(p. 501) tagiliñcu tagilinṭsu. [Tel. causal of తగులు.] v. a. To apply (paint, a bandage, punishment, a rule, the law, &c.) To fasten (a bolt, &c.) To inflict (pain.) To attach, fix, insert, lock, bolt, hang on, stick into, అగ్నితగిలించు to set fire. నన్ను ఆ పనిలో తగిలించిరి they involved me in that business. వానికి సంకెలలు తగిలించిరి they put fetters upon him. తగిలించుకొను tagilinṭsu-konu. v. a. (middle voice) to put on, apply to oneself, to become involved in, to catch, to contract. రోగమును తగిలించుకొను to catch or contract disease. సంకిళ్లు తగిలించుకొన్నాడు he put on fetters.

(p. 501) tagu tagu. [Tel.] v. n. To be fit, or proper, to suit or agree, suffice. యుక్తమగు. p|| తగిన or తగ్గ, fit, proper, moderate. Neg. p|| తగని unfit, unsuitable, immoderate, vast, horrid. It is often used impersonally: Thus అట్లు చేయదగునా is it fit to do so? పోదగదు it is not right to go. తెలిసికొనదగును it is possible to discover it 'తపసులుపురమునతగదువర్తింప.' DRK. 204. తగుమాత్రమైన sufficient, some. తగుమాత్రముగా moderately, well, amply. తగుమాత్రముగొప్ప pretty large. Here తగు is used as a p|| instead of తగిన. తగిన tagina (Rel. p|| of తగు.) adj. Fitting, proper, due, right, likely, probable, pretty. తగినమాత్రము pretty well. తగినట్టుగా tagi-n-aṭṭu-gā. adv. Fitly, properly.

(p. 689) pantamu pantamu. [Tel.) n. A bet or wager, పమదెము. Determination, perseverance. A vow. ప్రతిజ్ఞ, శపథము. Rivalry. పోటి. Courage, heroism, పౌరుషము. Way, manner. విధము. నీకు వారితో పంతమేలు why do you wager against them? పంతము మీరగా emulously, eagerly. పంతకాడు panṭa-kāḍu. n. A man who is under a vow, ప్రతిజ్ఞకలవాడు. A rival, పోటీచేయువాడు. A man of determination, పౌరుషముకలవాడు. పంతగించు pantaginṭsu. v. n. To vow, to wager, ప్రతిజ్ఞచేయు. To persevere. To rival, పోటిచేయు. To lay down a rule, to command, విధించు.

(p. 736) pāta or పాత్ర pāta. [Tel.] adj. Old, decayed, worn out. బహుదినములనాటిది. పనుపడిన. పాతకరణము the old clerk, i.e., the former one (not one who is aged.) పాతగుర్రము a horse that has been with the owner for a considerable time. అది పాతసంగతి that is an old story. n. A cloth, clothes, usually conjoined with the word, బట్ట: thus, బట్టపాత clothing and raiment. An old cloth, జీర్ణవస్త్రము. పాతగిలు, పాతగిల్లు, ప్రాతగిలు or ప్రాతగిల్లు pātagilu. v. n. To grow old. పాతృదియగు. పాతకాపు pāta-kāpu. n. An old resident. పాతరికము pātarikamu. n. Oldness. Experience.

(p. 1090) rōta rōta. [Tel. from రోయు.] n. Foulness, filth, nastiness. అసహ్యము, ఏవము, జుగుప్స. adj. Foul, nasty, squalid, disgusting. Disgraceful, abominable, hideous, horrid, vile. అసహ్యమైన. రోతలు rōtālu. n. plu. Abuses, తిట్లు. రోతగించు rōtaginṭsu. v. n. To feel a disgust for, రోతపడు.

To be possessed by a demon, to be affected by the evil influence of stars or demons, గ్రహమావేశించు. n. Touching. A touch, contact; a sensation, తాకుట, స్పర్శము. A blow, దెబ్బ, పోటు. An evil spirit, a demon, రాక్షసుడు, పిశాచము. 'నవ్వెదనీమేన నాటింతునాసోకు.' N. ix. 409. 'మూర్ధాభిషిక్తుండు సోకోర్చియిల కుదగునలజళ్లుదీర్చి.' A. iv. 335 'కుమారశిలీము. ఖాళి సోకులనిజగృత్పటల్ విరిసి.' P. iv. 142. దీనిమీద ఎండ సోకుచున్నది it is exposed to the sun. గాలి సోకకుండా ఉండు to be screened from the wind's touch. 'నిప్పు సోకినక్రియ.' Ellana. i. 252. 'పరుసముసోకిన బంగారమైనట్టు.' Vema. 504.
