(p. 62) apanayamu apa-nayamu. [Skt.] n. Taking away, withdrawing, removing, destroying. తొలగించడము, దూరీకరణము, పోగొట్టడము. అపనయించు apanayinṭsu. [Skt.] v. a. To remove, do away with, dissipate. పోగొట్టు. 'ఎన్ని బాధల బెట్టిన నన్ని బాధలచ్యత్మసృతి చేతినేయపనయించి.' N. iv. 247.

(p. 416) cinna chinna. [Tel.] adj. Small, little, short, young, mean, trifling, insignificant, narrow: disgraceful. ముఖము చిన్నచేసుకొను to be ashamed, to be downcast or sorrowful. Junior, Younger, smaller. చిన్నచూపు humiliation, scorn. దేవుడు చిన్నచూపుచూస్తే యెవరేమి చేయవచ్చును when God withdraws his favour what can man do? చిన్న ఆకురాయి chinna-ākurāyi. n. The Blackheaded Cuckoo-Shrike, Campophaga sykesi. (F.B.I.) చిన్నకారు chinna-kāru. n. Childhood, youth. చిన్నకారుపిల్లలు young children. చిన్నతనము chinna-tanamu. n. Infancy: littleness, smallness. Disgrace, dishonor. ఇందువల్ల కులమునకంతా చిన్నతనము వచ్చినది this is a disgrace to the whole caste. చిన్నది chinnadi. n. A little one. A girl, a lass. ఈ చిన్నది అతనిభార్య this girl is his wife. పెద్ద చిన్నది the eldest daughter; or, a grown girl.

(p. 424) cīlu chīlu. [Tel.] v. n. To split or crack. విదారితమగు. To withdraw from company. To be scattered. To fall off or drop off as paint. To divide, or branch off, as a road or stream. చీల్పించు chīlpinṭsu. (v. causal) To tear, divide, &c. To sow dissensions. చీలదీయు. chīla-dīyu. v. n. To split or to tear, to scatter, to divide. To seduce, beguile. To tempt, tamper with, raise dissensions, foment, worm out a secret. చీలిక or చీరిక chīlika. n. A slit, a slice. చీలుచు or చీల్చు chīluṭsu. v. a. To split, crack, tear, divide.

(p. 501) taggu taggu. [Tel.] v. n. To become less, to decrease, diminish fall (in price,) abate, తక్కువగు. To go back, withdraw, retire, వెనుకకుతీయు. తగ్గుమొగ్గులు taggu-moggulu. n. Ups and downs. తగ్గించు tagginṭsu. v. a. To lower, debase, degrade, తగ్గింపు taggimpu. n. A fall, sinking, diminution, reduction. A fall, in price. తగ్గు or తగ్గుదల taggu. n. (p. 508) tappu tappu. [Tel.] v. n. To err, fail, cease. To be lost, broken, changed, made void, or erroneous. దైవానుగ్రహము తప్పినందున through the divine favour being lost. To drop off, as a shackle. To go off, abate, as a pain. రేపుతప్పినది the ford is missed. అడుగులో పిడుగుతిప్పు a great mistake in a short space. ఆయువుతప్పినవాడయినాడు he declined into the vale of years. v. a. To transgress, to miss. తప్పుచేయు, అతిక్రమించు. దినము తప్పుదినము every other day, missing one day in turn. ఒకటితప్పి ఒకటి one now and then; here and there one. తప్పివచ్చినపని a thing that happened unexpectedly, or out of the common way. మాటతప్పు to break one's word or promise. తప్పక tappaka. adv. Unfailingly, steadfastly, steadily, certainly, surely. తప్పచూచు tappa-ṭsūṭsu. v. t. To disregard. దైవము తప్ప చూచినందున as God withdrew his favour. తప్పు or తప్పితము or తప్పిదము. (తప్పు+ఇతము or ఇదము.) n. An error, fault, mistake, offence. తప్పుపలుకు to say what is wrong or false. తప్పులుపట్టు to find fault with, to cavil. adj. Erroneous, mistaken, faulty, wrong. Foul or entangled. తప్పుకూడు unlawful food. తప్పుటడుగులు పెట్టు to stagger or totter as an infant. తప్పుదారి or తప్పుదోవ a wrong road. తప్పించు tappinṭsu. v. a. To extricate, to set free విడిపించు. To take away, remove, lose, shift, alter. తాడు తప్పించుట to get the cord free, to extricate it. నా జీవనము తప్పించినాడు he took away my living. To elude ముఖము తప్పించు to abscond. To cause to cross over, pass by, transgress, depart from (an agreement.) దోవతప్పించినాడు he misled me. తప్పించుకొను tappinṭsu-konu. v. n. To get free, to escape. ప్రాణము తప్పించుకొని వస్తిని I escaped with my life. తప్పుడు or తప్పుదల. tappuḍu. n. Missing, making a mistake తప్పుట. తప్పుడు adj. Wrong తప్పైన. తప్పుడుపడు or తప్పుపడు to make a mistake సరితప్పు.

