A series of publications as of a journal; as ప్రథమకల్పము first series, ద్వితీయకల్పము second series, &c. adj. That which equivalent to or that which is almost the same as. సమానమైనది. (p. 745) pāla pāla. [Tel. from పాలు milk.] n. The bird called the Indian Roller, boracias indica (F.B.I.) the flight of which is consulted as an omen. It is erroneously called a blue jay. Various varieties are called గొర్రెపాలపిట్ట and మేకపాలపిట్ట. See Jerdon No. 243. A treatise on Omens says. 'పాలగరుడతప్ప పక్షిజాతులకెల్ల నెడమమండికుడికి నెగయవలయు.' పాల or పాలతీగ n. A certain tree, ఇక్షుగంధ, క్షీరికావృక్షము; of which there are various species as, అడవిపాలతీగ Nerium reticulatum, కాకిపాలతీగ Asclepias asthmatica, దూదిపాలతీగ Asclepias volubilis, మట్టపాలతీగ Convolvulus paniculatus; చిరుపాల, అనగా ఉటని. (టెంకాయనీళ్లు is the water in the cocoanut.) మర్రిపాలు the milky juice of the banyan tree. పాలవంటివారు, పాల వంటి కులము men (or a tribe) like milk, i.e., candid, simple, pure, unspotted, blameless, honourable. పాలవంటి మనసు a pure mind, a simple heart. పాలుకారేముఖము a milk-distilling face, i.e., a face radiant with loveliness. పాల్గారుచెక్కుటద్దములు radiantly polished cheeks, beaming with beauty. పాలకడలి, పాల్కడలి, పాలకుప్ప, పాలమున్నీరు, పాలవాగు or పాలవెల్లి pāla-kaḍali n. (p. 751) piṇḍi pinḍi. [Tel.] n. Flour. బియ్యములోనగు వాని పొడి. [Skt.] n. A multitude. సమూహము. వెన్నెల పిండి ఆరపోసినట్టుగానున్నది there is bright moonlight. తెలికపిండి a residue of sesamum seeds after the oil is extracted, oil-cake. ఈ మాట పిండికిని పడును పిడుగుకును పడును this is equivocal, it is neither chalk nor cheese. పిండిబలపము a whitish kind of slate stone. పిండిరాయి a soft kind of stone; also a mica or slate. బలపము, పిండిమిరియము a sauce made of herbs and chillies mixed with rice flour. పేలపిండి flour of parched grain. పిండికూర or పిండిబొద్దికూర pinḍi-kūra. n. A kind of vegetable. పిండిదొండ pinḍi-donḍa. n. The herb called Acrua lanata. (Watts.) H. iv. 12. పిండివంటలు pinḍi-vanṭalu. n. Pastry, cakes.

(p. 869) balapamu balapamu. [Tel.] n. Potstone, Lapis ollaris, a whitish chalk like a slate pencil. A state pencil.

(p. 1204) vempali vempali. [Tel.] n. The purple Galega, Tephrosia purpurea. A small wild shrub with a pink flower and a leaf resembling that of the Indigo plant. బాణపుంఖి, మణికాచము. It has several species called ములువెంపలి the thorny sort, జిడ్డువెంపలి the gummy kind, వెలివెంపలి the whitish and పెద్దవెంపలి the giant species.
