(p. 5) aṅgarāgamu anga-rāgamu. [Skt.] n. Smearing the body. Anointing. A cosmetic. చందనాది లేపనము. 'పొలుపు లేని యంగరాగంబుతో.' ఉ. రా మా. 4. 297.

(p. 27) agrahāramu agra-hāramu. [Skt.] n. A street or village inhabited by brahmins. A village of which the old and hereditary cultivators are brahmins. A village granted to brahmins by government for charitable or religious purposes; either rent free, or at a favourable assessment. The conditions on which these villages are held are specified thus, సర్వాగ్రహారము a village free from all tax. శ్రోత్రియాగ్రహారము a village granted at a certain fixed assessment. జోడి అగ్రహారము, or బిల్మకా అగ్రగారము or, కట్టుబడి అగ్రహారము a village granted at a rent which fluctuates with the produce. అగ్రహారికుడు a brahmin belonging to such a village. అగ్రహారమనుభవించేవాడు he who enjoys a village free from tax.

(p. 65) appaḷiñcu appaḷinṭsu. [Tel.] v. a. To tap, touch, slap, strike gently with the open hand. To embrace, To smear, apply. తట్టు, చరచు, అంటు, యెత్తు, అలింగనము చేసికోను, చరుము. (p. 88) alayiñcu alayinṭsu.[Tel.] v. a. To trouble, harass, weary, fatigue. శ్రమపెట్టు, బడలించు. 'అందరికి నన్నిరూపులై యతులగతుల రతులవలయించె.' N. ix. 422. 'సీతనలయించి వచ్చి నాచేత బొలిసి మాయలేడన్ని శాచరు మరుగుసొచ్చి.' R. vi. 30. అలయిక, అలత, అలపు alayika. [Tel.] n. Fatigue, harassment, weariness. బడలిక, గాసి.

(p. 89) aluku aluku. [Tel.] v. a. To smear the floor of a house or a mud wall, &c., with cowdung, &c. పేడవేసి శుద్ధిచేయు. (అలుకుచుట్టు a besom dipped in cowdung and water used in smearing a floor.) Also, to sow seed in a field prepared for the purpose (Vizag.) అలికించు alikinṭsu. (causal of అలుకు.) To have the floor smeared with cowdung, &c.

(p. 110) āghrāṇamu ā-ghrāṇamu. [Skt.] n. Smelling. The sense of smell. ఆఘ్రూణించు ā-ghrāṇinṭsu. v. a. To smell. వాసన చూచు, ముక్కుతో పీల్చు.

(p. 117) ābhīruḍu ā-bhiruḍu. [Skt.] n. A herdsman. ఆభీరపల్లి ābhīra-palli. n. A hamlet, a village of herdsmen. ఆభీరి ābhīri. n. A woman of the herdsmen's caste.

(p. 187) ettubhāramu ettu-bhāramu. [Tel.] n. Plague, harassment, responsibility, business. Ruin. పాడు.

(p. 198) ēdu or ఏదువంది ēdu. [Tel.] n. A procupine. ముండ్లపంది. One species is called కోడియేదు but in the south it is called ఒంటరికాడు. HD. i. 512. ఏదుపెరికినట్లు or ఏదుపంది ముండ్లు తీసినట్లు like pulling out the porcupines quills. ఏదువాసన a disgusting smell like that of a porcupine. cf. 'It stinks like a badger.' ఏదుకర్రలవంకెలు (H. iv. 159.) a sort of grain. ఏదుగడ్డి ēdu-gaḍḍi. n. Andropagon contortus, or the Spear grass. (Watts.) ఏదువేట ēdu-vēṭa. n. A kind of chase. వేటలో నొక భేదము.

(p. 219) ōla ōla. [Tel.] n. A cry, shout, hurrah! Bathing, playing in water. జలక్రీడ M. viii. iii. 112. ఓలగందము ōla-gandamu. n. Saffron that is smeared over the body while bathing పూతపసుపు.

(p. 227) kampu kampu. [Skt.] n. A smell వాసన. A stink దుర్గంధము. In ancient Telugu this denoted any scent, pleasant or not. P. i. 703. A. i. 87. కంపుకొట్టు kampu-koṭṭu. v. n. To smell, to stink. కంపిరుగుడు or కంపుటిరుగుడు kamp-iruguḍu. n. The stinking ఇరుగుడు. See కంపుతుమ్మ చెట్టు kampu-tumma-cheṭṭu. n. The field Mimosa tree. కంపునాగు kampu-nāgu. n. The fetid coluber, a stinking kind of snake. కంపెలుక kamp-eluka. n. The musk rat. చుంచు.

(p. 1400) kanugu kasugu. [Tel.] v. n. To be bruised, to be vexed in mind నలుగు. v. a. To bruise, rub, smear, give pain, నలుచు, వులుము, బాధించు.

(p. 246) kamaru or కమురు kamaru. [Tel.] v. n. To singe, be singed or charred. కాలు. To smell badly. కమరుచు or కమర్చు kamaruṭsu. v. a. To singe or char. కాల్చు. కమరు. adj. Singeing, burning. కమరువాసన a smell that arises from something burning as hair. కాలినకంపు.

(p. 248) kammerāku kammer-āku. [Tel.] n. A strong smelling species of black betel leaf. కారపునల్లతమలపాకు.
