(p. 144) īdu īdu. [Tel.] v. n. To swim. ఈత īta. n. Swimming. ఈతకాడు a swimmer. ఈతకాయ a swimming gourd, a float. ఈతకొట్టు or ఈతలాడు or ఈదులాడు to swim or float. వ్రేలాడు. దారిద్రమనే సముద్రమునందు యీదులాడుచున్నాను. I am struggling in the sea of poverty.

(p. 213) oramu or ఒరియు orayu. [Tel.] v. n. To rub together, be in contact. To touch or graze, as a bullet. To be bruised. To struggle or compete with. విద్యతో నొరయు to become familiar with (learning.) ఉంగరము వేలును ఒరిసికొనిపోయినది the ring has grown into the finger. గుండు ఒరిసిపోయినది the ball grazed (my hand.) నేను పడినందున నా మోకాలు ఒరిసికొనిపోయినది I fell and my knee was bruised. ఒరయు v. a. To rub రాచు, to try on the touchstone ఒరపెట్టు. To test or to examine పరీక్షించు. To consider or enquire into విచారించు. To search for వెదకు. ఒరయిక ora-ika. n. Rubbing, contact రాపిడి.

(p. 239) kadumu kadumu. [Tel.] n. A lump, a swelling, a bump. వాపు, a tumour. గడ్డ. v. a. To encroach upon, to occupy ఆక్రమించు. To push away. To rebuke, check. కదుముకొను to struggle.

(p. 347) gaṇṭi ganṭi. [Tel.] n. A hole or bore (in the ear for an earring.) An interstice, or ward of a key. A wound, sore, hurt. గాయము, క్షతి. Sorrow దుఃఖము. plu. గంట్లు గంటిపడు ganṭi-paḍu. v. n. To be wounded, hurt, or bruised. గంటు ganṭu. v. t. To wound, to hurt గాయముచేయు. n. A depression. A joint గనుపు. A knot ముడి, a knot of hair వెండ్రుకలముడి. గంటుపెట్టు ganṭu-peṭṭu. v. n. (p. 371) guṃzu gunzu [Tel.] v. a. To pull: ఈడ్చు. To wash clothes or to mangle linen ఉదుకు n. Pulp; pith. గు౛్జు. గుం౛ుకొను gunzu-konu. v. a. An attack, a struggle చివ్వాలాడు to grapple with, to encounter. పులితో చివ్వాలాడు to be in grips with a tiger; i.e., to be in a critical position.

To sift or examine thoroughly: తూరు (bran) పారునట్టు ఎత్తు, లేక, పట్టు. తూరుపు or తూర్పు tūrupu. [Tel. from తూరు. to enter. Lit. where the sun enters] n. The East. తూరుపుకొండ tūrupu-konḍu. n. The Eastern Hill, an imaginary hill supposed to be situated where the sun rises. తూరుపురేడు lit. the Lord of the East, i.e., Indra.

(p. 565) tōdōpulu tō-dōpulu. [Tel. తోపు+తోపు.] n. Exultation, pushing forward. తోదోపులుమీరి in an increasing struggle; ప్రజ విస్తారమువచ్చినది గనుక తోదోపులు నేడు అధికము a great crowd of people came, so to-day there is great excitement. తోదోపులాడు or తోద్రోపులాడు tō-dōpu-l-āḍu. v. n. To overflow or burst forth as the feelings. 'ఆ పొలతివలపు తలపునడాపక తోడ్రోపులాడుటయు.' T. ii. 100. టీ పైపైకి తోనుకొనివచ్చుట.

(p. 607) dēvu dēvu. [Tel.] v. a. To rinse. To take rice, &c. out of water with the hand. To grope for, as with a drage under water, to trample on so as to destroy, as salt. నీళ్లలోనుండి తడవియెత్తు, వెదకు. v. n. To turn, as the stomach when queasy. నా కడుపు దేవుచున్నది I am sickish; my stomach turns. దేవుకొను dēvu-konu. v. t. To scrape together. To root up, turn up. To plunder, rifle. 'పదార్థంబులు దేవుకొని వచ్చి.' BD. v. 696. దేవురించు dēvurinṭsu. v. a. To sue, intreat, plague or beset with petitions, to beg eagerly, to importune. దీనవృత్తిని యాచించు, దైన్యమునొందు. దేవురుగొట్టు dēvuru-goṭṭu. n. A sneak, one who sues for favour, a mean beggar. దేబె, దీనుడు. దేవురింపు or దేవురు dēvu-rimpu. n. Begging with importunity. Lamentation, bewailing, complaining, ఏడ్పు, మొర. దేవులాడు dēvul-āḍu. v. n. To dive in water, to search in water. To roam about, to be in trouble, to pine or struggle. దేవులాడి సాధిస్తిని I managed to effect it with a great effort.

(p. 611) dommi dommi. [Tel.] n. A swarm, rabble, mob, crowd. A melee flight. 'A fray, a skrimish. A noise, సందడి. దొమ్మిగూడి వచ్చిరి they came in a mob. దొమ్మలాడు to riot, to fight. To be distressed, to suffer: to struggle, పెనగులాడు. దొమ్మియుద్ధము a melee fight. దొమ్మిగా tumultously, confusedly, noisily, buzzingly: in the lump, indiscriminately. దొమ్మితనము dommi-tanamu. n. Riotousness.
