(p. 174) ūḍucu ūḍuṭsu. [Tel.] v. a. To sweep. To slacken, loosen, divest, open, sever, separate. ఊడజేయు To wrest, take by force. To transplant. నారునాటు. To root out, to eradicate. ఉడుపు చేయించిన పొలము a field in which rice plants have been set (by transplanting.) తలలూడ్చె he smote off their heads. R. v. 275. ఊడుపు ūḍupu. n. Sweeping: ఊడ్చడము. transplanting. నారు నాటుట. ఊడుపుపొలము land in which shoots are transplanted.

(p. 290) kukki kukki. [Tel.] n. A poor bed. మంచపు కుక్కి, చిన్న మంచము adj. Deep. లోతైన. కుక్కిపడు to become loose పల్లమగు. కుక్కిపడ్డ loose, slack. కుక్కిపడ్డమంచము a rickety bed.

(p. 661) nilcu or నిలుచు niluṭsu. [Tel.] v. n. To stand. To remain, exist, last, live. continue. To stay, stop, halt. నిలిచిపోవు. To be still or quiet, as a fluid in a vessel. To be firm or steadfast. To bear, be patient, restrain one's feelings. To be repressed, allayed, slackened. వాని మాట నిలిచినది he kept his word. నిలిచికురియదు it does not rain steadily. ఆ బడి నిలిచిపోయినది the school is now closed. పని నిలిచిపోయినది the work has stopped. M. XII. v. 459. నిలుపాటి or నిలువుపాటి long, పొడుగైన. నిలువబెట్టు to set up , erect. నిలువతీయు to set one on his legs. నిలుచుండు or నిల్చుండు niluṭs-unḍu. (నిలిచి+ఉండు.) v. n. To remain standing, to continue to stand. నిలుచుండు. నిలుడుకొ Same as నిలుచుండు. నిల used for నిలువ. నిలబడు, నిలువబడు or నిల్వబడు nila-baḍu. v. n. To stand. నిలుచుండు. To be stopped. అడ్డుపడు. To be set up, ప్రతిష్ఠతమగు. నిలక, నిలకడ, నిలుకడ or నిల్కడ nilaka. n. Standing; steadiness, constancy, firmness. స్థైర్యము. ఈ యేరు నిలక యివ్వదు I cannot keep my footing in the current. కాలు నిలకడచేసికొను to gain a firm footing నిలకడయిన ఉద్యోగము permanent (not acting) employement. నిలుకడగానుండే firm. నిలితము nilitamu. n. Delay: endurance, (Vizag.) నిలువెడుఎత్తు or నిలువుఎత్తు niluveḍu-y-ettu. n. A fathom high, lit: one man's stature. నిలుపు nitupu. v. a. To cause to stand, నిలువబెట్టు. To fix, to set up, to place, to erect, ప్రతిష్ఠించు. To stay, restrain, interrupt, repress, అడ్డగించు. To support, maintain, keep firm, establish, స్థిరపడు. To retain, keep back, reserve, నిలిపిఉంచు. Standing, a halt, &c. నిలుచుట, ఉండుట. అది నిలుపుగానున్నది it is suspended or in abeyance. నిలుపుచేసినారు they stopped the work, &c. detained (me) &c. నిలుపు or నిల్పు nilupu. adj. That which stops. నిలుపునది. Firm, స్థిరమైన. నిలుపోవు nilup-ōpu. (నిలుపు+ఓపు.) v. n. To endure, to bear, to put up with, ఓర్చు. సహించు. నిలుపుదల nilupu-dala. n. Stopping. suspension. నిలువ or నిల్వ niluva. n. A remainder, something that is left over, శేషము, నిలిచియున్న వస్తువు. నిలువరి niluv-ari. adj. Steadfast. n. A steady man. నిలువు niluvu. n. Standing. నిలుచుట. Stature, height, ఎత్తు. A fathom or a man's height, మనిషి ఎత్తు. Form, shape, figure, ఆకృతి. A storey, మీది అంతస్తు. The standing crop. మూడు నిలుపుల నీళ్లు water three fathoms deep. వాని నిలువెల్లా విషము he is a villain from head to foot. నానిలువెల్లదోచుకొన్నారు they fleeced me or stripped me. వానికి నిలువుగుడ్లు పడినవి his eyes are set, he is dying. నిలువాటి, i.e., నిలువుపాటి standing, erected. నిలువు adj. Upright, standing, High, tall. నిలువుచెంబు a cup with upright sides, a mug. నిలువుఅంచనా reckoning upon the standing crop. నిలువుటద్దము niluvu-ṭ-addamu. n. A pier glass, a full length mirror. నిలువుకొలువు or నిలువుజీతము service in which one has to stand up always and is not allowed to sit. నిలుచుండిచేయు సేవ. నిలువుకాళ్లు stilts. నిలవరము, నిలువరము or నిల్వరము nilava-ramu. n. Firmness, steadfastness. The truth, certainity. A deposit, money lodged. adj. True, certain, fixed, firm, stable, sure, స్థిరమైన. నిలవరించు, నిలువరించు or నిల్వరించు nilavarinṭsu. v. n. To stand firmly. చలింపకనిలుచు. v. a. To cause to stand firmly. చలింపకనిలువు. To stop, to cause to halt; to support, to manage, to sustain.