(p. 534) tīyu tīyu. [Tel.] v. a. To take. To draw out, take out, extract. ఈడ్చు. To open. excavate, dig. To deduct, take away, subtract. To find (a place in a book), to discover, bring to light. To turn out, discharge, remove. To exact, receive (payment.) To collect, gather, levy as a tax, a fine, పన్ను, లేక అపరాధమునుతీయు. To pull off, take off. To extinguish or put out. To buy. కొను. See తీసికొను. దెబ్బతీయు to give a blow. చెరువుతీయు, బావితీయు. to sink or dig a well or tank. పాతరతీయు to open a pit or granary. పాలుతీయు to milk. జాడతీయు to trace, detect. చేరదీయు to draw towards, to patronise, take into one's service, to embrace. సానదీయు to whet on a stone. గోళ్లుతీయు to cut the nails. దోవతీయు to clear the way, to prepare a path. అతనిసిగ్గుతీసిరి they disgraced him. తాళముతీయు to unlock. వాకిలితీయు to open a door. విడతీయు to loosen or separate. వేరుగాతీయు to separate. ఎండకంచు తీసినట్టు ఉన్నది the sun is a dazzling as (though reflected from) polished metal. తీయు. v. n. To go off, cease, diminish, disappear, be dispelled, intermit, desist from. To draw back, withdraw, retire, stand aside. To contract, shrivel, crack, open, split. జ్వరముతీసినది the fever went down. వెన్నుతీయు to come forth, or be produced (as a sprout,) to bud. కాళ్లు తీయుచున్నవి my legs throb or ache. ఏరు తీసిపోయినది the river has gone down. వెనక తీయు to fail, retire, withdraw, retreat, hesitate, or flinch. నాలుకతీసినది my tongue is dry, I am thirsty. వాని ఒళ్లు మిక్కిలి తీసిపోయినది he is greatly fallen away in flesh. నీళ్లు తీసిపోవు to dry up, sink, diminish, be exhausted. బలమంతా తీసిపోయినది my strength has gone. పాతర తీసియున్నది the granary was opened. తీయక unintermittingly, without intermission. వెనకతీయక without hesitation. తియ్యకుండా unfailingly, uninterruptedly, without intermission. తీయని incessant, unceasing. తీయించు tīyinṭsu. v. a. To cause to remove, get removed. తీసివేయు tīsi-vēyu. v. t. To take away. To dismiss. To sever ఖండించు. తీసివేతకాకితాలు tīsi-vēta-kāki-talu. n. Outside sheets of paper: paper that is taken away. తీసిపోవు tīsi-pōvu. v. n. To diminish. తగ్గు. తీసుక for తీసుకొని bringing. తీసుకరా bring. తీసుకపో take away. తీసికొను or తీసుకొను tīsi-konu. v. a. To take, &c.; to buy; to eat or drink, &c. పనితీసుకొను to exact service. వాడు చాలా దినములనుంచి తీసుకొంటున్నాడు he has been lingering for a long time. దండముతీసుకొనెను he acknowledged or accepted the salutation.

(p. 752) pikku pikku. [Tel.] n. A trick, artifice, a secret. వంచన, మర్మము. అందులోనుండే పిక్కు వానికి తెలియలేదు he did not find out the trick of it. v. n. To withdraw. వెనుదీయు. v. a. To cheat, to deceive. దగాచేయు, వంచించు.

(p. 771) purikolupu puri-kolupu. v. a. To spur on, move, instigate, incite, stir up, rally. మొనయు, ప్రేరేపించు, ఎచ్చరించు, నూలుకొలుపు, పుల్లలుపెట్టు. పురికొస puri-kosa. n. A large poisonous spider or tarantula. Also, a rough kind of twine. పురిగట్టిన puri-gaṭṭina. part. Strong, vigorous. పురిపెట్టు puri-peṭṭu. v. a. To twine or twist. పురియెక్కించు puri-y-ekkinṭsu. v. a. To incite. పురివిచ్చు puri-vitsṭsu. v. a. To untwist or unravel a thread. v. n. To separate, withdraw, retreat. వేరగు, వీడిపోవు. పురులోము puru-lōmu. (పురులు+ఓము.) v. n. To be enraged, క్షాత్రము మొరయించు.

