(p. 397) grahamu grahamu. [Skt. గ్రహ = to seize.] n. A planet. నవగ్రహములు the seven planets and the sun and moon. దశమగ్రహము a tenth planet: being like the Georgium sidus. A spirit, a devil. A proverb says జామాతా దశమోగ్రహః A son-in-law is a more pestilent fellow than any one planet! he is the 'tenth!' గ్రహచారము graha-chāramu. n. Disaster, ill luck, fate, misfortune. నా గ్రహచారము చాలక యిట్లు జరిగినది through my misfortune (or, to my sorrow) it so happened. మా గ్రహచారము ఇట్లున్నది this is what has befallen us. గ్రహణము grahaṇa-mu. n. Taking, seizure. Reception, acceptance, comprehension. An eclipse. గ్రహణి grahaṇi. n. Diarrhœa, dysentery. అతిసారరోగము. గ్రహతారలు graha-tāralu. n. The planets and fixed stars. గ్రహపతి graha-pati. n. The lord of the stars, i.e., the sun. గ్రహరాజు the sun or moon.

(p. 836) prayatnamu pra-yatnamu. [Skt.] n. A great attempt, endeavour, or effort. మిక్కిలియత్నము. దైవప్రయత్నమువల్ల ఇట్లు జరిగినది it pleased God that matters turned out thus. ప్రయత్నించు pra-yatninṭsu. v. n. To try very hard, strive, make a great effort, మిక్కిలి యత్నించు.

(p. 853) prōdbalamu prōd-balamu. [Skt. ప్ర+ఉత్+బలము] n. Support, aid, assistance. సహాయము. Encouragement, instigation. పురికొలుపుట. ఇది వాని ప్రోద్బలముపైని జరిగినది this was done at his instigation.

(p. 990) mīmāṃsa mīmāmsa. [Skt.] n. A discussion or disputation held to find out the truth regarding anything. ప్రమాణైరర్థవిచారణ, ప్రమాణములచేత నిజము గ్రహించడము. Polemical divinity. Theological criticism. The name of one of the six great Indian philosophical systems, పూర్వ మీమాంస is a system of ritualism. ఉత్తరమీమాంస is a system practically the same as the వేదాంతము, జ్ఞానకాండ. పుత్రీకరణమీమాంస is a 'treatise' (or essay) on adopting a daughter. మీమాంసచేయు to dispute, argue. మీ యిద్దరికి ఇందును గురించి చాలా మీమాంసజరిగినది we had a great discussion about this matter. మీమాంసకుడు mīmāmsakuḍu. n. One who knows the Mīmānsa system of philosophy, మీమాంస శాస్త్రము తెలిసినవాడు.

(p. 1181) vibhavamu vibhavamu. [Skt.] n. Wealth, riches. సంపద, ధనము. ఆ ఉత్సవము విభవముతో జరిగినది the festival was grandly performed. 'అప్పుగొనిసేయు విభవము.' (Sumati. 21.) luxury supported by contracting debt. విభవ vibhava. n. The name of a Telugu year.

(p. 1187) vilakṣaṇamu or విలక్షణత vi-lakshaṇamu. n. Difference. భేదము. 'శక్రాదులందు నొకడు గాడనుచుశ్రుతియేవిలక్షణతదెలిపె.' A. iii. 13. టీ విలక్షణత, వైలక్షణ్యము. విలక్షణము vi-lakshaṇamu. adj. Other, different. భిన్నమైన. Handsome, beautiful, elegant, excellent, select. విశేషలక్షణముగల, సుందరమైన, ఉత్తమమైన, దివ్యమైన, యోగ్యమైన ఇది విలక్షణమైనపడుచు she is a handsome girl. విలక్షణముగా vi-lakshaṇamu-gā. adv. Properly, with propriety, handsomely, excellently. చక్కగా, అందముగా, దివ్యముగా. ఆ పెండ్లి విలక్షణముగా జరిగినది that marriage went off very well. విలక్షణుడు vi-lakshaṇuḍu. n. One who is highly accomplished, a model of excellence. One who differs from the common order, one who has some distinguishing qualities, భిన్నుడు, ఉత్కృష్టుడు. వాడు విలక్షణూడుకాడు he is not a man of strict religious habits. 'వీనికత్యంత విలక్షణుండునునక్షయుండును నట్లగుట నింతయనర్థమూలంబగు.' A. iii. 82.