(p. 747) pālumālu, pālmālu prālumālu or ప్రాల్మాలు pālu-mālu. [Tel. from పాలు a share, మాలు to be without, to go without.] v. n. To fail, neglect, slacken in exertion. To be listless or reluctant, బద్దకించు. To be unwell, out of sorts. To procrastinate or put off for the present.

(p. 848) pridulu pridulu. [Tel.] v. n. To break, విరుగు. To decrease, తగ్గు. To become loose, to grow slack. సడలు, వదులగు, To fall off, as a veil. ౛ారు. (p. 943) maṭṭi maṭṭi. [Tel.] n. Earth, soil, mud Scurf or dandruff. మట్టితిన్నపామువలె పడియున్నాడు he is as stupid as a snake gorged with mud. మట్టిగుర్రమున నమ్మి యేటిలోదిగుట to rely on a mud horse and go into a river, i.e., to trust to appearances. మట్టితైలము or మట్టినూనె maṭṭi-tadama. n. Earth oil kerosene or petroleum. మట్టాడు maṭṭ-āḍu. (మట్టి + ఆడు.) v. n. & a. To walk. నడచు. To wander, roam, సంచరించు. To spread, వ్యాపించు. To cut to pieces, తనుమాడు.' అత్తూపుగములు తుత్తమురుదొట్టి మట్టాడి అట్టహాసంబుచేసి.' R. v. 191. మట్టియ Same as మట్టి and మట్టె (q. v.) మట్టు maṭṭu. v. a. To tread or trample, to crush. తొక్కు. n. Trampling, walking over. త్రొక్కుడు. Limit, bounds, measure, restriction, extent; moderation. పర్యంతము. ప్రమాణము. మితి, కొలత, తగ్గుదల. A settle or ring of cord, fibre, &c. to prevent a pot from rolling over, కుదురు. A place, ప్రదేశము. పైమట్టు the upper place or part. అడుగుమట్టు the bottom. ఆ బల్లమట్టుపట్టి తీసుకొనిరా measure the plank కావడిమట్టు the frame or bottom of the slings in a Kāvadi. వానికి తెలివిమట్టు he is wanting in sense. వానితో చెప్పినది నాబుద్ధే మట్టు I was a fool to tell him this. ఈ సంవత్సరము జనముమట్టు this year the assembly is but small. వానికి పుణ్యగతులుమట్టు he has no chance of heaven. మట్టుబీర a kind of బీరకాయ (q. v.) మట్టుగిన్నె a cup with a foot or base attached to it. adj. Limited, small. మితము, తక్కువ. మట్టుకు as far as, up to as much as, in regard to, until, as long as. దీనికి ఒకమట్టుమితములేదు there is no end or limit to it. మట్టుమర్యాదలేనివాడు he who has neither modesty nor moderation. మట్టుమీరవద్దు you must not go beyond bounds. అతడు వచ్చువరకు అని దీనికి ఒకమట్టుపెట్టిరి they laid it aside until his arrival, మనసుచెదరనీక మట్టుపెట్టి.' (Vēma. ii. 278.) curbing and restraining the mind. ఈ మట్టున లేచిపోయిరి with this they went away or thereupon they went away. పోడుగుపడి అంతమట్టున వాన నిలిచినది there was a thunderbolt and then the rain ceased. వానికి అంతమట్టుకు తెలియదు he does not know so much. ఎంతమట్టుకు పోయినావు how far did you go? గొంతుమట్టుకు నీళ్లువస్తున్నవి the water is up to the neck. వాడు ఎంతమట్టుకుంటే అంతమట్టుకు సంతోషిస్తాడు he contents himself with as much as he gets. నా ప్రాణములు ఉన్న మట్టుకు as long as I have life. నామట్టుకు నేను ఉంటాను నీమట్టుకు నీవు ఉండు I shall keep to myself, you keep to yourself. బియ్యము కావలసిన మట్టుకు చిక్కును you can get as much rice as you want. సొమ్ములుమట్టుకు నాకు వద్దు as for the jewels I do not want them. అంతమట్టుకు మంచిపని చేస్తిని so far you did well. ఇంతమట్టుకు వచ్చిన తరువాత ఇకనేమి దాక్షిణ్యము when the matter has come to such a push what is the use of delicacy? వానికి తిండిమట్టుకు బాగా కావలెను he cares for nothing but his dinner. నేనుమట్టుకు పోతిని I alone went. వాని ఒళ్లు శానామట్టుకు నాసిగానున్నది his health is in a great measure recovered. మట్టుఅగు. మట్టుకొను or మట్టుపడు maṭṭu-agu. v. n. To lessen or be diminished. తగ్గు, అడగు. కుదురుపడు. రోగము మట్టుపడినది the disease is moderating. వానికి దాహము మట్టుపడినది his thirst was slackened. మట్టుగా maṭṭu-gā. adv. Moderately, మితముగా. వర్షము మట్టుగానున్నప్పుడు when the rain is moderate. దగ్గు మట్టుగానున్నది the cough is now moderate. మట్టుగా తిన్నాడు he ate moderately. మట్టు చేయు or మట్టుపరచు maṭṭu-chēyu. v. a. To lessen, moderate, diminish. తగ్గించు. వానికి జీతము మట్టుచేసినారు they diminished his pay, వానికి జీతము మట్టుచేసినారు they diminished his pay, వానికి జీతము తగ్గించినారు. మట్టుపెట్టు maṭṭu-peṭṭu. v. a. To keep down, suppress, అడచు. To kill, చంపు. మట్టుమిగులు or మట్టుమీరు maṭṭu-migulu. v. n. To exceed the limits, అతిక్రమించు.

