(p. 641) nāgavalli nāga-valli. [Skt.] n. The vine that produces the betel leaf or tamala-pāku. నాగవల్లి or more correctly written నాకబలి, i.e., దేవతలకుచేయుపూజ. The finishing ceremony of a marriage (where in a betel leaf is given) which is performed on the fourth day. Betel nut is presented to a parting guest and thus has come to denote taking leave, or dismissal, as well as the opposite sense of admission or installation. నాగవసాని or నాగప్పసాని nāgapa-sāni. n. A married lady who conducts the నాగవల్లి ceremony. నాపసాని (another form of నాగపసాని.) nāpasāni. n. A matron.
