(p. 96) avasaramu avasaramu. [Skt.] n. Occasion, opportunity, వేళ, సమయము, కార్యోచిత సమయము. ఇది మూడో అవసరము this is the third time. 'చేరవచ్చు నయ్యవసరంబున,' T. iii. 39. అవసరము also means food offered as a meal to a god, or a kind of mantram said on the occasion. శ్రీరంగములో అరువై అవసరములు అరగింపు చేయుదురు they make an offering of sixty meals. Also necessity, urgency, hurry, flurry. అగత్యము, ఆతురము. అవసరమైనప్పుడు నిన్ని పిలిపించుకొంటాను I will send for you when necessary. అవసరము చేస్తే పని వెడిపోవును if you hurry the business will be spoiled. అది నాకు అవసరము లేదు. I have no occasion for this. అవసరము adj. Necessary, urgent, hurried, hasty. అగత్యమైన, అతురమైన, అవసరమైన పని urgent business. అవసరపడు avasara-paḍu. v. n. To hurry, to haste. అవసరముగా adv. Urgently, in haste. అగత్యముగా, ఆతురముగా, అవసరించు ava-sarinṭsu. [Skt.] v. a. To hurry, make haste. త్వరచేయు.

(p. 117) ābhāsamu , ఆభాసు ābhāsamu. [Skt.] n. Fallacy, corruption. ఆభాసముచేయు to injure, to spoil. ఆభాసాంధ్రము a coarse low dialect of Telugu.

To strike out or rescind (a word). దారులు కొట్టు to rob (on) the high road. గోడను కాగితముకొట్టు to put (or stick) a paper on the wall. చప్పట్లుకొట్టు to clap the hands. అచ్చుకొట్టు to print. కొర్రుకొట్టు to impale. ఈతకొట్టు to swim. నన్నుముకొట్టు to whitewash. నన్ను దొంగలుకొట్టినారు thieves robbed me. చెంపకొట్టు to give a slap on the cheek. బుడ్డికొట్టు to crack a bottle, i.e, drink liquor. తలకొట్టు to behead, to ruin. పిండికొట్టు to pound flour. డేరాకొట్టు to pitch a tent. ఊడగొట్టు to loosen. చెడగొట్టు to spoil or ruin. తేలగొట్టు to set afloat. దిగగొట్టు to drive in. నలియగొట్టు to bruise. పండ్లు రాలగొట్టు to knock out a man's teeth. పగలగొట్టు a break to pieces. పడగొట్టు to throw down. పోగొట్టు to lose. విరుగగొట్టు to break; సాగగొట్టు to beat out (metal). ఊకొట్టు to hum in assent while listening. బుసకొట్టు to hiss. వాడు చేసిన దౌర్జన్యము వాణ్ని కొట్టినది his wickedness has fallen on his own head. నా నోట్లో మన్ను కొట్టినారు they have cast earth into my mouth, i.e., cheated or ruined me. కొట్టించు koṭṭinṭsu. v. t. To cause to beat.

(p. 330) kōlupōvu kōlu-pōvu. [Tel.] v. a. To lose. 'ఇక్కడ నినునిటుగోలుపోయి.' BRY. ii. 777. v. n. To be spoiled. చెడు. కోలుపోక kōlu-pōka. n. Losing. పోగొట్టుకొనుట .

(p. 1402) gōmu gōmu. [Tel. for గారాబము.] n. Excessive kindness, over-indulgence. పిల్లవానిని గోముచేన్తున్నాడు he is spoiling the child.

(p. 409) cindara chindara. [Tel.] n. Ruin, breaking. A fragment, bit, shattered piece. Dilapidation, ugliness, disagreeableness. 'చెవులు చిందరచేసెఝిల్లికానినదంబు' the crickets chirped with earsplitting shrillness. HD. i. 1745. చిందర adj. Ugly, disagreeable, ruinous. చిందరవందర chindara-vandara. adv. (anuk) Piece-meal; here and there; in pieces, in shatters. Anir. iii. 92. చిందరవందరచేయు or చిందర చేయు chindara-vandara-chēyu. v. n. To shatter or shiver. To hack, to cut to pieces, to spoil. చిందరవందరలుగా adv. tossed: at random, in confusion: recklessly, dishevelled, flying loose as hair. చిందరపోవు to spring a leak తూటుపోవు. చిందరగొను to be enraged or furious. విజృంభించు. చిందరరేగు to be infused with ఆవేశమెత్తు.