(p. 944) maḍavu maḍavu. [Tel.] v. n. To turn away, as the face, to turn back, to withdraw from, విముఖమగు. To become useless, నిష్ఫలమగు.

(p. 1057) yōgamu yōgamu. [Skt.] n. Junction, meeting, union, కూడిక, కూర్పు. Fortune, అపూర్వవస్తుప్రాప్తి. సద్యోగము a lucky conjuncture, good fortune, or luck. దుర్యోగము misfortune. దైవయోగము Divine Providence. దైవయోగముతప్పి unhappily, unfortunately. Accession of property, or wealth. ద్రవ్యము. A prescription, a recipe. ఔషధము, మహాబిల్వాది యోగము a prescription including Bilva roots. Devotion, spiritual worship, the practice of abstraction and meditation. ధ్యానము. Of these forms of worship there are eight named (a) యమము restraining the passions, (b) నియమము providing a proper place, &c, for worship, (c) stopping the breath in three modes called రేచకము, పూరకము or కుంభకము, (d) ప్రత్యాహారము withdrawal from sense perception, (e) ధ్యానము meditation, (f) ధారణము repression of all physical movements, (g) మననము fixing the mind on the deity, and (h) సమాధి complete immersion in thought so that the thinker is dead to the world. ధ్యానయోగము an act of faith or meditation. మంత్రయోగము a magical operation. యోగపట్టె or యోగపట్టము yōga-paṭṭe. n. A magic girdle worn by ascetics. యోగదృష్టి the second sight, obtained by devotion, superhuman sagacity or perspicacity. యోగాభ్యాసము the keeping the body in a fixed posture for spiritual worship, the practice of abstract contemplation. యోగనిద్ర or జ్ఞాననిద్ర the divine sleep, or supernatural stupor which yōgis or saints strive to attain. యోగమాయ supernatural stupor. యోగవాగలు, యోగవాగములు or యోగవాగాలు yōga-vūgalu. n. Magical boots supposed to be worn by hermits. తలచినచోటికి తీసికొనిపోవు మంత్రిశక్తిగలపాదుకలు. 'యోగవాగలు మెట్టి యొకపాదమూది.' HD. ii. 135. 'యోగపట్టెలవారు నొప్పారు యోగ, వాగెలవారును.' L. xxiii. 31. యోగక్షేమము yōga-kshēmamu. n. Welfare, well-being, good circumstances. యోగి yōgi. n. A devotee, hermit; an ascetic in general, మని, యోగాభ్యాసము చేయువాడు. యోగిని yōgini. n. A woman who practises Yoga, a female mendicant. A nymph or fairy, attendant on Durga the good goddess. తాపసస్త్రీ. క్షుద్రదేవతావిశేషము. యోగురాలు yōgu-r-ālu. n. A female mendicant. జటిని.

(p. 1110) loṅgu or లోగు longu. [Tel.] v. n. To submit, to yield, to be humble. లోకువగు, తగ్గు. To withdraw, retreat, వెనుదీయు. తొంగినంత longin-anta. adj. As much as possible, or practicable. సాధ్యమైనంత. రెండుఏళ్లతోను లొంగినంత భూమి దున్నినాడు he tilled as much land as could be done with two ploughs.

(p. 1232) vyatirēkamu vy-ati-rēkamu. [Skt.] n. Contrariety, difference, opposition, disagreement, change, విరోధము, భిన్నత, వేరు, మారు. అన్వయవ్యతిరేకములు తెలియలేదు whether it will succeed or no is uncertain, ఆనుకూల్య ప్రాతికూల్యములు తెలియలేదు. adj. Contrary, opposed to, negative. విరోధమైన. ఆజ్ఞకు వ్యతిరేకముగా against orders. వ్యతిరేకార్థకము. (in Gram.) the negative form of the verb. వ్యతిరిక్తము vy-ati-ṛiktamu. adj. Different, distinct, contrary, opposite, excepted, withdrawn, భిన్నమైన, వేరుపడిన. మారుపడిన.
