(p. 110) āghrāṇamu ā-ghrāṇamu. [Skt.] n. Smelling. The sense of smell. ఆఘ్రూణించు ā-ghrāṇinṭsu. v. a. To smell. వాసన చూచు, ముక్కుతో పీల్చు.

(p. 198) ēdu or ఏదువంది ēdu. [Tel.] n. A procupine. ముండ్లపంది. One species is called కోడియేదు but in the south it is called ఒంటరికాడు. HD. i. 512. ఏదుపెరికినట్లు or ఏదుపంది ముండ్లు తీసినట్లు like pulling out the porcupines quills. ఏదువాసన a disgusting smell like that of a porcupine. cf. 'It stinks like a badger.' ఏదుకర్రలవంకెలు (H. iv. 159.) a sort of grain. ఏదుగడ్డి ēdu-gaḍḍi. n. Andropagon contortus, or the Spear grass. (Watts.) ఏదువేట ēdu-vēṭa. n. A kind of chase. వేటలో నొక భేదము.

(p. 227) kampu kampu. [Skt.] n. A smell వాసన. A stink దుర్గంధము. In ancient Telugu this denoted any scent, pleasant or not. P. i. 703. A. i. 87. కంపుకొట్టు kampu-koṭṭu. v. n. To smell, to stink. కంపిరుగుడు or కంపుటిరుగుడు kamp-iruguḍu. n. The stinking ఇరుగుడు. See కంపుతుమ్మ చెట్టు kampu-tumma-cheṭṭu. n. The field Mimosa tree. కంపునాగు kampu-nāgu. n. (p. 248) kammerāku kammer-āku. [Tel.] n. A strong smelling species of black betel leaf. కారపునల్లతమలపాకు.

Great, big. కారుటెలుగు, a loud cry. పెద్దబొబ్బలు,. కారువాసన a strong smell, a stale smell. కారుకూతలు rude language. కారుమొసలి a wild crocodile or alligator. కారుకొను or కార్కొను kāru-konu. v. i. To blacken. నల్లబారు. To be noisy సందడించు.

(p. 316) koṭṭu koṭṭu. [Tel.] v. n. To strike. గంట కొట్టినది the clock has struck. గాలి కొట్టుచున్నది the wind is blowing. కంపు కొట్టినది it smells badly. కొల్లగొట్టినాడు he plundered. పిడుగు ఆ చెట్టును చీలగొట్టినది the thunder bolt struck and split the tree. దాన్ని పురుగులుకొట్టినవి insects have attacked it. వానికి ముఖము కొట్టినది he is surfeited or gorged. వానకొట్టినది there was rain. వానికి ఎండకొట్టినది he was exposed to the sun. కొట్టినపిండి a well bruised flour, -- a phrase implying thorough knowledge of any subject. వానికి రామాయణము కొట్టినపిండి he is thoroughly acquainted with the Rāmāyaṇa. 'కోమలినాకునెట్టియెడ కొట్టినపిండి సమస్తలలోకముల్ నీమదికింపులైనయవి నిర్భరశక్తినిదేసమర్థుడన్.' KP. vi. 30.

(p. 323) kolimi kolimi. [Tel.] n. A pit. A fire pit or furnace. ముద్దకొలిమి a smelting forge. నీళ్లకొలిమి a reservoir. కొలిమిత్తిత్తి a pair of bellows.

(p. 331) kaucu or కవుచు kautsu. [Tel.] n. A scale of a fish. చేపపొలుసు. Fish-smell, stench చేపవాసన.

(p. 355) gaduru gaduru. [Tel.] n. To increase, to become augmented. హెచ్చు, వ్యాపించు. n. A bad smell, a stink. చెడుకంపు, దుర్గంధము.

(p. 356) gabbu gabbu. [Tel.] n. Orig: any strong smell or savour, good or bad. A bad smell, a stench. కంపు. గబ్బుచెంపమెకము an elephant ఏనుగు. Pride గర్వము, మడము. గబ్బులుగు gab-bulugu. [గబ్బు+పులుగు] n. A bird of omen. ఒక శకునపుపక్షి.

(p. 357) gamagama gama-gama. [Tel.] adv. (Anuk) Sweetly, fragrantly ఘుమఘుమ. Swa. ii. 59. Eagerly (hungry) గమగమయని ఆకలి అయినది he was very hungry. గమగమించు gama-gaminṭsu. v. n. To smell very sweet. గమగమయని వాసనకొట్టు. 'గీ కప్పురపువీడియపు తాని గమగమింప.' శేష. iv.

(p. 361) gastu gastu. [Tel.] n. Nastiness, a rank smell. adj. Nasty. గస్తుకంపు A stench, a nasty smell.

(p. 377) guppu guppu. [Tel.] v. n. To be diffused, or spread, as a smell. 'ఇక్షుదండము ప్రేమ భక్షింపభక్షింప, చప్పనేలగురుచుల్ గుప్పుగాక.' Kalah. § 35. 'ధూపంబువాసనగుప్పన్.' T. ii. 84. గుప్పు v. a. To pound or beat. To throw, fling or toss. గందపొడిగుప్పిరి they threw powder in handfuls. 'అతనుడునృపతిగుప్పుచున్నాడు పువ్వుకోలలను' L. X. 98. To place ఉంచు. To sprinkle చల్లు. To throw as a missile or an arrow విసిరివేయు, ప్రయోగించు. To thrust as a calf does at the udder పొదగును పొడుచు. గుప్పు n. A blow, a dash. గుప్పన guppana. adv. Sweetly, fragrantly.
