(p. 16) ambali ambali. [Tel; plu, అంబలులు, అంబళులు or అంబళ్లు. Gen. అంబటి] n. Porridge. పిండి నూకలువేసి ౛ావగాకాచినది. చింతంబలి paste made of pounded tamarind seeds. అంబట్టి కుండ a porridge-pot. అంబటిప్రొద్దు break-fast time: about noon. 'పలుచనియంబళుల్ చెరుకుపాలెడనీళ్లు ... వడపిందెలు నీరుచల్లయున్ వెలయగబెట్టు వెసవిఁజందనచర్చమున్నగన్.' Amuk. i. 41.

(p. 33) aḍa aḍa. [Tel.] n. A lump, clot, mass (as of dates, sugar, hair, &c.) ముద్ద, చింతపండడలు lumps of tamarind. అడకట్టు or అడగొను to become clotted. ముద్దకట్టుకొను. తల అడలుకట్టినది the hair became matted, all the tresses are matted together. అడచేయు aḍa-chēyu. [Tel.] v. To knead and make into lump.

(p. 76) amlamu amlamu. [Skt.] adj. Acid, sour. పుల్లని. ఆమ్లము n. Acidity. పులుసు. అమ్లిక amlika. n. A tamarind tree. చింతచెట్టు ఆమ్లవర్గము amla-vargamu. [Skt.] A class of trees with acid leaves or fruits, such as the lime, orange, pomegranate, tamarind, &c.

(p. 118) āmlamu āmlamu. [Skt.] n. The tamarind tree or fruit. Sourness. పులుసు.

(p. 151) uṭṭi uṭṭi. [Tel. plu. ఉట్లు.] n. A fibrous network sling, in which pots, &c., are suspended from the beams of the house. కలిమి పోయిన వెనుక నుట్టికనుగొననేల why long for little things after losing the greater? ఉట్లూడిపడి వచ్చినది it came down by the run, it fell down flat. చింతపండు యొక్క ఉట్లు the fibres inside a ripe tamarind.

(p. 217) ōḍa ōḍa. [Tel.] n. A ship, a boat. The word ఓడ prefixed to the names of some drugs, &c. answers to foreign or imported as ఓడచింతకాయ imported tamarinds. ఓడపోక imported area. ఓడకీలు Pitch. See కీలు.

(p. 218) ōmanakāyalu ōmana-kāyalu. [Tel.] n. Pieces such as tamarind seeds, &c., used in a game called ఓమనగుంటలాట. ఓమనగుంటలు ōmana-guṇṭalu. n. A kind of game అచ్చనగండ్లు ఓమనపీట a small table which is hollowed out in a number of places, to be used in this game.

(p. 267) kācu kāṭsu. [Tel. from కాగు.] v. n. To be hot; to shine, as the sun or moon. To be hot as fever. To wait, dangle in attendence. నాకు జ్వరముకాచినది I had the fever on me. కొంచెము జ్వరముకాస్తున్నది there is a little fever. చలికాచుకొనుట to bask or sit by the fireside, or to warm oneself. ఎండకాస్తున్నది there is sunshine. ఆ చింతచెట్టు కాయడములేదు that tamarind tree does not bear. To wait for, attend on నాకొరకు కాచుకొన్నాడు he is waiting for me. అతని వద్ద మూడు ఏండ్లు కాచుకొని యుంటిని I was in attendance on his for three years. కాచు v. a. To boil; to heat, to warm. To bear fruit. కాగజేయు. ఆ ఊరంతా కాచి వడపోసినాడు lit. he has boiled and strained off the town, i.e., he has made himself master of the whole town. తేనీళ్లుకాచు to make tea. బెల్లము కాచడము sugar making. రాత్రి అంతా వారికి కాచడము కట్టడముతో సరిపోయినది the whole night was passed in fomenting and binding up the limbs.

(p. 366) giṃza ginza. [Tel.] n. A grain, a seed. విత్తు. గింజలు grain or corn. గింజలు పట్టిన తర్వాత after the corn is formed in the ear. చింతగింజ a tamarind stone. మిరియపుగింజ a peppercorn: (fig.) a dapper little fellow. గింజలేరు to glean. గింజలేరుమనికి beggary: living upon gleanings. ఈతగిం౛నువేసి తాటిగిం౛ను ఈడ్చుట to venture a date seed in order to get hold of a palmyra stone, i.e., to stake a trifle in hopes of great gain.

(p. 377) gunna gunna. [Tel.] adj. Young: as a cub of a young animal or tree. గున్నచింత a low or bushy tamarind tree. గున్నయేనుగు an elephant's cub. గున్నపంది a young pig. n. The young of an animal: a child: a cub: a sapling, suckling or young tree. మామిడి గున్న a young mango tree. 'గున్నలపైకినుక సేయగూడుసెబావా.' Chenna. iii. 161.

(p. 382) gulla gulla. [Tel.] n. A shell: a husk: a cowry shell. కప్పచిప్ప. A white pustule బొబ్బ. Anything hollow బోలు. Cotton in the pod. The hull of ship. (Vizag.) గుల్లకాసు a farthing: (lit. a shell) or a penny. గుల్లసున్నము shell lime. చింతగుల్ల tamarinds in the shell or husk. గుల్లాగుట్ర trash, rubbish, gewgaws. adj. Hollow, empty. బోలు. గుల్లకర్ర a tube. ఇల్లు గుల్లచేసినాడు or తుడిచిపెట్టినాడు he emptied or plundered the house. గుల్లపుటిక a small basket. గుల్లపొగాకు tobacco that is immature and worthless, గుల్లపడు to be disgraced అవమానపడు. గుల్లపరుచు to empty, to scorn, to disgrace. HD. ii. 168. గుల్లకాడు an empty handed man ఏమిన్ని లేనివాడు.

(p. 373) guzju guzzu. [Tel.] n. A prop: an upright piece of wood used in supporting a shorter beam on a longer one in a shelving roof. A dwarf. Pulp, thick juice. చింతపండుగు౛్జు the pulp of tamarinds mixed with water. గద్దరికొమ్మలగు౛్జు (G. 151.) a short ox పొట్టియెద్దు. The cotton pod after the flower has fallen. గు౛్జు adj. Short, stumpy, dwarfish. గు౛్జువాడు a dwarf. గుజ్జుది a dumpy woman. ఎక్కిన వానికి ఏనుగుగు౛్జట అనగా వాడుకగా ఎక్కేవానికి ఏనుగు అలక్ష్యము. Familiarity breeds contempt. గు౛్జుతనము guzzu-tanamu. n. Shortness, dwarfishness. గు౛్జుప్రాలు a sort of rice. గు౛్జుమామిడి n. A young or dwarf mango tree. గు౛్జువేల్పు Lit. the plump short god. A name of Gaṇēsa. గుజ్జెన gujjena. adj. Infantile, childish గుజ్జెనగూళ్లు doll's dinners, children playing at cookery.
