(p. 121) āritīru āri-tīru. [Tel.] v. n. To be perfect, qualified, complete, accomplished or well versed in. ఆరితీరినవాడు he who is well versed or thoroughly practised. ఆరితీరి కూర్చున్నప్పుడు when he was sitting at his ease.

(p. 129) āsanamu ā-sanamu. [Skt.] n. A seat: a posture or mode of sitting and kneeling, as పద్మాసనము.

(p. 163) upaviṣṭamu upa-vishṭamu. [Skt.] adj. Seated, sitting. సుఖోపనిష్టులై seated at their ease.

(p. 290) kukku or క్రక్కు kukku. [Tel.] v. a. To stuff, to cram; to crush to squeeze (Ice, &c.) ఇప్పుడు కుక్కిన పేనులాగున్నది she is sitting like a crushed louse. ఆ సందులో గుడ్డను కుక్కినాడు he stuffed the cloth into the aperture. వాణ్ని చావకుక్కినారు they beat him to death.

(p. 305) kūlu kūlu. [Tel.] v. n. To fall. పడు. To die చచ్చు. కూలనూకు kūla-nūku. v. a. To knock down. కూలబడు kūla-baḍu. v. n. To fall, to fall down suddenly (a comic word for sitting down.) కూలవేయు kūla-vēyu. v. a. To make one fall, to make one sit down suddenly. కూలుచు or కూల్చు kūluṭsu. v. t. To knock down kill, overthrow, ruin.

(p. 379) gummaḍi gummaḍi. [Tel.] n. A gourd, a pumpkin, Cucurbita maxima. గుమ్మడితీగె or గుమ్మడిచెట్టు a gourd vine. గుమ్మడిపువ్వు a gourd flower. గుమ్మడి పండువంటిదేహము a form delicate and fragile as a gourd. పెండ్లి గుమ్మడికాయ or బూడిదగుమ్మడికాయ the white gourd, Benincasa cerifera (Watts.) The expression గుమ్మడిపండు is also a tuck or fold in the front of woman's petticoat. గుమ్మడికాయచెంబు brass pot of a particular shape. గుమ్మడికాయలాగున కూర్చున్నాడు he was sitting at his ease.

In Tantrica books it means a part or region of the body. పద్మనాభుడు padma-nānābhuḍu. n. Vishṇu, from whose navel (నాభి) sprung the lotus containing Brahma when he was sent to create the world. పద్మబాంధవుడు padma-bāndhavuḍu. n. The Sun. పద్మరాగము pādma-rāgamu. n. The chrysolite or ruby of the finest class: a gem of a pink colour called మొక్కళి, ఉదయసూర్యకాంతిగలకెంపు. పద్మవెలమలు or పద్మనాయకులు padma-velamalu. n. Plu. The name of a certain Sudra caste. See వెలమ. పద్మవ్యూహము or పద్మము padma-vyūhamu. n. A certain kind of military evolution. పద్మసాలెవాండ్లు padma-sāle-vāndlu. n. A certain caste of weavers. పద్మాకరము padm-ākaramu. n. A place of lilies a pond in which the lotus grows. A tank, కొలను, చెరువు. పద్మాలయ or పద్మావతి padm-ālaga. n. The goddess Lakshmi, so named because her dwelling (ఆలయము) is in the lily (పద్మము.) పద్మాసనము padm-āsanamu. n. A sitting posture used in religious meditation in which the Bauddha statues are represented; so called because Vishṇu is represented in that posture when throned on a lotus. పద్మి padmi. n. An elephant. పద్మిని padmini. n. A lovely woman, like a Penclope, or an Eve. The Hindu poets divide all beautiful women into four classes called (1) హస్తిని, (2) శంఖిని, (3) చిత్రిణి and (4) పద్మిని; which answer to Juno, Flora, Venus and Minerva, respectively: See Addison's Spectator No. 209. పద్మిని n. A bed of lilies. పద్మినీవల్లభుడు the Sun, as being the lover (వల్లభ) of the lotus.

