(p. 4) aṅgana angana. [Skt. from అంగము] n. A woman. పుణ్యాంగన a noble dame.

(p. 6) aṅgi angi. [Skt.] n. Lit. Having a body. లతాంగి, a woman having a body as beautiful and tender as a creeper.

(p. 7) añca antsạ. [Vikriti of హంస.] n. A swan. అంచయాన a woman that walks as gracefully as a swan. అంచరవుతు Brahma who rides on a swan.

(p. 8) aṇṭu antu. [Tel.] n. Uncleanness, defilement by touch, impurity, such as is caused by the death of a relative, or by touching a lower caste man. Relationship. అంటుది an unclean woman. అంటుపడ్డాడు he was polluted, he became unclean. అంటుగా ఉండేయిల్లు. a house ceremonially polluted. మాకు రేపు అంటు (లేక, మైల) వదులును tomorrow we shall be free from [ceremonial] impurity. వానికనిమాకును మరేమి అంటుసంటు లేదు I have no connection with him. I have nothing to do with him.

(p. 10) antḥpuramu antaḥ-puramu. [Skt.] n. Seraglio: apartments for women; the inner chamber.

(p. 12) antaravatni antarvatni. [Skt.] n. A pregnant woman.

(p. 15) andakurālu anḍhakurālu. [Skt.] n. A blind woman. గుడ్డిది.

(p. 15) anduvu anduvu. [Skt.] n. A fetter or chain; an ornament for a woman's foot. ఏనుగు సంకిలి. అందె.

(p. 15) ande ande. [Tel.] n. A foot trinket of silver, filled with small pebbles in order to sound and worn by women on their ankles. నూపురము. అందెబందెలేని adj. Free from any trouble or annoyance. ఏ చిక్కున్నులేని, జంజాటములేని.

(p. 17) ambuvu ambuvu. [Skt.] n. Water. నీళ్లు అంబుజము or అంబురుహము a lotus. అంబుజోదరుడు an epithet of Vishnu. అంబుజలోచన or అంబుజాక్షి a lotus-eyed woman. అంబుదము a cloud. అంబుధి the sea. అంబురాశి the ocean.

(p. 19) akka akka. [Tel. a Dravidian word borrowed by Sanskrit, where it is used in the sense of mother. cf. Lat. acca] n. An elder sister. అక్కచెల్లెళ్లు elder and younger sisters. పెద్దక్క the eldest sister. Any woman older than oneself is usually styled అక్క elder sister, or అమ్మ mother, madam: and any man older than onself is usually styled అస్న elder brother, or, అయ్య father, sir. పంటలక్క a cook or kitchen maid. See అక్కలవాడ.

(p. 21) akṣi akshi. [Skt.] n. An eye. కన్ను. మదిరాక్షి a woman: (lit.) she who is tipsy eyed. అక్షితార, the pupil of the eye. అక్షిపక్ష్మము, the eye-lash, రెప్పవెండ్రుకలు, అక్షిపటలము a coat of the eye. అక్షిభ్రువము = the eyebrow, అక్షిగోళము akshi-gōḷamu. [Skt.] n. The eyeball.

(p. 27) agrēdidhiṣuvu agrē-didhishuvu. [Skt.] n. A woman's first husband.

(p. 31) aṭē or అటో aṭē. [Tel.] Contraction of అటవే or అటవో (intensive of అట) My good woman! అతను పోయినాడటే is he gone, ma'am? ఇంకా కాలేదటో is it not finished, ma'am?

(p. 32) aṭṭu aṭṭu. [Tel.] n. A cake roasted or baked (on an iron plate.) పెనము మీద కాల్చినది. ఇందున గురించి ఊరంతా అట్టుడికినట్టు ఉడుకుచున్నది the whole town is in a stir about this. (Homer, Odyss. xx. 10.) The whole town rings with the news. అట్టుకట్టు aṭṭtukaṭṭu. v. n. To be formed, as a cake. అట్టువలె నేర్పడుట. అట్టు పుట్టానవాలు aṭṭupuṭṭānavālu. n.
