(p. 8) aṇṭu antu. [Tel.] n. Uncleanness, defilement by touch, impurity, such as is caused by the death of a relative, or by touching a lower caste man. Relationship. అంటుది an unclean woman. అంటుపడ్డాడు he was polluted, he became unclean. అంటుగా ఉండేయిల్లు. a house ceremonially polluted. మాకు రేపు అంటు (లేక, మైల) వదులును tomorrow we shall be free from [ceremonial] impurity. వానికనిమాకును మరేమి అంటుసంటు లేదు I have no connection with him. I have nothing to do with him.

(p. 41) atta atta. [Tel. borrowed by Skt. in dramas.] n. Father's sister, mother-in-law, maternal uncle's wife. అత్తమామూలు mother-in-law and father-in-law.

(p. 63) apavitramu a-pavitramu. [Skt.] adj. Impure; unclean. అపరిశుద్ధమైన.

(p. 90) alli alli. [Tel.] n. The water plant called Nymphœa alba. అల్లికాడ is peduncle or flower stalk. అల్లిపువ్వు the flower of this water plant. ఉత్పలభేదము. ఆకాశపు అల్లి Menyanthes cristata, a water plant. అల్లి Nymphœa Lotus, a variety with a red flower. Rox. ii. 260, says. 'అల్లి is Memecylon Edule: a wild shrub, like broom, with beautiful fragrant flowers in bunches.' దాని ఒళ్లు అల్లికాడవలెనున్నది her body is like the stem of a water lily, she is very chilly. అల్లిరాగులు the fruit of the blue lotus.

(p. 99) aśuddhamu or అశుద్ధత a-ṣuddhamu. [Skt.] n. Impurity, uncleanness. పారిశుద్ధ్యము లేమి (Colloq:) the human excrement. అమేధ్యము. అశుద్ధము adj. Unclean, impure. అశుచియైన.

(p. 141) illu or ఇలు illu. [Tel. The primitive. form is ఇల్ which means 'a house. ఆలయము (q. v.) borrowed by Skt. from Drav. means (1) house and (2) 'God's abode' or house cf. కోయిల or కోవెల. In the Chaldee word 'Babylon (= bab-ilu), the latter part 'ilu' means 'God' by a transition of ideas.] n. A house, a chamber, room. Home, place, caste, family. A place or space in a table of accounts. A square at draughts or chess. (Genit. ఇంటి Dat. ఇంటికి. Loc. ఇంటిలో or ఇంట. Plural ఇండ్లు or ఇళ్లు.) మీరు ఏయిండ్లవారు who are you? of what family are you. 'మన యింటి చేటు చూచితే.' నిర్వ. ix. ఇంటిగుట్టు a family secret. ఇంటికి దూరమైన ceremonially unclean, i.e., ఋతుమతి యైన In poems మరునిల్లు is the భగము. ఇల్లు నింపడము setting up a house, house-warming వధూవరుల నూతన గృహప్రవేశము.

(p. 313) koṅgu kongu. [Tel.] n. A skirt, a hem. చెంగు, చెరగు, అంచు. కొంకోడుపడు or కొంగోడుపోవు kankōḍu-paḍu. v. i. To be inclined, to slant. ఒడ్డగిల్లు, ఒరుగు. 'కుక్కి వడినమిగలు గొంగోడుపోయిన.' Vishṇu. iv. 237. గుడ్డకొంగు simply means a cloth. కొంగుమాసిన menstruous, unclean.

(p. 332) kaustubhamu kaustubhamu. [Skt.] n. A carbuncle. The breastplate or jewel worn at his breast by the god Vishnu. Metaphorically, gem or masterpiece, or the noblest thing. The 'jewel' or middle ornament in a collar of knighthood. అద్వైతకాస్తుభము the masterpiece of Monism (name of a book.)

(p. 537) tuṭṭe tuṭṭe. [Tel.] n. Trash, odds and ends, stuff, rubbish. A lump ఉండ. A cluster గుంపు, సమూహము. ఈ పిండి తుట్టెకట్టిపోయినది this meal has run into lumps. తుట్టె తోడిచిరివేరు rough chay root that is uncleaned. See తుట్ట. తుట్టెపురుగు tuṭṭe-purugu. n. A sort of venomous snake barred black and grey. 'ఈ తుట్టెపురుగులేమగు నీతేజీవచ్చినపుడు.' రామా. viii.