(p. 708) pani pani. [Tel.] n. Work, a task. కర్మము. Business, employment, వ్యాపారము. Workmenship, శిల్పము. ఈ కట్టడమునందు మంచిపని చేసియున్నారు there is good workmanship in this building. An affair, act, matter. Service, utility, purpose, object, intention, design. ప్రయోజనము. An order, duty, నియోగము. పనిమీద ఉన్నాడు he is busy. మంచిపని very well, well, good. మంచిపనిచేసినావు you did well or right. అతని పనిచూస్తున్నాను I am engaged in his service: I am acting for him. అతనిపని తీర్చినారు they settled his business, or they killed him. ఇక్కడ నీకేమిపని what business have you here? This word is sometimes omitted in translating; as in నీపనిపట్టిస్తాను I will punish you. ఇంతపనికి నన్నేల వెంటబెట్టుకొనివచ్చినావు why have you brought me for such a trifle or pretence? పనికిమాలి (or) పనిచెడి కూర్చున్నాడు he is sitting idle. వారు వ్యాధిచేత పనిచెడిరి they became infirm through illness. వానితో విరోధము పనికిరాదు he will not stand quarrelling. దాన్ని సంపాదించడము ఎంతపని it is no great matter to get it. నాపని చెరిపినారు they spoiled my work. పనిచెరువుకథలు idle stories. పనికి వచ్చే useful. పనికివచ్చే పిల్లకాయ a promising boy. పనికిరాని or పనికిమాలి useless. అక్కడికి నీవు ఏపనిమీద పోయినావు useless. అక్కడికి నీవు ఏపనిమీద పోయినావు about what business did you go there? నీపనిని నీవు చూచుకొనుము mind your own business. అక్కడికి పోవలసినపనిలేదు there is no need of going there. ఇప్పట్లో వానిపని యిట్లు ఉన్నది he is now in this state. అట్లు చెప్ప పని లేదు there is no need of saying so. పనిగొను pani-gonu. v. a. To undertake a work, to engage in a business. పూనుకొను. To employ, నియోగించు. 'పనిగొనవుతెలియగ బరికించి చూచిన.' Vēma. పనితనము pani-ta-namu. n. Workmanship, elegance. పనితనముగల ఒక మంచము a handsome bed. పనితొడవులు pani-toḍarulu. n. Worked or embossed jewels. పనిపడు or పనివడు pani-paḍu. v. n. To busy oneself with. to engage in, పూనుకొను. To concern oneself with, అక్కరపడు. పనివడి or పనిపడి pani-paḍi. adv. Intentionally. కావలెనని, ప్రయత్నపూర్వకముగా. 'పరులను పనిపడి దూషించెనేని పాపము వచ్చున్.' V. P. iv. 249. పనివాటులు jobs, work. పనిముట్టు or పనిమటము pani-muṭṭu. n. An instrument, tool, impelement. కొరముట్టు, ఉపకరణము. 'పనిమటములుగొంచు పయనమైరండు.' Pal. 314. పనివంచు, పని పంచు or పనిగొను pani-vanṭsu. v. a. To command. నియోగించు. పనివాడు pani-vāḍu. n. A servant: a good workman. పనివిను pani-vinu. v. n. To obtain permission, to take leave. To proceed, to go or come. 'దేవర కీర్తి వెక్కసంబుగ జెప్పవిని చూడగోరి, పనివిని నేను మాభాగ్యంబుకతన.' H.D.i. 847.

The disease called spleen. గుల్మము. వారు బల్లమీద కూర్చుండిరి they were sitting on a bench. రెండుబల్లలను ౛తచేయుము join the two planks together. అతనికడుపులో బల్లకట్టుకొన్నది or బల్లపెరిగినది he has a enlargement of the spleen. నీరుబల్ల the dropsy బల్లకట్టు balla-kaṭṭu. n. A large flat bottomed boat, a raft. వెడలుపైన అడుగుగల పడవ. బల్లకూర్పు balla-kūrpu. n. Wainscotting, planking, joiner's work. బల్లకూర్పుటిల్లు a house built of boards. బల్లకోల balla-kōla. n. A sort of spear of harpoon. పంట్రకోల. 'భ్రమితేంద్రియములను బలునిర్రె నేసి, భాషాప్రణీతమన్బలుబల్లకోల, నీషణత్రయమను నెలుగుకన్నొడిచి.' BD. v. 1443. బల్లగోలలవారు balla-gōlala-vāru. n. Lancers. 'వరుసనుబహుపుష్ఫ వాటికల్ నాటి, జాలవారిని దివ్వటీలను బల్లగోలలవారిని గుడిపూజరులను.' BD. iii. 1016.

(p. 881) bāsikamu bāsikamu. [Tel.] n. A nuptial crown worn on the forehead of the bride and bridegroom. A. i. 66. బాసికదండ a garland worn on the forehead. బాసికపట్టు bāsika-paṭṭu. n. A sitting posture in which the legs are placed over each other, పద్మాసనము.

(p. 1017) mūla mūla. [Tel.] n. A corner,విదిక్కు. An angle. కోణము. A retreat. గొంది. A braid, or tress. కొప్పు, కేశబంధము. An airt or point of the compass, దిక్కు. మూల యిల్లు a corner house. మూలవేయు mūla-vēyu. v. a. To lay aside, put by, throw aside, neglect. ఇది యేమూలకు వచ్చును this will not suffice at all, ఎంతమాత్రము చాలదు. మారు మూలను in a bye place. మూలనుండేవాణ్ని యేల ముంగిటికి యీడుస్తావు why draw a man out of his corner into the centre of the court, i.e., why pick a quarrel with a quiet man who is sitting still. మూల or మూలానక్షత్రము [Skt.] n. The nineteenth of the lunar mansions. మూలమట్టము or మూలమట్టపుపలక mla-maṭṭamu. [Tel.] n. A carpenter's square వడ్లవాని ఆయుధము, గోడలమూలలందు సరిచూచు మట్టపలక. మూలమాను mūla-mānu. n.