(p. 422) civuku chivuku. [Tel.] v. n. To rot, to be damaged, weakened, wasted or spoilt. సారహీనమగు. To pine with grief or sorrow. చివికిన rotten, damaged, శిధిలమైన, కుళ్లిన; pining కలతనొందిన. చివుకు n. Corruption, spoiling, rotting. Pining మనస్సుకలత నొందడము. చివుక్కు chivukku. adv. Impetuously, rampantly, briskly, with agility. చివుక్కున at once, suddenly. చివుక్కురుమను to be confused or agitated in mind మనస్సుకలుగు.

(p. 423) cīku chīku. [Tel.] adj. Blind. Sapless చివుకు, నిప్సారము. n. A blind person. Dampness, damp, తడి, చీకారణ్యము a dense forest. చీకులు fools. చీకుముల్లులు minute prickles. v. a. To suck (a mango, &c.) To smack with the lips. చప్పరించు, చుంబించు. v. n. To be damaged, to rot or be spoiled, by damp, &c. See చివుకు. చీకుకొక్కెర, చీకురాయి or చీకువాయి chīku-kokkera n. The Indian Fruit-Bat or Flying-Fox Pteropus medius. (F.B.I.) ఋషిపిట్ట. చీకురు chīkuru. n. Blindness. A blind man. చీకురువాయి a beetle or cricket కుమ్మరపురుగు. చీకువాలు chīku-vālu. n. Darkness. తిమిరము.

(p. 452) cūra ṭsūra. [Tel.] n. Powder, dust పొడి. Plunder, spoil కొల్ల. వజ్రములచూర (for చూర్ణము) Diamond dust.ముత్తెపుచూర pearl powder. 'కన్చూరలుగోన్న.' అనగా కండ్లపండుగగాచూచిన. (Satyabh. iii. 22) he thought his very eyes enriched. చూరగా freely, liberally, to the full, to satiety. చురయిచ్చు to cast to the dogs: to give lavishly. చూరకొను, చూరపుచ్చు, చూరలాడు or చూరాడు to plunder, waste, ravage, చూరవిడుచు to give up to be plundered, as a conquered city. చూరయేట a scape goat, one let go as a sacrifice. చూరకారుడు a plunderer. చూరకోలు plundering చూరపోవు to be plundered.

(p. 428) ceḍu cheḍu. [Tel.] v. n. To be spoiled or damaged. To become rotten or worthless. To become wicked or bad. To be dispelled, dissipated, or done away with as darkness. To become bad, damaged or ruined. నశించు, కనబడకపోవు. To change, be altered from its original state. 'నకారము చెడి అర్థబిందువు వచ్చెను (Appa. C. ii. 31.) the letter N is dropt and the nasal sign (sunna) is substituted.' అది చెడె it is ruined! వాసిచెడినకాంతి with diminished brilliancy. నీ సంశయము చెడును your doubts shall be dissipated. M. XIII. v. 97. చెడగొట్టు cheḍa-goṭṭu. v. t. To ruin, spoil. చెడనాడు cheḍa-n-āḍu. v. t. To blame. నిందించు. To curse. To say 'Be it ruined'! To scorn. To waste, throw away. చెడిప cheḍipa. (చెడిన+అప.) n. An unchaste woman. రంకుటాలు. చెడు adj. Vile, worthless, Horrid, abominable. చెడుచిక్కు a terrible difficulty. చెడుగు cheḍugu. adj. Ruined, vile, worthless, Cruel క్రూరము. n. Evil, a misfortune or calamity. అశుభము. A bad woman దుష్టురాలు. చెడుగడు or చెడుగొట్టు cheḍu-gaḍu. n. A miscreant, a wretch. క్రూరుడు. P. i. 559. చెడ్డ cheḍḍa. (contracted form చెడిన.) adj. Bad, spoiled ruined, lost. Terrible, awful, tremendous. Hard, cruel. n. Evil. కీడు. మంచిచెడ్డలు good and bad. కులముచెడ్డవాడు one who has lost caste. తలచెడ్డచెట్టు a pollard, a tree that has lost its head. చెడ్డతనము cheḍḍa-tanamu. n. Badness, wickedness, severity.

(p. 431) cerucu or చెరచు cheruṭsu. [Tel.] v. a. To spoil, చెడజేయు; to hurt, to ruin, నశింపజేయు; to ravish, debauch. చెరుపు or చెడుపు cherupu. n. Damage, harm, ruin, loss, spoiling, dissension. పని చెరుపు hindrance, prevention. పనిచెరుపు కథ a nonsensical idle story. చెరుపుదల. cherupu-dala. n.
