(p. 86) alaghu a-laghu. [Skt.] adj. Not light. Heavy, large, big. భారమైన. అలఘువు a-laghuvu. n. A long vowel; a sound equal to two mātras or simple sounds. గురువు, గుర్వక్షరము. అలఘుడు a-laghuḍu. n. A man of weight. A respectable man. దొడ్డవాడు, గొప్పవాడు.

(p. 109) āgu āgu. [Tel.] v. n. To stop, to stay, asbtain, refrain. To bear (as a cord does a weight.) To be confined, set aside, or reserved. ఆయింటను ఆగబడి యున్నదేవకి (B. X. 75.) Devaki who was kept in restraint. తల్లిదండ్రులులెని బాలురు ఆగ నీవు దిక్కు thou art the refuge of the helpless. పశువులకు ఆరినబీడు land set aside or reserved for pasture. ఇది లేనిది నాకు ఆగదు I cannot get on without this. నా నోటిలో ఆ మాట ఆగదు I cannot keep that word a secret. ఆగు, ఆగించు, ఆచు, ఆపు the causal of ఆగు: āgu. [Tel.] v. t. To stop, check, hinder. To keep, tend. To look to, superintend, guard, protect, preserve. To fold or gather as a flock. నోరాచి మాట్లాడిరి they spoke cautiously. చెయ్యి ఆపక (T. v. 22.) without intermission. నిద్ర ఆచుట to refrain from sleep, keep away drowsiness. రాత్రిళ్లు ఇక్కడ మందులు ఆచుకొని యుండేవారు they used to keep cattle here at nights.

(p. 140) illamu illamu. [Tel. ఇరు+పలము] n. Two palams' weight. రెండు పలములు. 'ఇల్లమనంగను సెసగుద్విపలి.' ఆం. భా: ద్వి: వై.

(p. 158) uduṭu or ఉదుటుతనము uduṭu. [Tel.] n. Bigness, vigour, weight, ఉద్ధతి. adj. Big, vigorous , fine, ఉద్ధతము.

(p. 180) enta enta. [Tel. ఏ+అంత] adj. How much. ఇది యెంత పొడుగు how long is this? ఎంత అన్యాయము what injustice! ఈ బంగారమెంత ఉన్నది what is the price (or weight) of this gold? అది యెంత పని what great matter is that? ఎంతమాత్రము how much? ఎంతలో within what price? ఎంతమాత్రము కాదు by no means. అట్లు అనడానకు నేనెంతవాణ్ని who am I that I should say so? నీవెంత ఆయనయెంత? what comparison is there between you and him? నేనెంత చెప్పినా notwithstanding all I could say. ఎంత చెల్లించితే అంత మంచిది the more you pay the better అప్పుడు ఎంత రాత్రియైయుండెను what time of night was it then? ఎంత సేపటికి వచ్చినాడు how long after did he come? ఎంతకు అమ్మినాడు for how much did he sell it? ఎంతమాత్రము కూడనిపని a thing quite out of the question. నీవెంత నేనెంత అని పోట్లాడినారు they scorned or insulted one another. ఎంతటి వారు what sort of persons? ఎంతమంది how many (persons.) The conjunction యు is sometimes added as an intensive. ఎంతయు రయంబున with very great speed ఎంతేని entēni. adv. Ever so much, how much soever. ఎంతైనను. ఎంతైన. how vast, how great, ever so great. ఎంతో much. ఎంతో సంతోషముతో with great joy.

(p. 187) ettu ettu. [Tel.] n. 1. Height. ఉన్నతము. 2. Weight: బరువు, తూనిక. The weight of a quarter of a maund, i. e., two viss, or, six pounds and a quarter రెండువీసెలకొలది. (A. v. 96.) A wreath of flowers. పువ్వుటెత్తు, పుష్పసరము. A move at chees చదరంగపుఎత్తు; hence (metaphorically) a contrivance, a trick, ఉపాయము; an effort. ప్రయత్నము. ఎత్తులమారి a clever man. ఎత్తుకట్టు or ఎత్తుచూచు to weigh, to try. ఎత్తుకు ఎత్తు a Roland for an Oliver, one device against another. ఎత్తు ettu adj. High, heavy. ఎత్తుపయనము a sudden journey.

(p. 189) ennika ennika. [Tel. from ఎన్ను to count.] n. Reckoning; thought, calculation, esteem, estimation, idea, hope. గణనము, కలంపు. ఎన్నికకదువులు cattle of value. ఎన్నికచేయు or ఎన్నికపెట్టు to count or reckon; to rate. ఎంచు, లెక్కపెట్టు, గణించు, ఎన్నికమనిషి a person of distinction. ఎన్నికమాటలు weighty words.

(p. 195) ēkōttaramu ēkōttaramu. [Skt. ఏక+ఉత్తరము] adj. More by one, increased by an unit 'ఆకాశాదిభూతంబు లేకోత్తరగుణంబులైయుండు.' Padma Puran. VI. 15. the five elements, ether, wind, fire, water, and earth have each one attribute (or quality) more than the one next named. Earth has five qualities as weight, taste, extension, &c., water has only four, fire has only three, &c. Thus each class is more by one than the next. ఏకోత్తరవృద్ధి the addition of one: increase by one unit: one more. ఏకోత్తరదశము one hundred and one.

(p. 204) aiśvaryamu aiṣvaryamu. [Skt. from ఈశ్వర] n. Riches, wealth, prosperity. కలిమి, సంపద. అష్టైశ్వర్యములు the eight super-natural perfections or attributes of the deity as summed up in this verse. అణిమామహిమాచైవ గరిమాలఘిమాతథా ప్రాప్తిః ప్రాకామ్యమీశత్వం వశిత్వంచాష్టభూతయః. That which is 1, fine as an atom, 2, of prodigious vastness, 3, of great weight, 4, light as ehter, 5, omnipotent, 6, free, 7, supreme, and 8, under control. ఐశ్వర్యవంతుడు aiṣvarya-vantuḍu. adj. An opulent or prosperous man.

(p. 211) oddika oddika. [Tel.] n. Concord, union, friendship అనుకూల్యము. The weights in a pair of scales, a counterpoise col ఒక వస్తువునకు సరియెత్తుగానుంచి తూచేరాళ్లు మొదలైనవి ప్రతిమానము

(p. 255) karṣamu karshamu. [Skt.] n. A weight of about half an ounce or 16 palams. ఇరువది చిన్నములయెత్తు. Friction ఒరియడము, రాయడము.

(p. 268) kāṭā kāṭā. [Tel.] n. Scales for large weights.

(p. 287) kīsara , కీసరతిత్తి or కీసా kīsara. [Tel.] n. A purse, a pocket. జేబు. The fourth part of a weight or quantity. H. iv. 194. కీసరమధ్యస్థము dishonesty in arbitration. కీసరపాలు a small portion.

(p. 322) koruku koruku. [Tel.] v. a. To bite, gnaw, grind or gnash. పండ్లు కొరుకు to gnash the teeth. కొరుకుడుపుండు a cancer or gnawing ulcer. కొరుకు n. A bite. Food. Also, a veneral disease, syphillis మేహరోగ విశేషము. కొరుకులు bites, peckings, eating. H. D. i. 1741. కొరుకులు korukulu. n. Props, timbers set to prevent the fall of a weight.