(p. 1096) laghima or లఘిమము laghima. [Skt.] n. Ethereality, volatility, subtility, buoyancy. Excessive lightness; absence of weight, especially as an attribute of supernatural power. చులకదనము, లఘుత్వము. లఘిష్ఠము laghishṭhamu. adj. Lightest, very light, very small, least, మిక్కిలి చులకనైన, మిక్కిలి తక్కువైన. లఘుత్వము laghutvamu. n. Lightness, triviality. మలకదనము. లఘుబ్రహ్మి laghu-brahmi n. A plant called Trigonella corniculata లఘులయము laghu-layamu. n. The root of a fragrant grass, usually called Cuss-cuss, Andropogon muricatum, తెల్లవట్టివేరు. లఘువు laghuvu. adj. Swift, quick, వడిగల. Light, not heavy; slight, trivial, trifling. Convalescent, better in health. Abating, moderating, as applied to disease, చులకని. తేలికైన, శాంతమైన.n. An abatement, lessening, slackening. A short syllable. A leap, darting. Quick time in music. శాంతము, గురువుకానిది, గంతు, వేగము. తాళములో భేదము. లఘువుగా laghuvu-gā. adv. Lightly. In good health. Gently, well, softly, slowly. తిన్నగా, స్వస్థముగా, లఘశంకకుపోవు laghu-ṣankaku-pōvu. v. n. To pass urine. ఉచ్చపోయు.

(p. 1127) vadalu or వదులు vadaḷu. [Tel.] v. n. To be loosened, to be slackened or untied; to cease, depart, disappear. సడలు, ఊడు, వీడు. జ్వరము వదలిపోయినది the fever went off. నా గ్రహచారము వదిలే కాలమువచ్చినది the time has arrived for my ill-luck to come to an end. ఆ కర్మము వదిలిపోయినది that trouble is now over. v. a. To loosen, let go, quit, renounce, abjure, give up, abstain from. విడిచిపెట్టు, విడుచు, మానుకొను. The act of leaving, విడుపు. వదలించు, వదిలించు or వదల్చు vadalinṭsu. v. a. To loosen, slacken, release, get rid of. విడిపించు, సళ్లించు, పోగొట్టు, వారి గర్వమును వదిలించినాడు he crushed their pride. వదలివేయు or వదలుకొను vadali-vēyu. v. a. To abandon or leave, to desist from, get rid of, abstain from, మానుకొను, త్యజించు.

