭsa-paḍu. To fall away, become lean. ఈచుక పోయిన lean, withered, flabby. శుష్కించిపోయిన.

(p. 147) īsapōvu , ఈసరపోవు īsa-pōvu. [Tel.] v. n. To pine, shrink. శుష్కించు. ఈసరపోనీక without omitting anything. రవంతైనా విడువక. 'వనితల నూరార్చి వారాలచ్చటికిన్ జనిమరలి వచ్చిన విధంబీసర పోనీక పూస గుచ్చిన తెరంగున నెరింగి.' HK. ii. 185.