(p. 624) dhṛtamu dhṛitamu. [Skt.] adj. Possessed, held, contained. ధరింపబడిన. ధృతకోపము angry. ధృత రాష్ఠ్రుడు dhṛita-rāshṭruḍu. n. The father of Duryōdhana and uncle of the Pānḍu princes. ధృతి dhṛiti. n. Steadiness, firmness, bravery, valour. ధైర్యము. Pleasure, happiness. సంతోషము, సౌఖ్యము. A spirit, extract, essence. లనంగధృతి essence of cloves. చందనదృతి sandal oil.

(p. 733) pāci or ప్రాచి pāchi. [Tel.] n. Rot, foulness, squalor, staleness, nastiness, scurf, (as of the teeth,) పండ్లమురికి Green slime produced in stagnant water, moss, water weeds, శైవాలము, నీళ్లలోని పచ్చని మురికి. Also, a baby word for the nipple, breast, or milk. adj. Old, పాతయైన. Dirty, unclean, not fresh. ఇంటిపాచిపని కాలేదు the cleaning of the house is not done. పాచిచేయు or పాచితీయు to sweep and wash a house, to clean a house. పాచితీగె pāchi-tīge. n. A certain creeper, also called పాచిమాను. Anogeissus acuminata (Watts.)

(p. 754) pitṛlu pitṛilu. [Skt.] n. Fathers, ancestors. పితృతిథి pitṛi-tithi. n. A lunar day, on which offerings are made to the manes of ancestors. పితృపతి pitṛi-pati. n. The lord of the ancestors, i.e., Yama. పితృవనము pitṛi-vanamu. n. A cemetery. శ్మశానము, ఒలికిమిట్ట. M. iv. 18. పితృయజ్ఞము or పితృతర్పణము pitṛi-yagnyamu. n. An offering or sacrifice to ancestors. పిత్రార్జితము pitr-ārjitamu. adj. Earned by one's ancestors, inherited from one's ancestors, ancestral. n. Ancestral property. పిత్య్రము pitryamu. adj. Paternal, ancestral. తండ్రి సంబంధమైన, తండ్రిది. పితృవ్యుడు pitṛivyuḍu. n. A paternal uncle, తండ్రితోడబుట్టినవాడు.

(p. 761) pīyi or పియ్యి pīyi. [Tel.] n. Human excreta, the dung of unclean animals. పీతి pīti. adj. Portaining to human dung, unclean. పీతిరి pītiri. n. Defilement with ordure. పీతిరిగద్ద pītiri-gadda. n. The white scavenger vulture. పీతిరిగుంట pītiri-gunṭa. n. A dungpit, a cesspool. పీతిరినాగుపాము pītiri-nāgu-pāmu. n. The stinking cobra, lit: the dung snake.

(p. 763) puṇḍu punḍu. [Tel.] n. A boil, an ulcer, a sore. A blister. The reddish cake in the middle of a white-ant-hill. నాగొంతు పుండుగానున్నది I have a sore throat. రాచపుండు a carbuncle. పక్కలోపుండు పెంచెదవేమి why do you nourish a thorn in your side? Infl. పుంటి (S. iii. 370.) abl. పుంట. plu. పుండ్లు. పుండుచేయు punḍu-chēyu. v. n. To raise a blister, or make a sore. పుండ్ల రోగము venereal disease.

(p. 771) puruḍu puruḍu. [Tel.] n. Parturition, child birth. Ceremonial uncleanness for ten days after the birth of a child, జాతాశాచము. పురుడుపుచ్చు to put away a woman's uncleanness, వురిటిల్లు or వురుటిల్లు the house wherein a birth has happened, ప్రసవగృహము. నెలవురుడు the lesser degree of uncleanness, extending from the 10th to the 30th day. పురిటి పురుగు a reptile, imagined to injure new born children. ఆమె పురుడుపోసినాను I got her through her confinement, I attended on her in her childbed. 'పురిటిజింకలు అనగా వేసి' S. i 176. పదిదినములైనా కాని జింకపిల్లలు. పురిటాలు, పురుటాలు or పురుటియాలు puriṭ-ālu. n. A woman in childbed. బాలెంతరాలు.