(p. 1172) viḍucu or విడ్చు viḍuṭsu. [Tel.] v. n. &a. To relinquish, leave, quit, abandon, give up, loosen, slacken, untie, undo, To cease, to terminate. చాలించుకొను, మానుకొను, వదలుకొను. ఆ చెట్టు నాలుగు కొమ్మలు విడిచినది that tree has produced four branches. వానవిడిచెను the rain is over. గ్రహణము విడిచినది the eclipse is now over. చీడవిడిచినది the plague has ceased. అంటువిడిచినది the impurity has passed away. దయ్యమువిడిచినది the demon has quitted him or let him go. క్రోధమునువిడిచినాడు he has laid aside his wrath. చేనిలో ఆవును మేయవిడిచినాడు he let the cow go to graze on the crop. ఆహారమునువిడిచెను he gave up eating. ప్రాణమునువిడిచెను he gave up eating. ప్రాణమునువిడిచెను he gave up the ghost. ఆమె కన్నీళ్లువిడిచెను she shed tears. బాణమువిడుచు to discharge a rocket. ఆ కోటును విడిచిపోయిరి they quitted the fort. తర్పణమువిడుచు to perform a certaian rite. పట్టినపట్టు విడువడు he will never let go his hold.కుమార్తెను అత్తవారియింట విడిచినాడు he left his daughter at the house of her mother-in-law. దినమువిడిచి దినము on alternate days, every other day. బట్టలువిడుచు to strip. ఊపిరివిడుచు to breathe. వారిని చెయ్యి విడిచినాడు he abandoned them. 'కొంగుకాసువిడిచిగొబ్బుననీరాదు.' Vema. 171. విడిచిపెట్టు viḍichi-peṭṭu. v. a. To relinquish, leave, quit, abandon, give up. To loosen, untie, undo, చాలించుకొను, వదలు. విడిపించు viḍipinṭsu. v. a. To loose, let go, release. విడిచిపెట్టు, వదలు, పోనిచ్చు. విడిపించుకొను viḍipinṭsu-konu. v. n. To escape, get free, break loose, విడివడు, వదలించుకొను. విడుత viḍuta. n. A time, తడవ. ఒకవిడుత once. రెండువిడుతలు twice. విడుదల, విడుపు, విడ్పు or విడుమర viḍu-dala. n. Release, liberation, setting at liberty, freeing, కడతేరడము, నివృత్తి, విమోచనము. విడుదలసన్నదు a deed of surrender or relinquishment. విడుపు also means Almsgiving, దానము. విడుపరి viḍup-ari. n. One who abandons a friend, &c. పరిత్యాగశీలుడు. A liberal man, త్యాగశీలుడు. విడువడు viḍu-vaḍu. (విడుపు+పడు.) v. n. To separate, to be severed. వీడియెడబాయు.

(p. 1185) viriyu viriyu. [Tel.] v. n. To blow, open or expand, as a flower, వికసించు. To burst, crack or open. To be loosed or dishevelled, as hair. To break or disperse, as an army. వీడిపోవు, పగులు, చెదరు. To move away from, to be removed, తొలగు. To rejoice, ఉప్పొంగు. నీళ్లుచల్లగానే సున్నపు రాళ్లు విరిసినవి on being sprinkled with water, the burning limestones cracked. 'విరిసిదూలెడు పల్లవెండ్రుకలు.' B. X. 22. 'ఇట్లువిరిసినసేనల్.' M. VII. ii. 40. 'కడుపువిరియంగదిని పండ్లుకుడుములెల్ల.' S. iii. 216. మబ్బువిరిసిపోయినది the cloud is dispelled. విక్కవిరియు vikka-viriyu (విరియు+విరియు.) v. n. To blow or blossom well, as a flower, మిక్కిలి వికసించు. విరియబడు Same as విరియు. విరియబారు viriya-bāru. (విరియన్+పారు) v. n. To blow, or expand, as a flower, వికసించు. To burst or crack, వీడు, పగులు. To expand, extend, వ్యాపించు. విరియబోయు viriya-bōyu. v. a. To hang loose, as hair, తలవెండ్రుకలను వ్రేలాడవిడుచు. To slack lime, సున్నపురాళ్ల మీద నీళ్లుచల్లివిచ్చునట్లుచేయు. తలవిరియబోసికొను to wear one's hair dishevelled. విరియించు viriyinṭsu. v. a. To open a flower, to make it bloom. To break. వికసింపజేయు, విరుచు. 'ఇలసుమనోగుణంబు విరియించెదు ప్రాణమటంచునెంచుమ, మ్మలయగజేసె దౌరమలయానిల.' T. iv. 113.

(p. 1289) saḍalu or సళ్లు saḍalu. [from Skt. శ్లధ.] v. n. To become slack or loose, to fall off. వదలు, వీడిపోవు, ఊడు, ౛ారు. n. Loosening, falling, ఊడుట, ౛ారుట, వదలుట. సడలుపడు Same as సడలు. సడలించు, సడలుచు, సడల్చు, సడలజేయు or సళ్లించు saḍalinṭsu. v. a. To untie, unloose, take off. వదలించు, విచ్చు, తీసివేయు.

(p. 1313) saḷlu or సడలు saḷḷu. [Tel.] v. n. To become slack or loose. వదలు, ౛ారు. వాని ఒళ్లునిండా సళ్లిపోయినది his constitution is much broken down. నడుముసళ్లు to be gone in the loins. 'శబరకాంతల గుట్టుసళ్ల బెట్టు.' Swa. iv. 115. n. Looseness, slackness, వదులు. సళ్లించు saḷḷinṭsu. (for సడలించు.) v. a. To loosen, slacken. వదలు చేయు. A. v. 161. See సడలు.
