(p. 34) aḍamānamu adamānamu. [Tam.] A mortgage. కుదవ, తాకట్టు (not used in pure Tel. Districts.)

(p. 111) aḍi āḍi. An affix (derived from ఆడు) implying 'doer' or 'performer,' as మాయలు tricks, మాయలాడి a rogue: ముద్దులు fondness, ముద్దులాడి a fond girl: కులుకులు graces, కులుకులాడి a lovely woman: టక్కులు pranks, టక్కులాడి a cheat.

(p. 68) abvābu abvābu. [H.] n. (Lit. Doors, chapters.) Miscellaneous revenue accounts. 'The usual heads in Revenue accounts are Mal and Abwab. The Mal or Regular revenue is collected on land and customs, including taxes on liquors, &c The Abwab, or Miscellaneous includes the difference of exchange (often considerable) between that of the market and the fixed rate at which the revenue of the district is paid, casual aid or support of the Government officers, fees to the shroff, and contributions to various feasts.' (p. 74) amāntamu amāntamu. [H.] adv. Unexpectedly, all at once. Totally, wholly. లటుక్కున, యావత్తున్ను. ఆ రాళ్లను అమాంతముగా ఎత్తినాడు he raised the rocks bodily. అమాంతగాడు [H.] n. An interloper, నడికొల్లగాడు also, a petty dealer. చిల్లరబేరగాడు. అమాంతవర్తకము. Interloping. tricks in trade. అమాంతవర్తకుడు. An interloper in trade. నడికొల్లగాడైన వర్తకుడు.

(p. 83) argaḷamu argaḷamu. [Skt.] n. A round wooden bar or bolt for a door. గడియమాను. (Metaphorically) an impediment, hindrance, restraint. విఘ్నము, అభ్యంతరము. అనర్గళముగా irresistibly. వాని అధికారము అవర్గళముగా జరుగుచున్నది his authority is unrestricted.

(p. 129) āsēdhamu āsēdhamu. [Skt.] n. Check, restraint. అడ్డగింత. Arrest: legal restraint; limitation of four kinds, viz.: కాలాసేధము limitation of time, స్ధానాసేధము confinement to a place, ప్రవాసాసేధము prohibition against removal or departure, కర్మాసేధము restriction from employment.

(p. 187) ettu ettu. [Tel.] n. 1. Height. ఉన్నతము. 2. Weight: బరువు, తూనిక. The weight of a quarter of a maund, i. e., two viss, or, six pounds and a quarter రెండువీసెలకొలది. (A. v. 96.) A wreath of flowers. పువ్వుటెత్తు, పుష్పసరము. A move at chees చదరంగపుఎత్తు; hence (metaphorically) a contrivance, a trick, ఉపాయము; an effort. ప్రయత్నము. ఎత్తులమారి a clever man. ఎత్తుకట్టు or ఎత్తుచూచు to weigh, to try. ఎత్తుకు ఎత్తు a Roland for an Oliver, one device against another. ఎత్తు ettu adj.
