(p. 18) aṃsamu amsamu. [Skt.] n. A shoulder, భుజశిరస్సు. అంసకూటము, a bull's hump. అంసపాదికట్టె a small forked prop which supports the woodwork on which a roof is laid. A small forked stake used at intervals to relieve the shoulders of those who bear a car, &c., in procession. అంసఫలకము, the upper part of the spine.

(p. 1397) araṇi araṇi. [Skt.] n. A plant which supplies the wood for this purpose, Prunna spinosa.

(p. 145) īra īra. [Tel.] n. The inner flesh, the core of the heart. A spindle or shank for winding thread. ఈరె.

(p. 149) ukkina or ఉక్కిసము ukkisa. [Tel.] n. Asthma, gasping for breath. ఉబ్బసము. ఎగ ఊపిరి, కాసము. Dry cough. పొడిదగ్గు.

(p. 149) ukkeḍa ukkeḍa. [Tel.] n. An oblong ball of thread for a spindle.

(p. 149) uggu uggu. [Tel.] n. A mixture of castor oil and breastmilk given to infants. A wrinkle or plait in cloth. మడత. Confusion. ఉగ్గుపడు uggu-paḍu. v. i. To form into a fold. ముడతపడు. ఉగ్గులుపారు uggulu-pāru. v. n. To run into a knot in spinning or twisting, to be entangled, to run into wrinkles. మెలిపడు. To be confused or confounded.

(p. 164) upōdaki ūpōdaki. [Skt.] n. A kind of spinach. Basella alba or Basella cordifera. బచ్చలి.

(p. 195) ēku ēku. [Tel.] v. a. To beat కొట్టు. To pick, beat, or clean cotton. ఏకినదూది cleaned cotton. To slander, defame. దూరు, నిందించు. వాణ్ని యేకి కాకులకు పెట్టినారు they defamed him. ఏకించు ēkinṭsu. [the causal of ఏకు] v. t. To cause to pick or clean cotton. అతని చేత దూదిని యేకించినారు they made him clean the cotton. ఏకు n. A flock of cotton or wool. ఏకులువడుకు to spin cotton. ఏకుడు ēkuḍu.n. Cleaning cotton. దూదిని యేకడము.

(p. 207) ogarucu or ఒగర్చు ogaruṭsu. [Tel.] v. i. To gasp, to breathe hard. వగరుచు. ఒగర్పు or ఒగరుపు ogarpu. n. Gasping, difficulty of breathing, panting. ఒగర్పు మూట ogarpu-mūṭa. n. A certain fee or àllowance on grain granted to reapers, &c.

(p. 239) kaduru kaduru. [Tel.] n. A spindle, an awl. A sort of fish.

(p. 243) kannāku kannāku. [Tel. కన్ను+ఆకు.] n. The spoke of a spinning wheel, which, being the last put in, keeps the rest all tight. The outside leaf in a bundle of betal leaves. The finishing bit or corner stone; that which keeps all the rest right. A noble or excellent person. రక్షకుడు; ముఖ్యుడు, అగ్రేసరుడు. M. VI. i. 92.

(p. 244) kapi kapi. [Skt.] n. A monkey. కోతి. కపిధ్వజుడు a title of Arjuna. కపిముష్టిన్యాయము a monkey-like grasp, obstinacy, pertinacity. (This alludes to a mode of catching a monkey, by putting grain into a cocoanut with a hole large enough to admit the monkey's hand: he thrusts it in, and after grasping the grain, his fist is caught in the hole: he obstinately refuses to let the grain go, and thus is secured.)

(p. 289) kuṇḍalamu kunḍalamu. [Skt.] n. An earring. చెవిపోగు, కుండలి kunḍali. n. One who has earrings. పోగులు గలవాడు. A snake or serpent పాము. A mystic phrase for the spinal marrow. A circular dance. కుండలాకారనృత్యము. (భార. విరా. i.) కుండలిస్థానము or కుండలిని or కుండలిశక్తి the pineal gland. సుఘమ్న (Vasu. Pref. 71.) Heyne says, a name of the తెల్ల ఉప్పిడి చెట్టు. కుండలినాడి. కుండలించుkunḍal-inṭsu. v. t. To put or mark a cipher round anything సున్నచుట్టు. (చంద్రా. i.) కుండలీ కరణము kunḍali-karaṇamu. n. To cancel by drawing a circle round an erroneous line. Giving or making a cipher సున్నచుట్టుట.

(p. 330) kōlemmu kōlemmu. [Tel. కోల+ఎమ్ము.] n. Lit. The long bone, that is, the spine or back bone.

(p. 336) krommu krommu. [Tel.] n. A shrub, Lawsonia spinosa. The nail-dye plant గోరింట.
